AGE OF APPEARANCE:

APPEARANCE
SCARRED FLESH
a mutilated visage for a twisted heart
FACE CLAIM:
BLEACH - KUGO GINJO
HEIGHT:
6'2" 1/2 (74.5 inches, or 189.2 Cm)
WEIGHT:
212 Lbs. (96 Kg)
APPEARANCE:
though his youth and features initially leave a nubile impression on those who look on Gangrel, his scarred face coupled with his sour expression quickly spoil his otherwise good looks. A huge, red scar covers his face; it looks almost painted on but up close one can see the blood red mark actually has the texture of scarred skin, making the unnatural redness seem more like a birthmark. His eyes are unusually colored, bearing white-silver pupils but bloody sanguine scleras (the white membrane covering the majority of the human eye). His hair has been pale white ever since he became togabito, giving him a strange and malign but not wholly unpleasant look about him.
Gangrel's skin is faintly tanned and tight, but horribly scarred. Apart from the scar on his face Gangrel's limbs are all covered in numerous, painful scars in the shape of gashes, none of which disappear no matter how many times he is reborn in Hell. Unlike his facial 'X' shaped scar however none of the others have odd coloration, matching his natural skin tone. His physique is otherwise quite healthy. Gangrel's body is covered in very bold musculature, each muscle defined and very hard especially in his abs and shoulders; if you don't mind scars he's sexy in a vicious way. He's got a very trim and broad build, as he was physically active in life and more so now in the afterlife.
To cover his body scars Gangrel wears a strange suit of lightweight skeletal armor. It's composed of many interlocking plates and made of bone, bearing a resemblance to some other things in Hell and not so different from what the Kushanada sometimes let their emissaries wear, although Gangrel's armor has absolutely no relation to them and only looks similar because he designed it that way. A mane of vibrant, dull red fur is attached to the collar of Gangrel's armor. It doesn't extend to his front so that part of his neck is otherwise exposed, but apart from that it covers a lot. The armor covers everything below his neck, consisting of black painted plates with white skeletal ridges rising from them to give them very bone-like shape and texture purely for aesthetics.
On the upper back of Gangrel's weird armor are two overlaying plates that have chutes in them, shaped kind of like coral in that they open up into two holes on each plate. From these four holes, violet or red streaks of his reiatsu sometimes jut out; it serves no real purpose other than to give a place for his reiatsu to flow out of more easily when he flares it. It provides a unique look when used.

BRIEF PERSONALITY
COVETOUS AVARICE
a passion to blot out all joy
LIKES:
X ~ quiet; not so much the absence of noise as much as the simple state of quietness. tiny communities set out in the mountains, a simple stream flowing quietly between riverstones, or a cup of modestly steeped green ginseng tea - anything that brings on a feeling of peace. people bring a sense of conflict to Gangrel, leading him to enjoy things that don't require much company.
X ~ swords; it may be an instrument of violence, but Gangrel sees art in swords, not weaponry. The way a blade cuts is determined by the forge and style of it's edge - just like a picture, the artist behind the weapon can change the detail of it's usage. The only difference is that you have to swing it through something to see the picture.
X ~ antiques; the test of time is harder on craftsmanship than any other trial. anything that survives through the generations and ages has much to teach - most fond of antique weaponry and ancient currency, Gangrel hoards old objects of many kinds brought from both human and Shinigami society alike, though artifacts of the latter origin are extremely difficult to obtain.
X ~ blood; just like a rose's vibrant color, blood's lush sanguine color fades with time. it stimulates the senses and gives Gangrel a rush upon taste. the diversity and unique properties of blood fascinate Gangrel.
DISLIKES:
X ~ opinions: Gangrel doesn't have opinions. an assumption without fact has no guarantee of it's validity. he holds others to his standard, and to hear one express conviction for what they cannot prove is the same in feeling as hearing nails screeching against a chalkboard for Gangrel's tired ears.
X ~ superiors: he grew up as the extra child his family had no use for and suffered until he acted on those who had what he desired. Gangrel loves peace, but can't protect it in himself; he immediately becomes hateful to any who are better than him in general ability, or in status. the only solution to him is to either surpass or remove whoever is ahead of him.
X ~ women: every woman in Gangrel's life deceived, used, or hurt him. he's still attracted to women, and doesn't believe they are inferior, but wants them to be weak. he regards all females with suspicion and a lack of trust. It is unlikely he'll warm up to any woman. he has no special regard for males.
X ~ togabito: he's no better, but he knows all his brethren are what they are because they committed grave sins in life. just because he's also guilty doesn't mean he is fond of the other togabito - he feels what he did in life to be sent to Hell was justified, but he condemns all other sinners to their fate. he still believes his damnation was a mistake of some kind.
X ~ selfishness: people mindlessly pursuing their own desires have inconvenienced or threatened Gangrel's life for as long as he can remember. they don't think beyond their wants - Gangrel is used to seeing it. a person's selfishness is directly proportional to Gangrel's malevolence towards that person.
X ~ lesbians: an extension of Gangrel's feelings towards women is a fear towards lesbians. the women who hurt Gangrel were mostly gay women. again, he does not assume there is anything wrong with them; he simply hates them for the irrevocable feelings of pain and anger he is left with. he makes no assumption on them as people.
POSITIVE TRAITS:
+ - Mettlesome; readily willing to put himself through pain, stress, and difficulty.
+ - Perceptive; has an empathic understanding of others, regardess of attachment to them.
+ - Decisive; quickly makes tough decisions, able to overcome hesitation.
+ - Gutsy; doesn't back down when the going get's tough.
+ - Selfaware; deeply in-tune with his own motives, has less self doubt for the sake of self understanding.
+ - Initiating; pursues opportunity with an unrelenting vigor, aggressively applies his abundant energy to his desires and goals.
+ - Sharp; adept in trickery and armed against it, naturally intelligent and applies it to creative but logical understanding of the world and society.
+ - Charismatic; has the potential to move others with the expression of his vivid feelings if they witness him in some perspectives.
NEGATIVE TRAITS:
X ~ Meddlesome; Digs into perilous places in search of profit, finding danger in opportunity.
X ~ Uncompromising; Too proud to back down from danger, his stubbornness has unwanted consequences, despite accepting risk and ultimately death as an aspect of life.
X ~ Bitter; Past heartbreak warps him, making him needlessly cruel to those similar to the woman he loved.
X ~ Proud; Loves himself and has obtrusive dignity, despite deeply ingrained negativity, sometimes to the point of mild arrogance.
X ~ Committed; Devoted to vengeance despite knowing it is perpetual darkness, too set on a dark path to accept change.
X ~ Unmoved; Often fails to see aesthetics, too scarred of heart to love another without years of temptation and affection that is difficult to acquire, deeply ingrained in practicality to frequent excess.
X ~ Brooding; Subject to depression despite lacking the will or ability to give up on life, never relinquishing his will but perpetually reopening wounds and self-inflicting pain by remembrance as he ponders anguishing memories rather than ignore them to heal.
X ~ Morbid; Has acquired odd and dark tastes, embracing things that are outright evil and destructive, so much so to be partial even to curses and dark spirits as beings similar to his negative feelings.

WEAPONS:
Gangrel has practiced weapon and armor making as a hobby for centuries, having nothing to better to do both during his time as an Arrancar and then as a Togabito after that. He carries many weapons concealed in special slots on his armor.
Concealed in the plates of his lower legs are two simple guard-less weapons, one edged curved blades with horn-shaped handles that jut from the outer sides of Gangrel's legs. They're quite short, but effective and easy to wield with blades of lightweight bone. They fare poorly against armor however.
Along the armor on Gangrel's thighs are six daggers disguised as skeletal ornamentation, each with a six inch blade and a handle about an inch shorter. They're a bit difficult to wield for the shortness of their grips, and the fact that the grips are smooth polished bone and difficult to wield. It adds to the problem that it is easy for one's hand to slip whilst holding the blade, making it easy to cut one's fingers on the sharp edge of razor-honed bone. They are better for throwing, as they're no good for stabs and thrusts.
Two modest, well concealed plates hang from the sides of Gangrel's hips. Underneath each are small crescent axe blades, which have compact spine-shaped grips that can be unfolded into place by mechanisms built into them. These bone hatchets may be light for axes, but are finely made and quite sharp, although they tend to break sometimes at where the handles connect to the actual axe blades themselves.
The back of Gangrel's armor simulates the spine as skeletal ornamentation, but can actually be detached to form a short ranged whip with a hidden sickle-shaped blade. Like most of Gangrel's weapons it's made from bone. Although quick, sharp and hard to defend against, the joints of the weapon are broken somewhat easily, so it's likely to break early on during usage.
There are two spines attached to the visual bones mounted on the gauntlets of Gangrel's armor. These spines are downplayed, almost abstract, seeming easy to ignore at first; they can however be detached and then attached to each other, which will cause their form to expand forming an eight foot long haft. A blade of bone then extends from the top, fat at it's base but thin at the tip, with a halberd-like axe blade mounted on the side and a curved pick on the other side extending from the blade for hitting armored foes. The spear blade is just a foot long, giving up range, but the entire halberd itself is actually very durable, so while it is somewhat small for a spear and has a shorter blade than other spear type weapons, it is much more stable than Gangrel's other weapons.
The above concludes it for the weaponry concealed on Gangrel's armor. However, there are three other weapons he can wield which are not made of bone, but they are carried by hand and only one can be brought anywhere at anytime, as their weight makes it unwise to attempt carrying more than one.
The first choice Gangrel has is a massive polished metal battle axe. It looks as if made of chrome, and it is extremely durable, but on closer inspection it's edge is lined with obsidian - because glass can be made sharper than metal. This battle axe is seven feet tall in height but it's double blades extend four feet outward on both sides, making it an utterly huge weapon. A ruby is placed in it's center where the blades are attached, and the thick haft of the weapon is uniquely shaped so that it is unexpectedly stable. It's hilt is metal like the haft itself but is covered in serpentine engravings he crafted into it himself, allowing for a good grip. Gangrel's most durable weapon by far, but also the heaviest and most difficult to wield.
Gangrel's next choice is a massive cleaver. This weapon has a hilt only large enough for a single hand, and is full tang with a worn wooden grip stained black by old blood. The absolutely huge blade extends to a length of ten feet, with a width of six feet all the way down to it's end, and is five inches thick on it's back. The crude, cruel sword looks like something taken from a horror story's butcher shop, and has the blood stains to prove it. The edge of the weapon is extremely sharp, but is jagged with nicks and chinks in the blade that have been worn down to sharpness anyway; however, they have only negligible effect on the weapon's cutting power as the tremendous momentum with which it is swung would split most things even if it's edge were dull. Absolutely difficult to wield, but not so bad as Gangrel's oversized battle axe.
Gangrel's last choice is a flamberge type zweihander. This two handed sword is modest compared to his other two heavy weapons, with a serpentine, serrated blade that is six feet in length. Not tremendous for a greatsword, and the blade is just four inches wide at any given point, with modest thickness. It will bend and vibrate when used often, but is strong, and unlikely to break unless intentionally bent too far. It's hilt is shaped like the wings of a bat in the guard, whilst the grip itself imitates a fused skeletal arm clutching onto a black gem that dimly glows purple. This weapon does less damage than either of Gangrel's other two large weapon choices. It's easier to wield, and much faster, but that's not it's purpose; the sword causes extreme pain with it's precise saw-toothed edge, which also is guaranteed to inflict some serious bleeding. It is meant for causing pain, and little else, as enemies are more likely to die slowly and horribly of blood loss rather than the sword's great swings.
TECHNIQUES:
Name: Flash wall
Type: Offensive
Cooldown: Three posts
Cost: Moderate
Range: Short-Medium
Description: From a palm, Gangrel can produce a flat square surface of condensed reiatsu, which he can then project in a much larger form. The square expands upon being fired, and though it moves slowly, it moves with substantial momentum. While it can only move up to twenty feet away from Gangrel, it can be moved however he pleases, doubling as a barrier. By shrinking it, it's force and speed can increase slightly, while expanding the square makes it's energy less dense and thus weaker. Lasts only a single post and is easily escaped. Enemies must have a SEI/HAK higher than Gangrel's SEI to break the square.
Name: Aura Strike
Type: Offensive
Cooldown: Four posts
Cost: High
Range: Short
Description: Gangrel discharges his reiatsu to accompany a single attack, adding to the impact of one blow to cause devastating kinetic damage. This is not increasing his physical qualities, as the direct effect of the technique is not driven by his physical strength, but only uses physical motion as a catalyst for it's own. With this technique Gangrel's reiatsu surges across whatever he strikes, which releases heavy tremors throughout it. If used on the ground, for example, it would fracture and shake considerably as if a quake had struck briefly. Uses Gangrel's SEI stat for damage purposes.
Name: Aura Shield
Type: Defensive
Cooldown: Two posts
Cost: Low
Range: Self
Description: Gangrel lost his hierro upon becoming Togabito, but uses this technique to temporarily replicate the same effect it provided. Like Aura Strike, Aura Shield will last only eight seconds, but in that time forms a layer of reiatsu around the user's body that provides protection from harm. It's obviously not perfect as hierro isn't either, but does allow for acts such as blocking blades bare handed within a certain range of power between combatants. Generally works like a simple barrier, and is quite easy to activate. The barrier's defense is Gangrel's SEI vs the enemy's HAK or SEI depending on the type of attack used, and attacks that are 4 points below his SEI or more will be nullified. Attacks that are 3-1 points lower will simply do far less damage. If an enemy's SEI/HAK is equal to Gangrel's, only moderate damage reduction occurs. Enemies with a SEI/HAK stat that is 1-3 points higher face only minor damage reduction. If an enemy's SEI/HAK stat is 4 points higher than his or more, the damage is not reduced at all.
Name: Ripple
Type: Offensive/Disruption
Cooldown: Four posts
Cost: High
Range: One to thirty feet
Description: With this technique Gangrel releases a bright burst of reiatsu around himself in a controlled series of ripples for a few seconds. These ripples push hard on anything they touch, but even so this does little damage, because the real purpose of the ripples is to disrupt reiatsu. Anything that is being charged will be nullified if it or the user is struck by these ripples during their charge time. This also temporarily suspends techniques which have a duration for the post ripple is used in, but the post ripple was used in still counts towards their duration time, effectively wasting a single post of their time. Also interferes with flash steps by scattering the reiatsu the user would normally have under their feet, ceasing their high speed motion or possibly causing them to fly off course if their SEI is great enough to withstand the Ripple. If one's SEI is at least 2 points lower than Gangrel's, the disruption is substantial and has full effect. Equal SEI or SEI that is just one point lower has only moderate disruption, allowing flash step user's to remain in motion but they will be unable to control their destination. Those with a higher SEI, however, are not disrupted.
TRUE FORM:
description: Perhaps a manifestation of his old zanpakuto or the Hollow powers he once possessed, Gangrel's true form does not change his obvious appearance but instead produces a powerful, skeletal sword much like the one he used in Resureccion when he was an Arrancar (Can be seen in his appearance image). The sword is a large greatsword type weapon, but unique in that it's hilt flows into the blade and there is a space where it can be grabbed, allowing it to be used in closer range effectively or for more flowing motions a large weapon would not otherwise be capable of as it can be gripped on the blade. The bottom of the hilt is also an edge, and can be used for shallow slashes or rather painful stab attacks, opening numerous opportunities for offense. The weapon is lightweight despite it's immense size, but hits hard and is very sharp; much like a zanpakuto it is very resistant to damage and gradually repairs itself if needed (repairs take three posts to complete). Being struck while repairing, however, undoes whatever recovery it has made and interrupts the process. In truth the weapon is an extension of Gangrel's body and soul - it has bloodflow and is technically alive, giving off reiatsu identical to his own. It produces blood in great abundance and can manipulate it's blood. It's organic structure is used or manipulated in many of it's techniques, combining reiatsu based moves with grotesque blood or flesh based moves that take either from it's own body or Gangrel's flesh. The sword is basically Gangrel's true form because it is by extension his own body, and can be moved within ten feet of himself by remote manipulation of the blood inside of it, though his strikes are most effective if wielding it by hand for the purpose of adding his strength to it's blows. All blood produced by Gangrel or the sword, also, can be moved and manipulated by his willpower and thought alone.
type: Blood manipulation
stat upgrades:
HAK+3
HOH+3
SEI+3
HAN+1
techniques:
Name: Teeth of Fafnir
Type: Offensive
Cooldown: Three posts
Cost: Moderate
Range: Long
Description: From the sword Gangrel gains in his true form, which is in fact an extension of his own body, Gangrel can release smaller fang shaped blades from it made entirely out of bone. They're covered in blood and perpetually release it, and the blood they are engulfed in often takes grotesque forms such as howling faces or spectral, vague figures clinging to the swords. These weapons can of course be used by hand, but they're not very durable, so they're unreliable and often broken. They are, however, possible to wield without holding - the blood they're covered in perpetually is rich in reiatsu, and can be manipulated to move the blades as if they were under the effect of telekinesis. Gangrel also has a sense of location for where each blade is, but generally needs to see the direction he wants them to attack in for their strikes to be effective, because the weapons are controlled by him entirely despite the illusion of figures clinging to them in the blood. Each "tooth" has a serrated edge, good for causing additional bleeding and large amounts of pain. The teeth can be controlled within no more than thirty feet of Gangrel's body, and will fall uselessly to the ground if he goes beyond this range. They remain dormant like this until he becomes close again. Only ten Teeth of Fefnir can be in existence at any time, and all existing teeth are completely destroyed upon the deactivation of Gangrel's True Form. Additionally, only one tooth can be made every three posts, and is likely to be destroyed before the next one is created.
Name: Breath of Nidhoggr
Type: Other
Cooldown: Four posts
Cost: Moderate
Range: Short
Description: From the skull on Gangrel's true form sword, this technique creates a red fog from the blood inside of the weapon. It takes a single post charge time in which the sword itself must not be used to attack, but after this time releases the fog, which covers an area ten feet around Gangrel in all directions. This fog can be moved by Gangrel, and usually follows him. This provides stealth and the reiatsu in the fog makes it horribly difficult to see through even with sight based techniques, but that's not the technique's true purpose. Gangrel is able to sense whatever the blood cloud is touching. This gives him a default sensory of what is around him within ten feet, and conceals his own location, providing mild advantages in close combat. However, the fog itself lasts only three posts, and then disperses back into blood. It can be blown away by wind techniques as well, which really sucks considering it takes a whole post of charge time to make.
Name: Jörmungandr
Type: Offensive
Cooldown: Three posts
Cost: High
Range: Short-Long
Description: Takes a post of charge time, in which huge amounts of blood gush from Gangrel's true form sword. This blood swirls around both him and the sword in a bloody cyclone. Upon the completion of the charge time, which is done to gather blood, Gangrel raises his sword high. The cyclone will begin to spin around just the blade itself, concentrating it's form until his next strike with the sword. With the next attack the blood is then unleashed forth as a huge wave suffused with Gangrel's reiatsu, allowing for it to be remotely manipulated. The wave moves with the force of a jet stream, meaning it can easily slice through stone and stands a good chance at cutting deep into metal if not through it. It will, however, mercilessly rend exposed flesh, and can strike numerous opponents in it's destructive path.
Name: Thursar
Type: Offensive (Potentially defensive)
Cooldown: Six posts
Cost: High
Range: Short
Description: In this technique Gangrel flows his reiatsu into his true form sword to greatly increase it's own supply, which is then used to produce blood from it's orifices. All blood produced by this begins to cycle around Gangrel in a large sphere, which continues to grow and flow more violently as blood is produced. the flow is strong enough to shred flesh from bone as well as deflect projectiles as it is suffused with Gangrel's reiatsu, but only covers the area around him. This technique is most effective while moving, as by moving the sphere, Gangrel will also be moving himself with it using blood manipulation. However, this motion is generally slow compared to someone using shunpo, but immobilized or slow targets face great danger in it's path. It can break down buildings with sustained contact.
OTHER
CHRONICLE OF HATE
THESE SCARS OUTLIVED THEIR MAKER
HISTORY:
After the fall of the roman empire, ancient France was the first to rise and take it's place.
Born to French nobility, Gangrel was the eldest son of a wealthy lord, but spurned for birthmarks on his flesh denounced as ill omens. As a direct result his younger brother was chosen as heir upon his birth, instead of Gangrel, who had been there first. His childhood was from thence consumed in jealousy.
Worse, he was made to care for his younger and unwanted sibling. The boy was named Leonard. Though held in high regard, Leonard was in fact retarded. Partially so, at least... Gangrel strove to surpass his sibling in every regard, and did so with ease. But despite earning superiority, he earned neither praise nor prize, doomed to be useless after Leonard's succession.
Determined to take what he felt was his, Gangrel shoved his younger sibling off a cliff and blamed the boy's death on a playmate of his, whom was executed. His father wouldn't put him up for succession however - and so, while the late lord grieved, Gangrel used his apothecarial knowledge gained from his vigorous studies to craft a poison, which he slipped into his father's food. Mere dayslater, Gangrel became the new lord of Orsino, a feifdom now lost to history.
Gangrel knew how to use his power, and had fantasized about it all his life. The drug of it all numbed his remorse. But he still sought to atone for his bitter acts, and was a generous, kind ruler to his subjects, praised for being far more loved than his father.
Gangrel's jealousy didn't quite end there, though. He wanted to claim everything his father had - and the one thing that wasn't yet his resided in the form of an aged, but attractive woman: his own mother. A sense of right to her drove him to seek her hand in marriage, as incest was not scorned so harshly in his time as it is now, but she refused him as she was still in grief. Persistence coupled with charm did provoke fornication between them however, and from the womb that made him came Gangrel's illegitimate but brilliant son, Aure.
Gangrel married quickly after Aure's birth and in secret his bride agreed to pretend as if Aure was their child, not the child of his mother's. She was the daughter of a lesser noble and thus easy to quickly make a bride out of... and because her family direly needed Gangrel's considerable success, she couldn't afford to reject his proposal even if it meant mothering a child not her own. Aure grew up never knowing his grandmother was in fact his true mother.
But shortly after bringing Aure to early adulthood, Gangrel died in battle amongst the knights of his land in defending against brigands. An arrow had punctured his lung and he died from drowning on his own blood... very painfully and slowly, but he had time to write a letter confessing both his own sins and whom Aure's true mother was to his only son.
Grief and a desire to see his son again led Gangrel to haunt the tiny forest where he had died, becoming a Demi-Hollow. Years passed and his chain of fate slowly decayed... but one day, his son happened to visit the place where Gangrel himself had died. Seeing his boy dressed as a proper lord as he'd deserved did much to ease Gangrel's fears. But... he didn't quite manage to pass on. Gangrel couldn't go to Soul Society because he had committed sins in life. Although, he had no idea such a place existed, nor that he was barred entry.
Slowly decaying in the forest, Gangrel began to forget his life as a human, and instead remembered only the bad; being jealous of his sibling, his first love whom led him on and used him for his status, but had no love for men and had simply pursued her own needs through him. Bitter thoughts consumed him. And one day, it all washed over him as a burning thirst for something inexplicable. His transformation into a Hollow had been the most painful thing he'd ever experienced...
From there on, Gangrel wasn't so different from any other Hollow. He lived as a predator and consumed souls without reservation - or humanity, for that matter. Every moral or shred of mercy he had as a human was incinerated by the thirst for live as he ate hundreds of humans, before regaining the tiniest flickers of intelligence and evolving to become a higher level Hollow. By the time Soul Society had taken notice of him roaming the human world, he had already moved on to Hueco Mundo.
Although much of himself was gone, what remained was the hatred. The memories of covetousness, envy and a sense of being done wrong... he enacted these shreds of his former self in a broken personality, having lost his past identity. His Hollow self was a Chimera, a goat-horned lion with the tail of a scorpion, the wings of a great white bat, and the eyes of a serpent.
Gangrel got lucky as a Hollow. His willpower just barely overcame the swarm of Hollows he fused with unintentionally, becoming a Gillian in the process. With only his mask and slowly growing individuality to separate himself from the other Gillian, he turned on the other towering Hollows, relentlessly eating. What he lacked in intelligence, he had in raw brute power, which was what kept him from becoming one of the many faceless Gillian. It didn't take long for him to reach Adjuchas state, but it brought about a huge change in him.
Apart from becoming humanoid vaguely, Gangrel became very strong. His Hollow powers were quite fierce and he didn't take any shit either. He subdued other Gillian and self aware Hollows to be his minions, which were more like bitches, and their only purpose was to round up more Hollows than he could chase down for himself. In exchange for feeding him, he threw them the scraps too small for his leonine maw and let them live.
Gangrel's pack wasn't strong, and the other Adjuchas chased them frequently, but always ended up running into Gangrel... he compensated for his weak allies by himself alone, overwhelming menos who traveled in groups with his sheer strength. His allies used tactics to either isolate Hollows or buy time when Gangrel couldn't defeat a group by himself, and in the centuries to come both he and those who followed him evolved extensively, until not even other Adjuchas could nourish them further.
It became clear one day they they were going to become Gillian again. Their time was running out... Gangrel might've had a chance, but they were history, and offered themselves to him to avoid being mindless drones. With his own survival to think of Gangrel consumed them; he'd thought about it anyway, and it wasn't a difficult choice for a Hollow to make, but it was something he'd regret forever. Afterwards, he achieved the peak of Menos evolution, eventually reaching a point where he tore off his own mask without fear.
As an Arrancar Gangrel had a lot of remorse. His only friends had failed to achieve shinigamification or evolution past being mere Adjuchas, and he survived where they perished. The fact that he had eaten them for his own sake weighed heavily on his now very humanoid self. There was no hunger to consume his loneliness now either... he was alone.
He never thought he would've ended up this way. He imagined somewhere his pack of minions would be with him forever, and he'd compensate for their weakness with his power. He never once thought that they might be the ones to die - instead of him, who did the real fighting. It all made him bitter, and jealous of Arrancar who had friends and lovers. He distanced himself from their society and instead spent time in the human world.
There, he amassed antiques and forged swords in his spare time, eventually becoming skilled enough to alter the shape and function of his zanpakuto. But one day, the Shinigami happened on him, two captains on patrol...
Gangrel put up a hell of a fight. Two captains wasn't enough. However, their respective squads appeared, bringing to Gangrel a sour reminder that he was alone in the world. He probably could've fought them to their limit and exhausted their energy reserves, then escaped, but... he didn't want to go on like this. He lived for nothing. And so he didn't try to escape. He continued to fight until their numbers overwhelmed him, consumed in rage for his own misfortune, and died ever so jealous of the bonds between him. In his last words he expressed how much he envied the captains that struck him down and that their bonds were fleeting... and that he had such ties of his own with others, once. He was satisfied to see a flicker of remorse in the eyes of those that had inflicted the 'X' shaped scar on his face as he seemed to be dying.
But then it all suddenly changed; his rather acceptable death was taken from him, as the gates to Hell manifested and hurled him into their depths. He was brought to the deepest, most anguished pits of existence in mere moments, finding himself surrounded by disfigured beings of immense power and others merely shrieking in pain as their surroundings tormented them.
Slain by Togabito there, Gangrel become attached to the chains that had brought him to Hell and became a Togabito himself. He had so many questions and even more anger now... that sense of being wronged that perhaps preserved his self awareness became stronger as his life became intolerable. The feeling grew until finally, he gathered the will to fight his chains, roaming Hell of his own free will until he found the Togabito that had struck him down while he was weakened. Satisfied, he was content to rest idly again in Hell, ignoring his torment and living in a numb state of being... until they came back.
All his enemies came back there. And he had to fight them, again and again, because now they wanted their revenge for the vengeance he had exacted on them. They mindlessly pursued their own wrathful desires and interrupted whatever peace he managed to make a step towards, forcing him to always battle or face further torment. Furious Gangrel slaughtered them again and again, learning to forge weapons in Hell and making various techniques, all of which were perfected by constant battle.
Eventually, Gangrel met some of the Hollows who had once followed him there in Hell. It pained him to see them there, and he tried to be their leader again... but unlike him they didn't have the strength to continued. They were idly tormented while he roamed freely, filling him with a greater sense of wrong. He often looked up at Hell's blood stained skies and ceilings to imagine the worlds beyond, and the Shinigami who took their unity and peace for granted where he had none. The concept of justice entered his mind then. And he felt even more wronged.
Seeking to free his former friends as well as himself, Gangrel made a point of using his rivals for practice to test his powers and weapons. The more determined he became, the faster he'd drive them off or defeat them, until he realized he actually knew Hell pretty well now - and the other Togabito gradually became less and less willing to challenge him. He was even able to claim territory for a while... until he met the Sins.
They were togabito stronger than himself. They defeated the kushanada, opening a way to enter the human world... Gangrel envied their strength and his jealousy grew, until he himself tried to enter, wherein he was surprised to meet success. But it compromised his anonymity with the rest of Hell. Seeing much use for him, the Sins brought him in as one of their own. Amongst them he developed a true form even, learning new power and realizing how far he had come... but still ever so furious that he had left those he knew behind again. His only resolve through it was a desire to come back and free them all, for good this time.
RP SAMPLE:
Approaching a table, the porcelain skinned male clenched his fist tightly into a ball and swung it downwards with a powerful descent of his arm, smashing it in half. Splinters and the sound of violent, crude snapping could be heard as the reinforced table was coarsely bisected by that single blow of inhuman might... splinters and chunks were sent flying, though they had curiously avoided the direction of their attacker.
He stood, panting as his pitch black lips curled with fearsome indiscriminate disgust, his lavender eyes wide with an infernal fury. Slowly, he rose his fist back up to his chest, straightening his fierce posture. "Waaargh!" He howled, shouting the wordless echo at the top of his lungs in a voice that rang of anguished hatred. Raising his other fist high he dropped to a knee and swung the entirety of his momentum into a single punch against the ground, cracking the floor of the chatbox and sending a pitch black ripple through it. Where the black circle moved, the ground became smooth black glass, that was then cracked by moving fractures coming from the fist of the white haired man. Rising, his fierce eyes looked upon his work so far... and the rage in them promised it was just beginning.
Holding both fists to his sides he tensed his entire body and braced his footing, as a tremendous mass of negative energy utterly engulfed his body as a terrifying dark aura, it's black fire-like form lapping greedily at his immune flesh, the only thing it would not destroy on contact. Lowly, a chanting groan began to escape him... it was a single harmonic, growing louder as the darkness swarmed around him, gradually becoming calm until...
"Be destroyed!"
The demand came with a thunderous outcry, as the darkness blew away from it's master to instead dive into the fractured black glass that had become the floor of the chat box. The cracks were driven into cavernous gaps by gigantic, cruelly shaped swords rising from between them, causing the ground to shake as the sound of glass grinding against metal released deafening noise throughout the chatbox. Nearly thirty blades could be seen, rising high enough to pierce the digital skies above with their hilts, which were either skeletal or thorned to make wielding them a grotesque and painful act. Shouting one more time with immaculate rage, Black Waltz lowered his fists and projected a pitch black ripple from his entire body again, engulfing the swords in his vital energy in an act that was surely draining his very consciousness.
The swords, upon being touched by that black spectral echo, began to rise... the grinding of glass on steel could be heard painfully once more until they rose high above it, but even that peace did not last. Black Waltz's form disappeared into a huge burst of white light surrounding him, covered in swirling tendrils of darkness at it's base... the glowing sphere detonated outward, engulfing the swords with a strange hum and shattering them... but as the explosion of aether cleared, Black Waltz could still be seen holding his ground, whilst the sight of the thirty skyscraper sized blades breaking apart still into an army of countless human sized blades awaited despairing eyes.
"Rain of blades."
As if uttering the name of this act was a command in and of itself, the swords took aim high above, before falling to the earth like a storm of sharpened meteorites. Countless vagrants and trollish denizens of the chat were skewered and sliced apart in the onslaught of supernatural swords raining down upon them, and each blade that hit the ground from the distant atmosphere above struck the land with such force that it was shattered and shot upwards in a dusty spew of debris, closely followed by whatever blood it had shed from their many victims. The collective blows of the blades made the ground shake violently in tremors of their fury, which was by extension the fury of their master, who stood unharmed by it all in it's midst. The splatters of blood began to spill unto him, plastering his pale skin with red blotches bit by bit, until he stood there alone surrounded by nothing but fleshy ribbons, torn earth, and endless blades charred black from thrusting through the outer atmosphere of the chat box. Panting, he fell to a knee and gripped at his gasping torso, having nearly exhausted himself in it all... but as he rose his cruel gaze, his breathing calmed, the beauty of the carnage he had wrought invigorating his body.
