Words: 460 Notes: -- -- Erin Tsubaki And the science gets done And you make a neat gun With the lieutenant saying a grand total of nothing after a short time, Ariella was confident enough to turn and leave. Erin made some awful noise when she grabbed the girl's wrist. Ariella only gave a small squeeze a return, a silent warning to cut that out. Ariella was sensitive to sounds, included tiny yelps. She was getting a headache as well, which was not going to be aided by unnecessary noises like the girl was so intent on making. After that though, Erin was pretty quiet. Good, good. Ariella started to walk away, bringing her free hand up to rub her temples. Since when had her days always been so.. tiresome?
Neither of them got very far. Before their get away was secured, the lieutenant acted. Ariella only heard her take off from the ground, but that only did so much for her. She was able to turn her head slightly and stop in her tracks. She still felt the knife slide across her leg. She bit back a hiss, keeping her eyes on the lieutenant to the best on her ability. While her leg was undergoing the effects of the poison, the woman threw that same knife right back at her. Ariella was hardly going to stand there this time though. She released Erin's wrist, pushing off with her other leg, avoiding the path of the flying knife. That was good and all, but her landing hardly was. She landed with both feet on the ground as one would expect to. The only issue was that her leg was already far out of use, sliding out from under her when she hit the ground. Ariella was left to fall rather ungracefully, almost to her face had she not caught herself with her hands.
She went on to sit up while the lieutenant gave her orders. She hardly looked intent on following them still, nor that threatened by any of it. If she was, she just wasn't showing it which was typical of her. Finally she ended her speech, and Ariella moved past it, looking over to Erin instead. "Help me up" she ordered the girl, not liking that she had to do so. Her order given, Ariella looked back to the woman. "Why do you want to know so much?" she asked, arching her brow in question. Was it her nature to be nosy? Had she been hired by some of those troublesome captains to give her Hell? Erin was hardly hurting anything. Even if she was, even that lieutenant should have known that Erin could easily be stomped out like a bug. "I'm not a big fan of tea" she stated bluntly, somewhat rejecting the woman's idea still. It didn't seem that great to her.

Erin gulped as her hand was given a little squeeze in recognition to the sound she had made. She lowered her head in recognition and let out a gentle sigh. At least they were moving away. As they walked she heard the sound and looked back, seeing a flash move past. Her eyes were wide in surprise as she flicked forward. She yanked hard as Ariella let go, while her right hand was yanking on her blade.
She was swinging hard and ready, timing, more than reacting since her lack of skill wouldn’t really allow anything more. She even began to close her eyes to visualize where Ariella had stood. She ended up swinging slightly low, which was good. Her uneven slash made the knife slide upwards, off of her blade and into the air. When she opened her eyes she saw Ariella on the ground and quickly sheathed her sword. “I’m sorry.” She said apologizing for nothing as she quickly began to pull Ariella up, and keep her stable by staying just under her arm. “I don’t mind tea..” She whispered before looking up, knowing only Ariella would have heard it. “Can we just deal with this here please?” She asked slightly louder.

Finally they were getting somewhere, and it was about time to, Tsubaki was more than just a little tired of this.
Look, I want to know because it's my job, and believe it or not, i'm one of the better people for you to be found by, I won't just arrest you on sight or worse, just kill you. If you can convince me that you really do have a good reason for being here, then I'll not only let you go scott free, I'll also help you if it becomes necessary, and no we can't just do this here, while I'm willing to look as if I'm dealing with intruders violently in public, it would be harder to explain a simple discussion with them. Now, take the antidote and get up.
Tsubaki threw a small red pill at Ariel as she said this, she always kept these handy since it wouldn't do to be taken down by your own weapon if someone got their hands on it.
I've given you my reasons now come with me.
With that Tsubaki turned and began walking once again, keeping an eye on the two, if they followed she would begin to use shunpo at a reduced rate so they could keep up as they went to her home outside of her garden, if they don't follow she would turn and draw out two more knives.

Words: 557 Notes: -- -- Erin Tsubaki And the science gets done And you make a neat gun With Erin's help, Ariella got up to her feet, or rather one foot, the other just somewhat existing beneath her somewhere. She glared down to the cut on her leg. It wasn't even that big, but it still was able to cause such an annoyance. Ariella was thinking that maybe Erin would get to be her test subject on some poisons and antidotes to repay her for all of the trouble she was getting the third seat into. She got into enough trouble by herself. She would get her blood tested as soon as possible for remnants of what was left of the poison, recreate as best as she could in bulk, then the fun would begin. Ariella glanced up to Erin, her face not really giving away just what it was she had come up with, but it was clear enough that it involved the girl. That was all for later though.
The woman was speaking again, answering her questions along with giving out more orders. Ariella almost rolled her eyes, instead just looking off to the side as she listened. She was mocking the woman in her head. Even she had enough knowledge of people to know that doing such out loud probably wasn't a good idea in that moment. She did however look back in time to see a small pill being thrown her way. Now, she could have saved part of it to help her with her tests with Erin later. So, she tossed the entire pill into her mouth swallowing with ease. In a few moments feeling began to return to her leg. She was able to put weight down on it, no longer needing to rely on Erin to stay up right, which was a good thing. The lieutenant barely gave her enough time to regain the use of her limb before she had taken off. Ariella grabbed Erin's arm, making sure she didn't get any further from her any time soon. With that she took off after the woman, though still hesitantly. Ariella just wanted to get this whole thing done with.
In no time flat, and with nothing said, they reached where ever it was the lieutenant had wanted them to meet. True, it wasn't as open to random strangers as the street, but Ariella half wondered if that was really a good thing. If the woman was cool with everything, then that would be great. If she wasn't... well then they were in for a bit more trouble. Ariella was almost thankful for all of the impossible fights she had found herself in lately. That low trust in people was going to pay off one of these days. "So we're here" she stated the obvious, taking a few steps forward, wondering just what it was they were supposed to do now. Her steps were still a bit awkward, her leg tingling as feeling rushed back into it still. With a quick glance to her leg, she then looked back to the woman, demanding some kind direction. If she was going to serve tea, well then she had best get to doing that, even if Ariella had every inclination to reject it. She didn't like tea from people who poisoned her. It was one of those common sense things. Being scientific in reasoning paid off that way.

Erin Abel - Age 19__________________________________________________________
Erin sighed when once again they’d be moving along. Thankfully Ariella had received a pill and it wasn’t necessary for Erin to drag her to where they were going. She simply kept her head lowered and followed behind Ariella. Twas such a shame they had been caught. It was quite dangerous and a bit of a hassle. In the end Erin was sure everything would end up alright. It would just take some time. Perhaps even the tea would be enjoyable. Unlike Ariella, she was sure there wouldn’t be poison in it. The Lieutenant quite clearly wouldn’t need such things to subdue them. The poison coating her blades would be sufficient enough, wouldn’t they?

Tsubaki opened her door and walked through, beckoning the two other shinigami. She pointed them towards a small dining room, the furniture was sparse, but there was a low table with a few cushions around it.
Sit there, I'll be back shortly.
Tsubaki then walked through the dining room into the adjoining kitchen, she could see straight through to the door from this room so she wasn't worried about them trying to sneak away, not that she couldn't just go after them if they did, but the clear view made that point a bit more obvious. She then set a clay pot on to boil and reached into various drawers and cabinets and pulled out several different plant leaves and roots. She swiftly and expertly chopped these ingredients into a fine mix and put measured portions into small metal strainers before putting them into the cups and pouring the now boiling water over them.
By the time she was finished putting up the supplies she the tea was done steeping and she removed the strainers with the ingredients and took the cups back to the table where she set them down at each of the three spots, and to prove they weren't poisoned she took a sip from each cup first, if there was one thing Tsubaki wouldn't tolerate, it was someone using tea as a weapon.
Now drink, calm down, and tell me the whole story.

Words: 376 Notes: -- -- Erin Tsubaki And the science gets done And you make a neat gun She was completely silent as she entered the home of the other shinigami. She didn't even glance at Erin as she did so, only continuing to hold onto her wrist, likely dragging the girl behind her a bit. Finally though, she released the girl when they were inside and reached the dining room where Ariella assumed all of the was going to go down. She looked around, noting her surroundings out of habit as she sat down on one of the cushions. One of the things she noted was that the lieutenant never let them out of her sights. It figured it would be like that.
In no time at all though the woman returned. Ariella only looked at her, not saying anything still. She didn't like this woman very much, so keeping her mouth closed was in her favor. The knife had done enough when it hit her leg. She didn't want to get to the point where she was being stabbed in the face, not doubting she could make things go there really fast. She did notice though that the drinks weren't poisoned, or she gathered as much from the woman trying them first. The woman also had antidotes though. They could have immunized her. There was also the fact that she really just didn't like tea playing a factor here. All of that amounted to her not even reaching out for the cup of tea.
Finally the question of the hour came up. Ariella started to speak, but then she realized that even she didn't have some details anymore. She knew the basics, enough for her to know Erin and take her in, but the lack of being personal about anything had really resulted in a lack of true reasoning. She made the promise to the quincy, but she only knew some vague things about who that guy even was in the end. Ariella shut her mouth, her gaze moving from the lieutenant over to Erin. It was pretty much her story anyway. Ariella's part came in at a later time. She could get into those details when the time came. For now, Erin was in the spotlight, given the task of saving their asses. Hopefully she didn't make more trouble.

Erin Abel - Age 19__________________________________________________________
All she really could do was follow. The tight grip on her wrist wasn’t allowing much for leeway. So she was there, holding hands with someone vastly more awkward than her still. It was curious, Ariella seemed to have quite an aversion to contact at times. Possibly she was lightening up a little. Erin sighed, thinking that her thoughts never fit the moment she thought them. Once her wrist was released she she moved to a spot and sat down. She was keeping her mouth shut for the most part.
Then after the tea was brought out and the question was asked, Erin looked to Ariella and waited. There was a slight sound moments before, possibly from Ariella attempting to speak, but it seemed everything would fall down on her. She was staring at Ariella, who was gazing back at her and then Erin sighed again. “Right, I guess I get to talk.” She said before she took a slow, long drink from her cup before she set it down. One more warm exhale before she stared at her cup.
“Time kinda feels different here.” She said. “When I was alive, I was a fullbringer. I was powerful too. At least, I was stronger than I am now, but I was rather uncontrolled. I had a boyfriend who was very adept at spiritual control, though I was still rather stronger than him.” She chuckled a bit, though one would swear that it was possibly one of the saddest sounds someone could make. “Even physically. He was kind of puny.” She said before she looked to Tsubaki. “Shit happened..” She said, figuring those were the best words. “I died. I came here, as do most people right?” She questioned rhetorically. “I still had power, more than almost everyone outside the seireitei. I was accepted to the academy, but I still remembered everything about my former life. That’s where all of the issues came from.”
Another drink to let that information sink in before she let the cup come back down to rest. “I escaped. Why I escaped, I uhm..” Erin stared at the near empty tea cup now and bit her lip slightly. She could feel a little water in her eyes but wanted it gone. “I’m still a teenager. You know. In the human world there’s tons of songs written about love and the afterlife. I tried to go back to Takes-” She paused and breathed out and in “-My boyfriend. When I was back in the human world I acquired my shikai, and I learned more about how to connect with my inner spirit. I met up with my friend, but he’s a quincy. He told me he wanted me gone.” She was holding back her breathing, but she couldn’t help that a tear or two slipped out, she only continued. “Then after that, Ariella brought me here. She found me and questioned me. She tested my abilities and saw that I was a capable shinigami. So once she decided I was, she brought me here and she is talking, or attempting to pass me through into the ranks of the shinigami once we’ve received proper authorizations. I left without permission because I grew anxious. And now here we are.”

Tsubaki slowly stood up and went back into the kitchen to grab some more tea ingredients and the pot of still boiling water. She walked back to the table and put the pot on a small ring in the center that would keep it from burning the wood and began to mix some ingredients together. She reached over and grabbed Erin's cup and put it beside her grabbing another cup from a nearby cupboard. She prepared the tea in the new cup and handed it to the girl.
Here, the chamomile should help you keep calm.
What Tsubaki didn't say was that several of the other ingredients would also help put her at ease by acting as mild deppressants.
She was silent for several minutes before she spoke again.
So now I know why you didn't want to just walk right in. Running away is often frowned upon, but that only satisfies half of my curiosity, now, Tsubaki looked at Ariella, where do you come in?

Ariella listened as quietly as ever, simply just watching Erin as she spoke. She noted how she seemed to tear up a bit when talking about that annoying quincy. She mentally rolled her eyes, keeping her straight face perfect on the outside. As the story went on, the visored leaned forward on the table, resting her head on her hand for the time being. Her hand went to the tea cup, but unlike a regular person she didn't pick it up to drink it. Instead she idly dipped her finger in, getting used to the temperature quickly, then moving on to stirring it around aimlessly.
For quite some time it became silent. Ariella didn't really notice how quiet it had gotten until the lieutenant was speaking. She lifted her gaze that had been vaguely directed at Erin the entire time, moving it along to the troublesome woman. She was hoping this was over. She got the overall story. That wasn't enough though. She wanted to hear Ariella's own words on it of course, though Erin had given her role in all of this before. Ariella didn't really see a point in hiding anything now. Erin spilled it all out already, so she would just go along as obediently as she knew how. That included taking her finger out of the tea, shaking her hand so stops spotted across the table.
"It's just as she told you. I was in the human world, and I came across the girl. She did try to use the same title she gave to you, but I'm more aware of the members of my own squad than you would be. Clearly if she couldn't fool you, she was no match for me" deep within that statement was a well planned insult, but she was pretty sure she masked it well enough. Pleased by that, she went on. "I thought it would be a good opportunity to study a natural rise to power. She left the academy without knowing much, as such she's quite the handicapped one compared to the rest of us. Though I didn't see it for myself, with just some small instruction she obtained her shikai, and I witnessed its power myself. The next time I came back I was working on finding her a place in squad twelve. It was the same time we met up with that man and he.." Ariella cut herself off there. She had almost gotten lost in her explanation, nearly revealing she had made that dumb promise to the man. Erin didn't need Roxanna know about all of that. "I became busy with another project, and I suppose Erin got bored or full of herself. Now I'm sitting here before you making up poisons in my head to test on her" with her tone it was hard to tell if she was serious or not. Really only Ariella knew in the end.
"That just about wraps it up" she exhaled. She had just said a lot more in her story than she usually said on a daily basis. It was strange, and she was very intent on saying as little words as possible from then on. Erin likely wouldn't have another word said to her outside of small orders if she became a bother. She glanced over to said shinigami, curious about how she was doing now. She had certainly gotten torn up before, and Ariella might have scared her some. People's reactions to things were just fascinating. Speaking of which, she looked back to the source of her detour from a trip straight back to squad twelve. Her reaction was a bit more important.

When her cup was refilled she closed her eyes and smiled with a slight nod, acting a little like a bow. “Thank you.” Her eyes opened slowly and she began to sip before the silence was broken by Tsubaki once again, this time asking about Ariella’s story. Erin listened in and out simply figuring that she knew just about everything Ariella was going to say. Once it neared the end her cup hit the table a little hard, since the words poison and testing had been brought up.
With a nervous laugh Erin waved it off. “She’s joking. That’s her way of joking.” She said before she turned her head to Ariella, meeting her eyes. Inside she couldn’t help but to say to herself, ”I really hope she’s joking.”

Tsubaki ignored Erin, though she did spare a thought of pity for the girl, she may think that Ariel was joking, but Tsubaki was well aware of squad twelve's propensity for experiments regardless of the subjects wishes. Instead she leveled her gaze on Ariel. The insult hadn't passed unnoticed, but Tsubaki decided not to bring it up, however she did store it in her memory for later, she would get Ariel back for it, but not now. Other than the small insult something had caught Tsubakis attention. Ariel had mentioned a man, but apparently it had been accidental given how she had tried to cover it up, and if Ariel didn't want Tsubaki to know about it then Tsubaki definitely wanted to know more, even if it meant bribing her.
Who is this he exactly? Who was it who told you to take on this girl? If you actually start cooperating I'll give you a sample of one of my more unique poisons.

Erin covered for her. Ariella glanced her way, noting how she looked nervous. That made her feel a bit better about this whole thing. Getting Erin to squirm a bit might she the girl that she needed to pay closer attention to the directions she wax given. If she did that, they would stop having this problem. Then the fullbringer would be her only hassle. That was for another day though. For now she started to get up, pretty sure they were done here.
That was a silly thought though. This woman was a thousand times more annoying than that bastard quincy now. She still wasn't satisfied. Of course she wasn't. Honestly, why did people have to be so nosey? Ariella let out and annoyed sigh, leaning forward on the table so she could rest her head on her hand. She made sure her elbow could be seen on the surface. She didn't know about eastern manners, but the westerns hated that kind of thing. If it disrespected the lieutenant Ariella would be pleased, and not the least bit scared.
"The quincy boyfriend our lovely Erin had. She already told you he didn't want her anymore. We found that out on a trip to go see him. We aren't some big, secret Mafia out to get the Soul Society. We're two people adding to the strength of it. Don't try to look for things that aren't there. You'll miss when something really dangerous is happening" her tone had grown cold as opposed to the neutral one she normally used. Her eyes hardened on the woman. How badly she just wanted to blast her away. She couldn't see any real point in that though finding it a waste of energy to draw even more attention to this spot.
"We'll be going now" she stated, not a hint of questioning in her voice. Ariella pushed her tea cup forward, dismissing it entirely as she got up to her feet. "Come on Erin" she ordered, her voice back to normal now. She didn't even look at the lieutenant as she headed outside. She didn't need to look at her to be able to tell if she was going to be attacked again. Her ears could do that for her now that she was paying close attention to every sound her ear pieces picked up. It would have been her pleasure to fight in self defense. She couldn't be in the wrong then. Still, she would have much preferred to just leave quietly.

Erin was sitting there still, after having covered and the next few words she was listening in on carefully. When she heard the words she looked up to Ariella, and without a single though said his name aloud, “Takeshima.” Her eyes watered a little and she sat there, feeling sad. Her head looked down to the table, and her hair covered her face.
When Ariella told the lieutenant that they would be going Erin didn’t move. When Ariella explicitly told Erin to come on Erin responded. “Ariella!” She said in a stiff, harsh tone, one meant to ring around the visored’s skull a little bit. “We have yet to be dismissed yet.” She said, sure she had caught Ariella at the door while she turned her eyes to Tsubaki. “Miss Tsubaki, we have a lot to do and talk about. I would like for you to allow us to leave now.” She said, almost commanding her request be granted, yet speaking so formally that her words were still polite.

Tsubaki's eyes widened slightly when she heard Erin mention who the Quincy was. It was Takeshima, and he had a connection within the soul society, which meant that she might be able to find him to do a follow up on that Quincy who had let loose the hollow bait. However before she could start interrogating Erin she had to deal with Ariella. She turned to Ariella and spoke.
You can go. I have all that I need from you, and if it becomes an issue I will endorse Erin's presence here. But I need her for a while longer.
With that Tsubaki got up, walked over to Erin, and pulled her up, then she towed Erin behind her as she went towards a door in the wall that would lead to the underground bonsai forest that held her workroom.
I need more information on Takeshima.
