A creek in the floor could be heard from several districts away; or at least that's how the current captain of squad 10 felt. No one in the room was speaking, the silence was becoming defining and sooner or later he was going to crack. Two crimson hued eyes stared forward at the other man across from him, a single canine escaping through the bottom of his lip. A scowl was spreading from right to left, and the other man didn't know what to do. Jin was rocking back and forth on his stool as he balanced himself on a single leg. A pen tapped the clipboard, and even with everything in his hands, he didn't write anything, say anything. His nose crunched up and then he dropped to the floor. "Look..." He started, looking down at his board. "Lee-yu...You're good, I like you but are you lieutenant material?"
The question was almost rhetorical as Jin release his reiatsu little by little, as he watched it becoming harder, and harder for him to breath. He stopped, pulling it back before smiling. "When you can breathe around me, come back. I like your sword, by the way...it's REALLY cool." The other man scurried off, mumbling nothings to himself before Jin stood from his seat, rubbing his face and placing his haori back onto his back. There may be times where the young captain got serious, but it was mostly filled with playfulness, kind words, and a carefree attitude; but not today. He needed to be at least mostly serious. He needed someone that he could count on in battle should he ever find himself in a battle.
He took in a long, deep breath trying to calm his nerves. This wasn't how he expected to end the day, he had been interviewing people all day and not a single one of them could even hope to take a breath around him. Then, before he could close up shop he heard a knock. What was this, another candidate? He scurried to his seat, grabbed his pen and clipboard, once more replaced his stoic features with a more serious one before leaning back on one leg of the stool. Clearing his throat, he called out loudly. "Come in!"

Upon hearing the words that would grant her entrance, Yuzuki placed a hand on the handle and slid the door open. As she was to step into a building's room, she had removed her waraji and tucked them into pockets. So with dark blue modified tabi, the young-but-not-so-young girl walked in and spotted the supposed Captain sitting awkwardly on a stool. At least he looked to be sitting such with only one leg on the floor so she was led to believe he was being awkward or crazy. One could injure themselves if they fell.
Giving her head a small shake, Yuzuki came to stand before the man and placed both her hands in front of her, at her waist. She wore the tradtional shihakusho but it was without sleeves and there was dark blue, skin-tight clothing on her upper arms as well as her hands and forearms. Besides that, the blue-haired girl wore her zanpakuto on her sash behind her, where it was partially hidden and could be drawn quickly with her right hand. As she gazed at the man with her cold blue eyes, she bowed a little and spoke.
"Greetings, Captain. I am Yuzuki Ketsura and I have come to apply for your open Lieutenant position." Her voice was soft and slightly musical yet there was a firmness to it that belied her true nature of being anything but soft.

Two pairs of strong eyes stared back at one another as the woman entered the room. Jin waved for the two guards outside to keep the doors open. He wanted this last one to be something special. He wanted to see just what this young woman could do. She stood there, she was confident; something Lee-yu lacked. He checked it off of his list, staring down at the check list. His attention only taken back to her when she spoke.
He knew who she was, he remembered everyone of his division members faces, but normally their names escaped him. He nodded and smiled. "Pleasure to finally meet you, Yuzuki. Now I know I'm new as captain; you don't really know me, what I can do, or really anything for that matter, But I can assure you, I am the best suited man for this job." The words echoed gently, his voice retaining a calm nature about it while he twirled his pen around. How much patience did this girl have? He wondered how much longer she could take with him beating around the bush like this.
He grinned and dropped the stool, the legs hitting the floor hard and with a loud 'crack'. He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing at the woman. "How good are you though? Are you Lieutenant material?" He asked, his reiatsu peaking little by little, rising to see just how much this girl could take. He stopped after a moment, grinning and standing. This time was going to be different; he knew this girl was at least decently powerful.
"Why don't you tell me about your strengths. I don't want to know your weaknesses; we all need them to keep ourselves humble." He smiled , gripping his sword that leaned against the wall behind him, bringing the blade across the table. "This is Zetsumei; He's been my friend for the last four centuries. Honestly, I don't know how I ever bested him." The ever growing temptation to act out, go wild, and just utterly be himself was intense, but he needed to maintain a sense of responsibility with his division. He needed to be...professional.

She watched him as he watched her. It was like they were sizing each other up. Yuzuki sure was, looking for any signs on what the Captain might do next. Though she steeled herself both physically and mentally for whatever might happened. She had felt him releasing his reiatsu on the poor guy before her so she figured something like that might occur soon. However, he greeted her first, in response to her own. She simply nodded a bit in acknowledgement.
Then came the question, was she Lieutenant material? Before she could ponder this, she felt a force weighing her down. Her mouth had been open to give a reply but instead her breath caught as a small gasp. Yuzuki immediately clamped her mouth shut and breathed in deeply. It felt slightly ragged but she held her ground and exhaled slowly. What she needed to do was regulate her own breathing and just withstand the man's powerful reiatsu. As suddenly as it began, it was over and the Captain was standing with a grin. She fought the urge to sag and sigh with relief. Instead she stared at him, waiting not-so-patiently.
Get on with it dammit! She thought irritably.
"Well, I'm an excellent fighter.." She said in response to him. "At least I believe as much from what my peers say." She allowed herself a little smile, to smirk in the face of danger.
"And I'd like to think my speed is something to behold. Of course, it wouldn't be anything compared to you or any other Captain." She didn't want him to think she was entirely haughty. Reaching behind her, she lightly caressed the hilt of her own zanpakuto.
"Zetsumei, eh? I'd like to have a friendship that lasts for four centuries, or more. I've only known Kazeikusa for a little over forty years. Hopefully he and I will accomplish great feats in the future."

Jin could see the irritation written all over her face. She wasn't hard to read, or maybe she was just making it obvious she didn't like waiting. Jin laughed at the thought, she was much better than he was then already; She was going to be a good balance if she could pass the rest of his tests. She seemed ready, calm and collected, but was she truly? Was this all a face she felt she needed to put on to bring him some sort of comfort about making her his Lieutenant? He wasn't sure at the moment, but he was sure that given enough time he may just be able to figure her out.
Then, just like that, a wild grin spread wickedly across his features. She was strong eh? Her comrades said so eh? Well then, Jin was just gonna have to test that out for himself. What better way to pick your Lieutenant than with rough training, tests, and breathing exercises. Jin gripped his blade, walking around the table and to the doorway. "You want to have that kind of friendship with your sword? Well, I may have just the thing for that." He said with an odd amount of enthusiasm. There weren't many, in his opinion, that shared the bond he did with his sword. Then again, who stabbed themselves multiple times just to activate bankai? "Come; We're gonna see just how good you are. I need to trust you you in combat, I need to know you have my back at all times."
Jin started, his sword swaying with his arms as he entered the open field. He drew his blade, and turning to the woman. His eyes narrowed, and he readied himself to defend against her attacks. "Now, I want you to come at me with everything you've got. Don't hold anything back. I'm tougher than I look." He winked, the calmness in his eyes were ever apparent. Silver locks falling in every which direction. He was ready, but was this girl?

Yuzuki waited while he talked, trying her best to make her facial expression blank. She was sure he saw her slight irritation, so it was basically useless. So he said he might have a way to improve her relationship with Kazeikusa? She was mildly interested in what way the Captain had in mind. She had watched him take his blade and walk towards the door as he talked. She perked up when he wanted her to follow, which she did. Yuzuki had the feeling he wanted a fight.
Once outside, she took a moment to familiarize herself with her surroundings. An open, flat field. It would be a perfect battleground. When her attention returned to the Captain, he had his zanpakuto out and was informing her to attack him with everything she had. She hesitated a moment, pondering whether or not she was to reveal her Shikai. If this was the way he had said was to improve her relationship with her zanpakuto, then she must. She took a moment to slip her waraji back on then stepped forwards with her right foot. At that moment, she quickly drew her zanpakuto and crouched down, sliding her sword near that foot.
"Rush..Kazeikusa!" She called out.
Her reiatsu in the form of air surrounded her as her zanpakuto turned into blue energy and left her hand to mold itself around her foot. It quickly covered her foot and lower leg, though concealed under her hakama, and became a metallic armored boot with a vertical curving blade on the front of the foot. Hidden by the hakama was a larger blade running up the shin while a smaller one was on her armored calf. Twin small wings were on her ankles. Small bits of her zanpakuto reiatsu slipped away to add safety armoring around her left foot and plating on her hands.
Almost immediately after the transformation, Yuzuki dashed towards her Captain. She avoided using Shunpo, so not to reveal her entire hand, so to speak. As she closed the short distance, she jumped and kicked her foot ahead, intending to plant the bottom of her foot on the man's chest. There weren't any spikes or bladed extensions on the bottom, so it would mostly be a blunt attack. (First attack post ftw. Am I missing anything?)

Jin watched in utter amusement at the turn of events. He did tell her to go all out; He did tell her to show him everything, and the fact that she has her shikai already, well that was just the icing on the cake. She was easily becoming his favorite subordinate and he had just truly met her. Not to mention he just loved her release style, it was beautifully done, and it was unique. It had been the first time he saw one attached to their leg. He clapped for a moment before his soon to be lieutenant came at him; she didn't shunpo, which honestly surprised him. Skill? She had it.
She leaped into the air, bringing her flat foot to the young captains chest. His head drooped, and a loud 'oof' came from his lips. He had waited for a moment, sliding back with her before grinning, raising his had and attempting to grab her foot. if that were successful, he would throw her away using both hands. He chuckled softly, brushing his chest and smiling at the young girl. "Not bad. You've got some strength, but you're gonna have to do better than that if you want to impress me. How about you show me that speed of yours...I'll show you mine."
He winked once more, bringing his sword arm down and getting into stance. Power? She had that too. Luckily for Jin he could take a lot of hits, he was as durable as he claimed to be. But that wasn't important, Jin crouched down and in a flash, he was gone. He hadn't gone as fast as he could, making the decision to leave his more impressive speeds if this girl could keep up. Exiting the shunpo in front of her her, Jin brought his sword arm down, swinging his blade at a moderate speed, just trying to see how she could react now. Everything was a test, and while there wasn't a wrong answer...he wasn't sure if she would give him the right answer. "I need my Lieutenant to be cunning." Hints were dropped everywhere, it was up to her though if she wanted to pick them up.

As her foot came in contact with his chest, Yuzuki idly wondered why he didn't dodge. Her superior strength forced his body back and he gave an indication that he was hit but she got the feeling she did little to no damage at all. That was evident when his head snapped up with a grin and grabbed her armored foot. She could do nothing as he grabbed and threw her back. However, she responded by twisting her body and flipping until she landed back on the ground, a few meters from her Captain. It was just in time to witness his brief speech before vanishing. She knew he had used Shunpo.
Suddenly he appeared in front of her and was slashing his zanpakuto down at her. Acting quickly, Yuzuki stepped her left foot back, leaned backwards and raised her right leg up, bending her knee. This way her armored leg and his blade would collide. As soon as contact would happen, she would straighten her leg and kick her foot upwards, which would be somewhere near his hand, in an attempt to either indirectly hit his hand or knock the sword away. Either way, Yuzuki would follow up by drawing her leg back and kicking it forwards again while jumping with the other foot and swinging it forwards to kick at the man as she pulls her armored leg back to land on the ground.
"Hyaaaaa." (yeah, something like that >__>)

"Alright. I'm liking what I'm seeing!"
A wild grin came across his face as the woman readjusted her body to bring her leg upward, probably trying to knock his hand away. Jin wasn't going to have that. Luckily, her own deflection of his swing caused his arm to go back into the air, giving him some room to maneuver his blade in such a way that the hilt was now pointing toward the sky, and the steel blade ran adjutant of his forearm. Using the new support that this gave him, Jin brought his arm down connecting his blade with her leg.
Even more impressive was the way she reacted after that, twirling her body to once more kick at the man. Jin brought his arms up, using the blade that still ran along his forearm at the front, blocking the kicks. Jin leaped backwards, his left hand entering his pocket while a much more apparent grin ran along his face. His head tilted to the side, twirling the blade so it was in a normal position only to then lift it into the air, and placing it along his shoulder. "You are good Yuzu. Yuzu is fine right? Right. You're good."
Jin pulled his left hand out of his pocket, and moving it behind him. To her he would have been scratching his back but what he had really been doing was sending a signal to the remaining guards stationed around him. This signal was to alert them, and let them know to follow up on the next phase of the test. The next phase? To attack Jin and see if the girl would protect her captain. He needed to know that the trust was there. However, to not give anything away Jin started to speak. "I'd even dare to say that you already grew closer to your sword. The connection you have is determined by how much you're willing to work together."
He started, closing his eyes and smiling. He did this to not give it away that, perhaps he didn't see the plan in motion. And wouldn't you know it as he spoke his subordinates went on the move. They all leaped from over the gates, from around the walls, and even from behind the woman. All of them were headed for him. There was two behind him, one to his left, and one coming from behind the girl. Surely time would have slowed for the girl. Let's see what she does, eh Zetsumei? Mhm...you better know what you're doing.
