The day in Seireitei was normal as shinigami and common souls went about their day. At the arrival station, a bright flash of light suddenly appeared, followed by a Senkaimon fading into existence. The doors open with a silent click, and reveal one Izuru Kira behind them. Kira deftly ran a hand through his hair’s bang, and stepped out and onto Seireitei soil. ‘It’s so good to be home...’ Kira thought as he looked around Seireitei. It had been quite some time since he had returned here, having spent the past two months in the World of the Living hunting hollows. He quickly readjusted Wabisuke on his hip, and made sure his Lieutenant’s badge was tightly wrapped onto his left arm, before walking away from the station and through the streets of Seireitei.
As Izuru passed through the streets, he mentally noted how they seemed rather empty for the time of the day. Usually there was much more activity, to which he just assumed it was a slow day. Sighing, he looked around, trying to find any familiar faces in the crowd, though failed to find a single one. He figured that all of the others were off doing something important, to which he had nothing to do other than deliver his report to his captain. His captain was a woman by the name of Shego, and in Izuru’s opinion seemed fit for the position. Giving up on trying to find any of his friends in the crowd of endless faces, he quickly turned around, and headed for his barracks to meet with his captain.
Walking past the buildings, he quickly looked up at the sky, and was content with watching the clouds as he made his way down the street. Izuru seemed slightly out of it as he walked, nearly falling into a daydream on his feet. He quickly thought the idea was ludicrous. Was it even possible to fall asleep standing up? He realized that he was sweating slightly. Grabbing for a small cloth in his shihakusho, he quickly cleared his forehead from sweat, trying to protect his eyes from the burning sensation he would feel if it got that far.
Sticking the cloth back into it’s pocket, he continued wandering Seireitei, while steadily making his way to his barracks. Popping a few of his fingers, he noticed he had made it about ½ way to his destination. Sighing at the report he’d have to give, Izuru continued on his way, wondering if any of his friends would be along the way, or if he’d meet any new faces that had popped up while he had been gone. Only time, and his walking speed, would tell...

Shego meticulously went over documents her subordinates turned in, giving them no leave until she went over the details with them. It was quickly known in the Sanbantai that slacking and false information, depending on the nature, was not taken lightly -- especially in the business they were in. "Are you certain?" she asked in a calm, eery manner. Papers set aside to give the informants her full attention. The very tone of her question laced with malice. "Y-Yes, Taicho. We've triple check and cross referenced to our sources, it is fact," stated one of the two shinigami seated in her office. For secrecy sake, she called them only by letters 'A' and 'B' respectively.
"Very well. Continue with observations for now, dismissed." Shego waved off the pair, sending them back to their division -- the Second Division to be exact. You see, Shego had been developing a network of spies throughout Seireitei since she had risen to Captain status, planting each one of her seeds in every division. The nature of her division, and her curiosity, entailed the housing of information both foreign and domestic. Processing, manipulating and organizing data in a way that adds to the knowledge of herself and select figures.
Information is the pinnacle of safe neutrality; it is simple, helpful heaping of unassailable facts. In that innocent guise, its the perfect starting point for a technocratic political agenda that wants as little exposure for its objectives as possible. After all, what can anyone say against information? It is with this constant stream of information that Shego maintains a strong political base under a moniker -- keeping strings on the noble houses, wealthy men and women, inner circles of allied divisions. All of this snooping ties to a grander cause, and that is to prevent another Aizen from springing up.
To achieve this she must have pure information. No fabrications, no forced answers. The purest of knowledge is learned by those comfortable in safe surroundings.
Shego, after dismissing her informants, began to scribble down personal notes about certain people before being interrupted. "Taicho-sama," a stocky man entered her office, bowing in respect. "Lieutenant Izuru Kira has returned from the living world. Shall I send for him?" Shego sat down her pen, the news giving her a brief moment to ponder. "No need. I'll go to him myself." Shego responded, her lackie nodding, taking off as the Captain came to a stand, straightening out her haori, putting away her things, and heading off to meet Kira.
Their relationship was growing to say the least. In its current form, the woman is uncertain about letting Kira into her private world. On the surface, and the given knowledge to her second in command is that the division processes field reports from other divisions and all legalities regarding Seireitei. It wouldn't be long before Shego would arrive in Kira's general area - the two coming and going the same path it was bound they would eventually meet.

Izuru sighed as he continued towards his barracks, coming to terms with his current predicament. It wasn’t often he found himself in such a situation, in fact, it was almost impossible for something like this to happen to him, but he figured that he had spent so long in the human world, that it was bound to occur. What was his predicament you ask? Izuru was undeniably lost. He knew that he was still headed in the general direction of his barracks, he just didn’t know the street layout that lead to them, and he was getting slightly annoyed, but it didn’t show on his face.
As he walked, he could feel his captain’s reiatsu, and it was approaching his position. He knew that his captain was probably on her way to find him, something that had been happening a lot since she had taken over the position. He wouldn’t call his own personal relationship with her close by any stretch of the word. It was mostly professional, though he could tell there were a few moments where she wanted it to grow slightly, but his indifference probably threw her off every time she tried such an action. ‘Just another reason why no one gets close... I suppose it’s better this way...so something like that can’t happen again.’ He quickly shook his head when he thought of his former captain, Gin Ichimaru. It wouldn’t do his mental health any good if he thought of such bad memories.
The main thing he remembered about his captain, was the fact that he successfully was able to manipulate him so easily... and it was something that drove Izuru to the brink of anger. That someone could manipulate his loyalty to his orders was maddening to Izuru, why someone would do things like that confused him to know end. ‘I suppose there are just such people in the world...’ Trying to rid his head of the thoughts once more, he turned his attention to the street, noticing that there were no people oddly. He assumed that he had wandered into an abandoned portion of Seireitei, which was feasible considering there werethat many of them around.
Scratching his head, he stopped for a moment to take in his surroundings. Trying to pinpoint his location, he looked for specific markers, but couldn’t seem to find one. He quickly decided to forgo looking for a defining feature, and walked in the direction of his captain’s reiatsu. Surely this would lead him towards his barracks right? Sighing again, he walked on, certain that he was headed in the right direction, but only time would tell he supposed...

Shego had heard the traumatic experience Kira has suffered at the hands of his former captain, Gin Ichimaru. It was this very piece of his history that caused her to be so reluctant. Surely if he had found out about her true nature, he would either contest her, or bring it to Yamamoto. Both of which would end up down one path: Kira dying. It's a hard thing to justify -- spying on comrades, even if under a noble cause. Traitor is not a good title to have under one's name. In any case, the two would meet as expected, Kira's reiatsu signature was unique to her senses, allowing her to pin-point his location.
"Welcome back, Kira." Shego would say upon meeting her second-in-command after two months. The woman looking down at her lieutenant, an odd pairing when compared to other divisions. "It's been awhile since we last spoke. Report to me your dealings in the living world over a drink and yakitori. I'll treat." Treating those around her wasn't unheard of in her division -- only warranted to those she could tolerate and to those who have done a stellar job. With an idle wave of the hand, she shifted her direction towards the inner most section of Seireitei -- the bustling area filled with bars, food, and social hot spots.
Normally she would be in her office, mulling over more paperwork from other divisions and analyzing data, but in order to achieve a perfect balance in her life -- smooth sailing in her unofficial plans, she'd have to befriend her lieutentant, take their relationship beyond professional.

Izuru’s left eyebrow raised, though because of his bang, it was hidden from his captain. What could’ve brought on this sudden attempt of formality? He had never thought of having anything other than a professional relationship with his superior, but a personal one? No, the thought seemed absurd to Izuru, especially after what had happened with Gin. However, before he could utter a deny, a thought struck him. What if it was a genuine attempt? Surely the odds of receiving a deceptive captain twice in the same lifetime, was extremely astronomical right? Still... the odds weren’t in his favor, but should he chance it? He received no response, knowing that he would have to rely on his better judgement for this.
Izuru slowly nods his head, showing slight reluctance. The only ones he had trusted up to this point were his closest friends, Hisagi and Momo, and he hadn’t seen them for nearly 4 months... he had been hoping to find them on the way to his barracks, but it was clear they were elsewhere. He internally sighed, still unsure of how this meeting with his captain would turn out, he hoped, however, that it would be favorable for him. He didn’t want to end up fighting his comrades again, something that Gin had manipulated him into doing. Doing a quick cursory scan, he tried to feel for Hisagi or Momo’s reiatsu, but frowned slightly when he came back with nothing. He sighed, out loud this time, and motioned for his captain to start the walk towards the restaurant.

The displeased look on Kira's face was incredibly noticeable, though not painful to look at as many would give in to such a sad sap and shower them with affection and love. Not Shego, at least not in the traditional way one might think. She was fascinated by the man's distress, his once deep bond with someone he'd gladly throw his life away for -- crushed in a mere twenty-four hours. "It must've been tough, Kira. A world turned on its head with no real way of immediate recovery. I can't say I've had the same experience. My life was wildly different then -- even before." The Captain paused, reminiscing on her life in Rukongai, a small grin forming on her face.
Shego took the forefront towards one of many restaurants in the hustling strip of Seireitei. Instantly the pair were recognized by the lessers of neighboring divisions, some of their own were mixed in. Members aligned to their division officially, and some only Shego knows. Considering Shego's undecipherable nature and deformity, approaching her becomes a mental and physical risk. "In any case. Pain is an insufficient reason not to embrace life. Being dead is quite painless. Pain, like time, is going to come on regardless. Question, what glorious moments can you win from life in addition to the pain? I'm certain in light of Gin's departure, you've managed to achieve some glorious moments."
Stronger bonds with friends, new bonds forged, zanpaktou strengthening, other duties put off but then picked up. There were many glorious moments that did not solely pertain to battle. While shocked and crippled by betrayal, Kira most definitely at least had one or two moments of glory once the dust settled. The duo would reach the restaurant, gaining the praise of the owner and his staff. "Welcome, welcome! Taicho-sama and her lieutenant! Please, please, follow me. We'll make a space just for you two." They would be lead towards the bar end of the place, removed from most people, but not entirely. Tea was immediately set out for them, Shego ordering herself Yakitori, Kira having liberties of ordering whatever he was in the mood for. With a closed mouth, Shego took a casual sip from her cup. "Now about that report.."

Izuru quickly took his seat, opposite of his captain. As she continued with her speech, he seemed eerily silent. He slowly began to re-evaluate his current position. Did he truly have any ‘glorious moments’ as his captain had put it? There was the fight between him and one Abirama Redder, but Izuru would hardly call that glorious. More like repulsive, as he had been forced to use his zanpakuto’s true feature... shaking the grim thoughts out of his head, he quickly ordered his food, having neglected the waiter during his mental rant. After he orders, he quickly recalls the patrol in his head, remembering almost every little detail, as he begins to recount the time he spent to his captain.
He went over practically every detail of his assignment, everything, even down to the exact amount of time he had spent on patrol while out. He also recounted the fight he had been in with the lingering arrancar, Velsa Shikage, though it was redundant in his opinion because of the report he had sent to the Captain-Commander. Remarking in his own words, he stated how he had viewed the arrancar as much weaker than his brethren, accounted to the fact that the arrancar hadn’t used a release, Izuru doubted he could have used one, though he was lucky in his own opinion to have come out of the fight relatively unscathed.
Finishing his report on the matter of slightly increased hollow activity, Izuru sighed slightly, still weary from the patrol. Having been away from Seireitei for two months caused Izuru to be slightly winded when he re-entered. He had to grow used to the powerful reiatsu signatures again, something he knew probably wouldn’t happen for a good week or two. He silently waited for his captain to give her response to his report.

Shego took a couple casual sips, observing her lieutenant drifting off in a stupor, no doubt recollecting on past deeds and triumphs. He was still shaken up based on his body language and silence -- though to his credit, part of his reluctance is part of his nature. With both orders taken, the two would be able to experience some quality time. Kira went over the details with perfect accuracy; from the moment he arrived in the living realm to the moment he left. Such flair for the details was something she'd have to keep in mind as it proved to be both beneficial and detrimental.
Some things interested her, but most did not. Everything he reported to her were of standard procedures. "Yes, even fledglings have to start somewhere," she commented on the Arrancar, letting out a light chuckle in remembrance of her encounter with a particular group of fullbringers many years back. "Nothing interesting," her final comment on his report, giving him a light shrug. "It's nothing the Tenth Division can't handle," she swirled around her cup, peering into the mini cyclone she created. "Do you plan to reunite with your comrades? I'm sure you have a lot of catching up to do. More over, while I have you here, what are your plans in the division? I can't imagine you taking orders from me without some hesitation."
Shego poked his old wounds, attempting to gauge where his loyalty lies, and the steps needed to adapt. "Some of our priorities are going to be shifting. Far from how your former captain handled things. The most important detail I want to hand to you is that we will be handling interrogations. That includes levels of mental and physical tact -- you will have to get your hands dirty when needed. Is that something you can handle, Kira?" Shego spoke so casually, setting aside her cup upon noticing their orders arriving. For her it was a fresh plate of Yakitori, coated with sweet and spicy glaze. Without hesitation, the woman plucked one of the skewers, opening her mouth to reveal a full row of jagged teeth and the lack of connecting cheek muscles.

Izuru was slightly anxious, though he didn't let it show. His defenses were barely relenting, he could tell something was off, but he couldn't put his finger on it... He winced a little when she brought up past memories, but he quickly suppressed them, now was not a good time to relive the past. Was she intending for this? It seemed that way as she awaited a response from him. Clearing his head and throat, he started to answer her questions, anxiety having a minor presence in his tone.
“If you mean my friends, I do intend to find them. I had hoped to run into them on the way here, but obviously didn't. As for my plans? I intend to become stronger. Do I see myself as captain? In my own opinion, highly unlikely, but if the situation comes to it, I will become one if need be.” He finished his sentences with a solemn voice, still internally questioning his captain’s motives. ‘What is she up to?’ His thoughts went unanswered as she moved the conversation forward, by mentioning the division starting with interrogations. Izuru could handle such things, but mention his former captain? He was certain that she was testing him in some form or another, but didn’t have the conclusive evidence to call her out on it. He quickly gave his response.
“Of course it is... I’ve been a lieutenant for quite some time... I’d have to be used to such things at this point.” His anxiety grew slightly when the food arrived, he subconsciously began to tap his foot, worried that something might happen. It was almost as if she was trying to goad him into something, but he tried to suppress the thoughtful look that had crept in his eyes. Silently thanking that the food had arrived he took his, which was several Onigiri, and bit off of one, silently awaiting, and slightly dreading, his captain’s response.

Shego tore into the yakitori like she did the conversation; ruthlessly. After finishing the first skewer, the captain licked her lips contently, shifting her visuals towards Kira, who found her behavior curious, devious almost. He would be right in his gut feeling, but his indecisiveness would prevent him from decoding her intention. And her intention, of course, was to sway him to her method of thinking, subjective rather than objective. She has managed to weave her web throughout the division with careful planning, brute force, and cunning. The next piece of the puzzle was Kira.
It would be difficult to persuade a man who has been traumatized this severe. Mental reconditioning over the course of their time together -- a steady few months, weeks maybe? Shego internally debated on how to handle Kira, eying him up cautiously. Her sharp eyes, permanent eery smile, all of it screamed abnormal. She bore silence for two minutes, just staring at her lieutenant. "Do I make you nervous?" she finally spoke; calm and collected, a lone mocha hand shifting towards the man's pale face, gently giving the right side of his cheek a once over before lightly holding his head by the chin.
"Can you really handle it, lieutenant? Can you handle doing what is necessary if the time comes? Where you have to balance the lives of many -- your friends, your honor, yourself. If Gin has broken you this much, left such a lasting impression on your psyche.." Her grip increased slightly around his mandible, enough to force his head still to face her. "How can I trust you? Why should I trust a broken man?" Her voice was sharp and stern, hinting at a level of annoyance in her lieutenants timid nature. Another test, surely.

Izuru had been calm at the beginning of the conversation, and he was completely nervous now. His foot tapping increased very slightly in speed, his own personal way of trying to find an external way to release his internal uncertainty. His one visible eye was slightly widened, and looking around the room, trying to find some form of outlet for the conversation to switch to, rather than what was a sensitive subject for Izuru. Why was she bringing this up now, when it held almost no relevance? Something was off, he just couldn’t figure it out. He relaxed slightly when she continued talking, though he seemed... perturbed when she started touching him.
“Of course not. What would ever give you that impression?” Izuru’s voice was laden with slight sarcasm, though you could still tell the undertone of emotionless in his voice. His foot slowly started to stop tapping, he was starting to calm down, if only slightly. HIs eyes were slightly narrowed as he stared at his captain, trying to match her seeming aggressive nature. Just what was she playing at? Izuru silently thought over of his captain’s current ramblings, still unsure if he should answer them. It was almost as if she was taunting him with the information, something that made him angry, which is a rare thing to see. Gritting his teeth slightly, he let his answer reverberate.
“Who said I was broken? After all... I've retained my Lieutenancy all this time... I’m not ‘broken’ as you put it. Ichimaru-san’s departure did affect me, but I've been trying to let such things go. It’s of no use to me to hold onto them.” Izuru seemed extremely confident, matching his captain’s gaze for the entirety of his statement. He silently awaited his captain’s response, grabbing a second onigiri and taking a bite while doing so.
