Soon-ja smiled behind her mask as she felt the slight flare of Reiatsu from the other two Shinigami. At they seemed to be taking the situation a little more seriously; both seemed to have released their Shikai. Trace’s Zanpakuto seemed to have reformed into a western sword and, given his newly acquired shield, Soon-ja could only assume his defensive capabilities were somewhat augmented as well. It was difficult to tell due to her distance from the weapon but, as far as she could tell, Jin’s blade merely changed color and elongated. She wasn’t one to judge on pure appearances, however. Her own releases, including her Bankai, had only minor changes – far from the flashiness she’d expected.
It was highly possible the combined Reiatsu of the congregated Shinigami was what really forced the mass of hollows into action. Sure the hollow bait was possibly to blame, but this many hollows alongside the higher classed Menos were certainly an escalation of that. In their valiant efforts to clean up the streets, perhaps they’d brought the masses upon themselves. Even if they were the ones causing the commotion, there wasn’t much to do about it now other than keep the approaching hollow from spilling into the town.
Soon-ja fired off a second Cero, followed swiftly by a third. She aimed for the larger clusters of generic hollows, letting the others take care of the Gillians. Her rapid attacks were slowly exhausting her Reiryoku, something she carefully monitored. She’d donned her mask specifically to use the technique: she was going to get what she needed out of the short time she could keep it active. “Nobody is going to notice if all you do is clean out all the small fry. At least try and aim for the Menos.” Her hollow’s voice hissed with annoyance. While Soon-ja was hesitant to follower her hollow’s suggestion, she wasn’t in a good position for a power struggle. There was no real reason why she couldn’t spare a moment to help eliminate some of the larger threats.
”Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! Hadō No. 63: Raikōhō!"
[/b] Soon-ja used the full incantation to avoid any extra stain on her body, holding her palm towards the closest Gillian. The wave of shimmering yellow Reiryoku slammed into her target, causing the great Menos to shudder, slowly collapsing under the sheer power of the attack. As soon as the creature disintegrated into the wind, another had already taken its place. Was there no end to them? Soon-ja glanced around, hoping her ally’s new powers would be enough to push back the remaining hollows. A glob of spit splattered on the pavement far below as Thurstan spewed saliva from his lips. This was boring. His sword sliced downward through the mask of an adjuchas who’d continued to mock Thurstan up until the ugly bastard’s body evaporated into nothing. Even after he’d killed the damned super gillian, the other hollows didn’t seem to retreat or even take notice of its death. A frown grew across Thurstan’s face as he almost casually deflected a cero with his shield. This was more annoying and strange than it was challenging. In fact, he honestly just wanted to go Bankai and get it over with quickly. Or maybe his mask would be enough; at least he’d be able to speed up the process then. “What a pain in the ass.”
Another bright red beam of condensed reishi arced through the air. Tracy’s shield flew up to cover his front, as he pressed through the Cero. It dissipated right before he reached the Menos who’d fired it and cut the damn thing’s head off. This really was such a nuisance. The visored took a split second to eye Jin as he glided through hollow after hollow. Aiden seemed to have run off. It was probably a smart decision. There were three captain level shinigami here slicing through an army of hollows. Thurstan couldn’t imagine anyone who’d want to be in the middle of that. His glance shot over to Sonja as a massive blast of yellow energy flew from her hands. Level 60 Kido. Yeah, she has to be captain level. It wasn’t much to go on, but at least he was starting to understand who she was.
“Fuck it.” Thurstan mumbled as he raised his sword hand to his face. White globs began to form in the palm of his hand, and in that instant, he swept his arm down, crossing his fingers before his face. What was previous had changed and the man’s face had donned a white mask that left his hair to hang over his forehead. In that same instant, a quick flash step brought him face to face with another menos, his shield slamming into its skull before Shiranaito drove her tip home through its eye socket. In another second, Trace had spun around with a great red ball of death floating in front of his mouth. He opened his jaws in a silent shout, his mask opening with them, and released the reiatsu in a Cero of his own. The great red blast shot forward, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake as it carved through dozens of hollows. He barely had a second to adjust his stance to block an incoming enemy Cero. This is so fucking annoying.
“Jin, are you authorized to use Bankai out here? Why don’t you just kill them all?” Probably because hollows don’t bleed. That was a realization he hadn’t exactly thought of….was he really going to go into Bankai just to deal with a few hollows? Was it worth it? I’ll just wait and see what everyone else is up to.

"good show everyone. I'm mighty impressed....Well...except for you Tracy...you still suck." Jin let out a hearty laughter, his movements still playing to the theme of not getting struck down by the many-o-hollow surrounding the area. There was something off about these hollows though, why were they still coming? Jin couldn't think of an honest to god answer instead turning his head to the other man, watching as he cut down the shallow remainder of the hollow horde. There would be more, there was always more.
No, what impressed him most of all was the woman that had joined them in their fight. Sonja is what she wanted to be called. Jin wasn't sure if this was her real name, taking it upon herself to nearly attack him when they first met. And yet, here she was cutting these beast down like it was still her duty. Whether or not they wanted to think so, the freelance vizards in the human realm were free of their duties. If they stuck to them, then they would surely be noted in Soul Society. But why wasn't she?
Jin pondered this for a moment, the feeling of more hollow pouring through; this was only briefly interrupted by the other man speaking. Jin sighed...and perhaps killing them all off at once would be enough to send them back into their shadowy realm. "No...Tracy you know that. Under normal circumstances, and in most cases we're not allowed to use our bankai. It's just too powerful...but...." He sighed, brushing the back of his head. "It may be our only chance. Hey Sonja..." He called out to the girl, waving for her to come over.
"I don't know how squeamish you are; but you may want to look away. When you feel a large spike in my reiatsu...I'm going to need you, assuming you can, to cast Bakudo 47. He started laying out the plan, and hopefully it all worked out fine. " You'll know where I need it. And when. But please....wait till I'm outside of the canopy of the tree." He was sure that this wasn't the best way to introduce just how messed up he was, but he needed to clear this out now. Shunpoing down to the ground, He let his reiatsu leak to draw the hollow toward him. And then, in one fell swoop, Jin impaled his body with his blade.
Crimson flying out of the other end, there was no laughter, there was no haughty nature about him. He was all business now. Ripping the morphing blade from his stomach, wings out Jin flapped them for a moment before turning his back. He looked at the tree, it was magnificent, but he needed to be in the center. Using his wings he flew upward and then drifted toward the center. He looked over at the girl, then tracy. Diving into the center, Jin impaled the large tree with his sword. Hollows were started to swam his entire being. Releasing one last surge of power into the tree, Jin pulled his blade from the trunk of the beast. "Now....make it now!"
He yelled out, his shunpoing taking him as far up as possible as the hollows tried to manage their way through the thickening bark. The tree had puffed up dramatically in size, and in a few moments the entire thing was going to up in flames. An explosion that doesn't stop until each piece of bark from the trees have been taken care of.

The sky slowly began to close as the final Hollows managed to squeeze their way through the breech. It was a fortunate sight, especially with the group’s patience wearing thin. Despite that fact that no more were appearing, the mass of Hollow was still substantial. A little too much to just mindlessly hack through, anyway. Soon-ja shunpo’d to the ground, hoping that the brief respite wouldn’t allow the Hollows to regroup and push forward. If they had a plan, it was best to listen. Jin’s words weren’t really very specific; she could barely infer what he was going to do let alone assist. While she didn’t love the sight of blood, guts, or anything of the sort, she felt no need to avert her gaze as her temporary ally leapt to the ground. She took a quick glance towards Trascis, hoping to get a few hints as to the coming show from him.
Soon-ja pushed her Hollow mask off her face, the disturbing visage remaining formed on her head to her upper right. There wasn’t really a whole lot of time to be surprised or confused; the action was so fluid, disturbingly practiced, that it was over by the time she realized what Jin was doing. The great tree that sprung from the ground was much easier to process. Without any knowledge of what the thing did, Soon-ja could only operate on the request the Shinigami captain had given her: use number forty-seven. What for would, hopefully, become more apparent. He either wanted it on him or the tree. She had to make a choice. Given the man’s actions it made the most sense to trap the Hollows by the tree. Why not?
”Bakudō No. 47: Kagami Hako!” Soon-ja had absolutely no idea how strong the blast would be, nor was she willing to risk absurd amounts of collateral damage by forming a weak shield. Still, when the situation called for a fast shield she had no time to concoct anything amazing. The barrier swiftly formed around the tree with a rather wide radius, ensuring that all the encroaching Hollow were forced inside. The shimmering energy pulsing as a few of the trapped creatures attempted escape. Soon-ja immediately launched into a second casting of the same Kido, this time with incantation to ensure its strength. ”The East, The West, The North and South. We call out Rondanini's flesh to severe ties to the outside and bring forces to crush down all who oppose! Bakudō No. 47: Kagami Hako!”

In that instant that Jin’s bankai detonated, the entire color spectrum was filled with a blinding flare of light. Trace squinted to keep the flash from burning a hole in his retina, but he still didn’t want to turn away from the spectacle. Sonja’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect. He bakudou was so cleanly placed, that none of the hollows had even a glimmer of hope. None could escape and they were all vaporized immediately. Thurstan’s heart almost sank when he saw them all perish. He sometimes wished that all hollows could become arrancar, that way their suffering could be lessened and they could reclaim some form of humanity, but this seemed like a fruitless endeavor. It was his duty to protect the innocent from the likes of these hollows, even if that meant he had to cut them all down one by one.
It was an embarrassing moment for him, when he realized he was trying to sympathize with hollows, with monsters. He unintentionally blushed beneath his mask before one of the few hollow that hadn’t been drawn into the trap crept up behind him. A quick pivot and parry knocked the beast’s scythe-like claws aside, before he thrust his blade into its face. It cried out, and, as its spirit body turned to mist, Thurstan again felt pity for the creature. This train of thought concerned him. He’d never been one to have mercy for hollows, let alone pity. He wondered where these feelings were coming from, why they were there.
“Maybe you’re getting soft, Tracy.” Kuronaito’s voice rubbed soothingly on his eardrums. It was like his inner hollow was whispering sweet nothings into his ear. “Hey, maybe you just have the hots for me. That could be your issue.”
“Hush, Kuro. I don’t feel like talking to you right now.” His own voice trailed off in his mind, but his lips held themselves together. “I’ll come by and we can have a chat later, alright?”
“Fine, fine. But just so you know, I’m letting you have this one. Just be happy I like you enough not to try and take over right now. Besides, If I was in control, who would I have to play with, hm?” Her laughter slowly dissipated, lingering for a moment at the base of his skull before vanishing into afterthought.
“You’re such a pain, Kuro.” Trace’s lips had finally spread and his voice carried these words into the wind. He released his shikai, the shield melting away into a stream of reishi that took on the appearance of heavy winds being sucked back into his sword. Shiranaito’s form shrunk back to the size of the Katana form. He swept the blade through the air and slid it back into the scabbard. A light click marked the tsuba’s resting place. His left hand then swung upward and a casual swish across his face helped his mask fade away. His eyes instantly reverted to their original ocean-blue color.
Thurstan looked down towards Jin, who had this marvelously cocky grin on his face, as usual. “Oi, you cocky sonuvabitch. Don’t think you have permission to be that excited just for blowing up a few hollows.”

He shook his head as he watched the explosion tear into all of the hollow, most of the beasts instantly dying while some others survived only for a moment before dying a moment later. Jin's eyes drifted for a moment, noting that this woman was very proficient in the art of kidou. Someone so skilled would surely be noted in the records. He was sure she had her reasons for acting the way she was. He didn't care one way or the other, she helped kill off hollow before they took over the city. reason enough for him to like her, besides some of the more obvious reasons.
That's when Jin let out a long, drawn out sigh of relief. He never had the chance to see his final technique before, his tree blowing up like that. Not because he hadn't done it before, but because he had spent the majority of his time trying his best to escape the blast radius of the entire tree. Normally it would have torn the entire ground asunder with explosions until all six hundred feet of roots were gone, but releasing his bankai the moment the trunk was finished was enough. His eyes drifted from the woman, to Tracy, who had taken care of a straggler, back to Sonja. He didn't break contact right away; even with the other man yelling at him in the background, there was something about her that simply...entranced him.
He shook this off though, his lips curling back into a very faint smile, his eyes drifting once more to the blond haired Vizard. "Well Tracy, you weren't making any progress on the situation. Besides..." His eyes once more drifted back toward the young woman. He landed on the ground about five feet from her before he started casually making his way toward her. He wasn't sure what to make of her; like an animal tossed into the wild when it's entire life it was in captivity...She was an unknown. Which wasn't entirely bad, not by any stretch of the imagination. It just made interacting that much more complicated. "You should be thanking Sonja here. Had it not been for her excellent Bakudo, we'd be havin fried vizard tonight."
He laughed, extending his hand toward her. "I don't think I ever properly introduced myself; I'm Jin Hoshigawa, captain of the tenth division. And on behalf of Soul Society, and on behalf of myself..." He pondered for just a moment, literally letting the words sink in for a second. "Thanks, we couldn't have done it without you." He grinned, like he normally did when he was excited. He was just glad that this little escapade was over. Then, in a moment of clarification, Jin snapped his fingers, turned on his heel 90 degrees so he could face the woman and Tracy evenly.
"Welp, I really ought-a get back to it." He mumbled, his hand reaching back, and rubbing the his scruffy hair. "Tracy, it was a pleasure. Always a good time killing off hollows." A ping of guilt could be heard through his voice, but he displayed no true sadness, simply turning his body slightly, to face the woman slightly more than his friend. "Hope to see you around some more, you should stick around Karakura. Wouldn't want to see ya disappear without actually getting to know ya." He turned completely, lifting one hand and waving it to say goodbye. "Adios and Tracy. Meet me in Russia, at that one bar, we can get a drink."

Thurstan had been standing casually, weight shifted to one side of his body, as Jin flirted with Sonja. The visored just watched calmly as the rather one sided interaction took place. Jin was cocky as he ever was, and it was pretty typical of him to act the way he did. He’d greet the lady in question, flirt a bit, show off with some spectacular act of chest-beaten glory, flirt some more, then leave. It usually worked, shockingly enough. No matter how old women got, it seemed to Trace that the same tricks just kept on working.
Fuck. He sighed inwardly. Still, despite his friends cocky attitude, he was still a fun guy who could certainly hold his liquor. Sonja on the other hand, well…wait...what the hell? She was gone. No more spiritual pressure, no more energy, nothing. He couldn’t see her, smell her, sense her; she was just gone. She was incredibly fast to have been able to just leave like that. Trace had only looked at Jin for a couple seconds and she was already far enough away that he couldn’t sense her. She really was just a lonely freelance… What a shame.
Still, Thurstan didn’t want Jin to abandon him so easily.
“Oi, Jin. Hold on.” Tracy jogged over to his friend, just as the man invited him out for a drink in...Russia? “A drink, eh. I could definitely go for one of those after being stuck in this place for a month.” He took a second to make eye contact with Jin, who he liked to call short, but actually wasn’t at all. Jin was six feet tall and looked Tracy straight in the eyes. “I'll think about it, shitstain. Gimme a couple weeks. To get there without my senkaimon.”
