Tossing and turning in his sleep, The Stray Dog slept the day away. He had just been in a fight for his life(kind of) days before against a particular Zanpakutō spirit. They had decided to play chess again, Zetsumei still wanted to see if Jin could hold up to the test of time. Then just a few days before that he had faced off against another Quincy, and while he didn't have any trouble, the man was definitely worth fighting. Needless to say the last few days had worn him out, and it showed. Jin had been asleep for the last twenty hours or so, becoming completely induced by the pleasures of sleeping. Regenerating his powers and being able to perform at his top potential. This was all going to end though. Jin had spent some time in the human world, and needed to take some time for him.
SFX: Thud
Groaning loudly, Jin rolled onto his back after smacking into the ground. He sighed as he came back to reality, his eyes staring into the sky as he laid there. What the hell just happened? He looked around, but didn't see anyone near him. He sniffed the air, looked from one side to the other once more. He could smell something in the air. It was like a bad perfume. Then, like a homing radar, Jin looked at the branch he had just been on and he stared ferociously at one singular object. SFX: Meeeoooooow After laying on the ground for about two more minutes Jin finally started to move. Rolling around and then standing, he brushed the dirt off of his back. He slithered out of the rolled up jacket and then he pointed his finger, coughing before speaking loudly.
"You damn filthy animal, I'm gonna kick your ass!"
Jin let out a loud battle cry as he shunpoed to the top of the branch bringing his foot across toward the animal to punt it. No no, this animal, nay this adversary, was not to be trifled with. In a single leap it landed on his shoulder, meowed again, and rubbed against his face. Jin howled angrily, shunpoing away as the cat fell off of his shoulders, landing elegantly on the ground. Narrowing his eyes, Jin only had one option left against this animal. He placed his hand on the hilt of his blade, drawing it from it's resting place slowly and then, when it was fully unsheathed, He lifted it to air, let out a loud battle cry, and ran after the animal.
"Raaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!" The cat perked up it's ears, but as he saw the crazed man running after him, he took off with gentle stride hops across the ground. Jin stopped, sheathed his blade, and stood their triumph over the little bastard that had disturbed his slumber on the comforts of the tree branch. He turned around, looking to see if any spirits had been around to see him. He lazily glanced over the area before returning to the foot of the tree, sitting against the trunk as he let his eyes slip closed once more. Maybe this time he could actually get some relaxing sleep.

The Karakura division was notoriously overworked compared to the rest of the spheres; the spiritual density of the area was just that many magnitudes greater than the surrounding areas. And it was obvious one faction wasn’t doing their jobs very well. Not that the Shinigami could be considered reliable in that respect; as far as Adele was concerned they were just a waste of Reishi. Regardless of anything else, she’d been asked to assist. What she was assisting with was rather unclear but, given that she didn’t have a whole lot on her plate at the time, she saw no reason to decline. So she’d shipped off to Karakura.
Adele wasn’t quite lost, but she wasn’t exactly sure where the sphere headquarters were. Her wanderings brought her to what she could only assume was a park of sorts: a decently sized body of water surrounded by gently sloping grass hills, winding dirt paths, rickety wooden benches, and groves of various sized trees. While her surroundings were pleasant, she had little time to enjoy them. She hadn’t gotten more than a dozen steps into the place before Adele heard a loud battle cry in the distance. She instinctively readied herself, though she was only greeted by the meow of a passing cat. She wasn’t overly fond of cats. Their random displays of affection were disgustingly cute, but their fickle attachment and seemingly wandering loyalty was what repelled her. They also couldn’t help but seem a tad arrogant. They were fucking animals, not gods.
She forged on, deciding to investigate the shout further. It wasn’t really out of the way, especially given that she didn’t really know where she was going. Just a little detour. That’s what Adele told herself, anyway. What she stumbled upon was less than pleasant; it was certainly more rage-inducing than a cat. She didn’t know the circumstances behind the Shinigami’s decision to rest, nor did she really give a fuck. The fact that he could lay, sleeping, by some tree in good health while the Consecro members preformed their duties tirelessly irked her to no end.
Adele stalked over to the base of the tree and gave the man a good long look. White hair, a myriad of golden piercings, and mess of bandages. He looked like a delinquent in spirit form. If she hadn’t noticed his Zanpakuto, she probably wouldn’t have even known his affiliation. She stood over the white haired Shinigami, her Sigil and frame eclipsing the sun as she glared down at the resting man. ”And what the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

So far the rest of his relaxation time had been going swell. The cat was gone, the grass was soft, and the park was quite. Everything had been going great, that was until a particular presence decided to rear it's head. It wasn't a shinigami, hollow, arrancar, or even a vizard. No, this particular person was of the flesh and blood variety. He decided to ignore it because for some reason he thought that if he laid there, they'd just assume he was dead and move on. Fat chance.
He inwardly sighed, making sure to stay as still, and make as little noise as possible despite this person standing right over him. You never knew, perhaps if he was just careful enough they'd shrug and be on their mar- "And what the fuck do you think you're doing? He could hear the extra emphasis on pointing him out. He let out an obviously peeved off sigh, lifting his right hand to cover his right eye. A singular crimson hued orb staring up at her, his lips moving as a flow of sarcasm etched their way into reality. "Well, you see. There's this state in which a person enters when they're tired. It's called sleep."
He added, waving his hands to form a rainbow in the sky. "It's like MAGIC." He groaned and stood to his feet, brushing the dried grass that had managed to make their way onto his jacket. He grunted, now feeling bad for the way he had spoken to the woman. He brushed the back of his head, keeping his sword in his left hand. He wasn't sure why she had waltzed over to him, and he wasn't sure why her tone held so much venom. He didn't care either, Jin wasn't an angry person, nor was he mean at any given time for no reason. "I'm sorry. The seireitei has been in such a slump. I'm here on work, but found some free time."
Now while that statement wasn't entirely true, it wasn't entirely false either. He was sure that this woman was able to deduce who he was, or at least what he was the same way he had with her. She was strong...really strong and while Jin wasn't a pushover himself, this woman was on a whole other level. "The name's Jin. Jin Hoshigawa." Opting out of his rank was something he did on a regular basis, only revealing it if directly asked. He didn't need her thinking he was a challenge, but he always ran the risk of appearing weak. He waited for her response, still not entirely sure what she was going to do.

Adele’s eye twitched as the Shinigami’s sarcastic words spilled from his mouth. Was this kid for real? Was he trying to piss her off? Her expectations of other’s actions were completely off-base; there were few people in the world saintly enough to actually respond courteously to her rude introduction, let alone those who would tolerate it without any form of verbal retaliation. Such logical thoughts, however, didn’t really cross her mind. The only things readily apparent to her were the Shinigami’s hand waving sarcastically in the air. At least the imagery was good, though the rainbow that appeared in her mind only served to infuriate her more.
To be completely fair, she was already pretty mad. Mad that, despite coming all the way to Karakura town, there wasn’t jack to entertain her. Mad that she couldn’t really find her way to the headquarters. And this Shinigami before her wasn’t helping at all. She handled her anger pretty well in her eyes. She didn’t bottle it up and let it stew for days; she just kind of let it flow. The man’s words on the current state of Shinigami affairs fell on deaf ears as Adele snorted with derision.
”It looks like it’s your unlucky day to be free. I’m pissed. At this moronic fucking ‘request’, at this godforsaken labyrinth of a town, and at your sinful laziness.”
It was high time for some desperately needed good o’ fashion, bona fide stress relief. She just hoped the delinquent Shinigami was tougher than he looked; she’d never been particularly good at gauging her opponent’s strength. His name, Jin Hoshigawa, didn’t ring any bells. Not that Adele kept up to date with anything to do with the swarming anthill called the Soul Society. Whether the name would be worth committing to long term memory would quickly become apparent. The Obelisk cracked her knuckles. Something was going to make this detour worthwhile. A grin spread across her face as she took a threatening step closer to the man, entering striking range.
”Adele. Nice to meet you.”
[/b] Her first swing came in the form of a long right hook towards Jin’s face. She held nothing back, but fully expected the blow to be dodged. After all, she’d given him plenty of warning, right? Jin shook his hand at the woman's words. She was certainly not one to be trifled with, the venom was enough to put down ten elephants. The scowl, anger, and irritation were all evidence that Jin just may have placed himself in a very hairy situation. However, despite realizing this, despite knowing that this woman was powerful, angry, and obviously mad at him in particular...that didn't really stop him from continuing. "Gotta be honest girly, I'm not actually that lazy. Just optimizing my time."
He said with his tongue sticking out of his lips. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him, but he was having some fun with it. With both eyes open, and his hair no longer being ruffled by his hand, he decided to place it inside his pocket. Watching as the woman took a step closer to him. What was her plan? Jin felt a surge of uneasiness, adrenaline pumping into him as it made his gut heat up. He hadn't felt this way in some time. It was thrilling, it was a high like no other. Adele...that's nice but wait a minute; was she...oh no. He thought to himself.
She was aiming her fist right at his mouth. Jin wasn't too keen on taking a punch to the mouth, and not from a woman at that. Luckily for him, her fist wasn't going too fast; in fact it seemed rather slow. He grinned wildly as his body vanished into nothingness, all that was left was the sound of a pop of wind. Jin appeared on the branch above her. He was sitting on the hard wood, his legs kicking back and forth with a smile spread across his features. "No, no, Ms. Adele. Is violence REALLY necessary?"
The words drifted from his lips as he fell backwards, hanging upside while still looking over her body. "You know...you're gonna have to work harder than that to hit me." Now was the time to drop the ball of his rank. If she were going to let him be, it would be at the sound that he wasn't weak by any stretch of the imagination. "You don't get to captain rank for being a slouch. Much less with MY abilities." He grinned before dropping back onto the ground. His zanpakuto was now on his waist, while both hands interlocked with one another grasping the back of his head. "So what say you..let bygones be bygones...girly?" Or maybe he wanted a fight. Maybe he wanted her to feel the same feeling he had. Adrenaline was a hell of a feeling.

Girly? Did that really just come out of the little shit’s mouth? Adele had to at least give him props for dodging, though she expected as much. If he’d been a real man he would’ve blocked that attack rather than fleeing off into some tree. Still, if the poor Shinigami’d eaten a blow to the face so early, there wouldn’t have been much of a fight. Adele flipped her sigil to her left, the massive weapon Scutum Pristis rotating as before she caught it by the higher grip.
Adele slammed the ancient weapon into the ground, shaking the earth, and making a convenient indentation which held her Sigil in place as she released her grip. Et Clavum Creo. A quintuplet of meter-long spike shot from the soil around her, angled away from her. With a fair bit of effort, Adele pulled two of the spears from the ground, on in each hand, and inspected their tips. They never came out quite as sharp as she wanted. She shrugged; she was never particularly good at controlling her Reiatsu. if they couldn’t stab, at least they would explode. Thing weren’t fun if they went exactly as planned. She removed a third spear, now holding two in her right hand.
“Captain, huh?” Adele twirled the strawberry red translucent spears in her hands, remaining at the center of her spikey formation. She knew enough about the Shinigami command structure to realize she’d stumbled upon someone relatively powerful. Still, there were generals or something him, right? It didn’t really matter. If the Shinigami was strong, all the better. She’d been counting down silently in her head ever since she’d removed the first spike from Et Clavum Creo. The timing had to be perfect. Her adversary was obviously faster than her and, while the margin was greater than she would’ve liked, it was manageable.
In a flash, Adele flung all thee spike towards her opponent in a wide triangle, the two initial ones to the sides and the final one above. In their current trajectory, they wouldn’t hit Jin. They weren’t even aimed at where he stood. They were aimed to trap him. The two on the sides should explode around when they reach a position parallel to the Shinigami. The one above probably wouldn’t trigger until it past the man’s location, but it was intended to cut off the top and rear at the same time. Adele charged forward, ripping the final pair of spikes from the ground as she left the circle and Scutum Pristis behind. She had absolutely no qualms about abandoning her sacred weapon briefly; in the hands of anyone but herself, it’d likely become more of a hindrance than a help. Assuming they could actually wield the monolithic shield of any effect, anyway.
“At least you know how to have fun. Looks like this might be exciting after all. Don’t let me down and just run around, okay?”

"Yeah...A captain." Sadly it seemed as if his ploy to deter the other person from confronting him wasn't going to work. She seemed determined angered by his remark, and for some reason he liked it. Jin liked fighting, he liked being put to the test, pushed to his limits, and this woman would certainly allow him to do just that. And thus began the battle in the park. Jin placed his fingers along the shaft of the hilt. He felt like the way she had moved her shield that he should expect some trouble. And what do you know, she had proved him right.
Slamming her shield into the ground, Jin watched as five identical spikes formed out of the ground; these spikes however weren't made of earth. No, instead they were made of a jelly like material. Red in hue, Jin smirked and was curious to see just what these things could do. Yet, waiting was exactly what he was doing; she had taken three out of the ground, and yet none of them had done anything, and she wasn't moving, nor was she attacking him. Jin squinted his eyes, as thoughts began to rapidly fire through his brain. It wasn't everyday that he had to figure out someones power, to deduce what they could do, or how to defeat them.
"Is it show and tell? Oooh, ooh, me next!" Jin grinned, pulling his blade from the sheath slowly, and mysteriously. "Death be with you. Zetsumei!" Sure, releasing his shikai so early may have seemed to be a dumb move, but doing nothing while this woman decided to lollygag would have been worse. "I hope you can handle the sight of blood well enough...Girly-san." Obviously poking fun at the fact that she seemed to despise being called that, Jin brought his release blade to his forearm, the edge lightly touching his skin. And then, with a wild grin spread across his face, he started to slowly pull the blade over his skin.
it wasn't painful, he had been through much worse, but what was most interesting was what happened after the blood fell into the grass earth. From within the puddle came a dog, red in color just like her jelly-esque spikes, Jin smiled. "His name is spike...He's really not that mean...and he only bites a lot." Still, not one to be rude, Jin would at least wait for the woman to act. And like Christmas morning, his wish had come true. She was attacking him with these...things. She shot all three toward him, but for some reason not a single one aimed toward him. What was her play?
Well he didn't have much time to waste, pointing his finger forward, the bloody dog had made it's way toward the foremost spike. As the two of them collided, Jin noticed something rather flashy happened. It exploded. Interesting, was that what the woman was waiting for? Were the spikes on a time limit, or were they like a proxy mine? Jin didn't have much time to think as the second spike had already made it's way to his side; the same time the first one had. Luckily however his dog had taken the brunt of the explosion. This however only allowed him to barely escape with minor burns across his body, Jin used his superior speed to shunpo to the left, away from the spike that flew over his head.
This one, however had a delayed explosion from where he had stood. It was thrown after the initial two, but it had still exploded while he wasn't around. Timed explosions. Dammit. He hated timed events. Now however Jin had to figure out why these two hadn't exploded, the two she had grabbed. He grunted, firmly grasping his blade in his hand as he waited for the woman to approach. While he did so he started to recite a couple words. " Devils wrath, incarnate amongst the souls of the damned" Five meters, "I drink of your rage to deliver it's potency to the dark" three meters, "Gods of old." two meters; he had waited, and for a reason. Shunpoing quickly, Jin had left something behind, an after image. This after image could react to being hit; it was called utsusemi.
Appearing behind the woman he spoke three more words before raising his left hand to his lips. "Bakudou number 33, Nomu" And as the last words left his lips he lowered his hand and blew out a cloud of smoke, attempting to paralyze his enemy right in her tracks. An instant after this, Jin would bring his blade down toward her back (assuming she was still there) attempting to cut her back; if both of these should succeed the follow up would be to kick her out of the way of the two spikes promptly following with Jin shunpoing away from the area.

Adele charged forward towards the captain as the man chanted fancy words. She didn’t really give a shit what he was saying; just standing there was going to get him killed. She felt the spike enter his body, the tactile resistance unmistakable. He should’ve been gravely injured, if not dead on the spot. But there he was, right behind her. Such an ability – was it common among the Shinigami?
Maybe removing the shield from her back had been a mistake. It only took the woman only a second to break free of the feeble Kido, but that was all the Shinigami needed to bring his dark blade across her back. Adele didn’t flinch as the blade sliced into her skin, instead flaring her considerable Reiatsu in an attempt to harden her defense. It worked, at least to some degree, though she could tell the strike itself wasn’t particularly powerful to begin with. Her grin only widened more as the pain shot across her back. There was no time to dwell on it, or to even think about it. The captain wasn’t about to just leave her alone. Adele managed to twist around enough to bat away attempted kick, retreating backwards as the Shinigami shunpoed away.
“Nice trick there.” The Obelisk grinned, her anger since forgotten. The cut was shallow but incredibly long; Adele could feel the blood trickle from the wound and soak into her clothes. Perhaps the man had purposefully weakened his strike, but had she received such a careless wound from a more powerful source it would’ve been a significant blow. As it stood, the wound was merely exhilarating. Adele’s own blood that was spattered across the ground slowly began to stir. Fascinating. That was basically the only way she could describe the bloody creature forming before her. She’d seen the technique early when the masochistic Shinigami had cut himself, but it quickly became apparent that the hounds could be formed from her own blood as well.
“Can your dog play fetch?”
Adele was having fun. She’d almost lost count of the time, though the burning heat in the right hand quickly reminded her of the explosives she was waving around. She tossed both her translucent spikes towards the blood hound horizontally with a pair of light underhand throws. The two were decently far apart, more for covering ground than anything else.
The explosion rocked the area between the two combatants, the ball of fire and smoke obscuring their vision of each other. Adele took this opportunity to return to her weapon, the shield still standing solemnly where she’d left it. Sure she could fist fight, but she doubted her opponent would be willing to just drop his sword. She hefted her Sigil. It was obvious given their last exchange that she wasn’t going to catch the slippery captain. So she was going to wait for him to come to her. Why not? But he better come soon, Adele wasn’t particularly patient.

It was like a play had been going on the entire time. Everything seemed pre-planned, scripted, strung along by something else more than any of their understanding. It was beautiful. She had moved gracefully, even while being struck along the back. He grinned considerably wider than normal, his canines becoming completely visible as the two had a near stand off. He also appreciated the compliment to his trickery; tipping his imaginary hat, he waited for the woman's response to the new friend that had appeared from her spilled blood.
He chuckled at her obvious pun; He was a fan of obvious jokes or jabs, he had done it plenty of times himself. "Nah, he's not a big fan. Especially when they explode in his face." She may have won him over with her pun, her strength, or her ability to keep up with him but that didn't excuse her from wanting to send his poor dog to oblivion. He figured, if his theory on the spikes being timed held true, that they too wouldn't go off just yet. This caused a smirk to spread across his features; his mind had been keeping record of every little detail this woman had done. The spikes were formed, but they didn't all explode at the same time. There was a lapse in their detonation; it wasn't cause by proximity but they didn't seem to start a count down until they were pulled from the ground.
Still, Jin cringed as the two remaining jelly spikes were thrown at his poor dog having called it back, and swinging his sword toward the ground. A red glyph appearing under his feat. Just what had been happening wouldn't be seen as two red tendrils pierced his foot and drained him off two ounces of blood. This caused two red beams to quickly exit the red glyph as they flew toward the red jelly like constructs. As the dog stood beside Jin, the two of them watched the impending explosion, only after a moment turning their attention back to the woman. He looked down at the red hound, only for his left hand to hover over the beast while he spoke to his opponent. "You know...he does have one trick though..it's pretty interesting."
He pulsated his reiatsu for a moment, the hound now changing and contorting it's form to create a second sword. This second blade looked like an all red exact duplicate of his zanpakuto. Grasping the hilt, He applied a continuous stream of energy into the sword and then he was off. He decided that if this woman wouldn't take the fight to him, he would have to it to her. However, he was going to need to keep his attention on this woman's shield. He wasn't sure what it was capable of, or how much power it had stored inside of it.
Jin started to close the distance, keeping his shunpo out of the mix for now. The distance was closing, raising his red blade as if he were ready to swing it while he kept his actual zanpakuto to his side, away from the woman. There couldn't have been more than five feet between them before Jin leaped into the air, twirling his body; He used this momentum to hurl his red sword at the woman like a projectile. Then as the sword's hilt left his finger tips, he utilized his shunpo once more, appearing to her right. Now both hands upon the hilt of his sword, he swung downward attempting to cut her arm. He wasn't sure what this woman had planned, nor was he aware what she was able to do with that shield, but he had to figure it out.

Was his extra blade a diversion? Perhaps the secondary attack was intended to throw her off or distract her from the real threat; or perhaps it was just another attack to increase the odds of success. Either way, it didn’t matter to Adele. She might’ve been slower than the captain, but she could still track his movements as she shunpoed to her right. She wasn’t planning on letting either attack hit her. While the width of her shield wasn’t enough to successfully block both attacks, the height was. She rotated Scutum Pristis 90 degrees, holding the shield horizontally on her left arm as she lowered her stance and spun towards her opponent’s new position.
Before she became a member of the Consecro, Adele had never really thought of a shield as a weapon. It wasn’t bladed like a sword, it wasn’t easy to swing like a hammer, and it had no range like a bow. There was one thing, however, that it did have: absurd defensive capabilities that easily led into offensive attacks. It was something most people seemed to truly underestimate. Her opponents were always looking for special properties – shooting blades, spewing fire, or morphing into some massive great sword – rather than worrying about getting their ribs shattered by a massive hunk of metal. Her weapon wasn’t sophisticated. All she had to do was meet the attacking force with an opposing force of greater magnitude. And in a contest of brute force, Adele was pretty damn sure she wouldn’t lose.
She felt a sight tug on her arm as the thrown sword impacted the left side of her Sigil, a feeling that was similarly replicated on the right when the captain’s real blade was brought crashing down. Both attacks were caught on the upper curve of the shield and, while the blood-crafted projective glanced off and flew off behind her, the other attack slowly began to skate down the front of Scutum Pristis. The scraping of the two weapons let of a screech as a cluster of sparks flew from the connection. There was no time to waste. Wait too long and the blade would reach the critical half-way point and any attack would force it beneath her defenses; it was a risk she had to take in the given circumstances.
Her boots gripped the slippery turf, ripping indentations into the earth, as Adele threw herself at Jin, attempting to plough her shield directly through his swing. There no subtlety in the attack. Just pure force. The blow was angled slightly upwards due to her lowered stance.

Jin laughed for a moment; not at the woman, but at just how ridiculous this fight had been so far. This woman was holding back, he knew it; he didn't know why, but he could tell. He didn't know what she was holding back, but he just felt it. Like a stirring feeling inside of his stomach, something trying to claw it's way out. Then the woman started her counter, and everything snapped back to reality. This woman had something so, unique, for a weapon and Jin was so enthralled with what it COULD do he completely looked over what it was meant to do.
Block attacks. The woman managed to turn it, and in fell swoop the red blade had been blocked and turned back to liquid while his own blade met with her shield. The sparks were flashy, cool, and distracting. Jin could still see the woman's face, but he was losing his focus. He couldn't help it, there was just something lacking; was it his need to find out what her true abilities were? Was it the lack of damage either of them had taken? He wasn't sure, but as Jin fell toward the ground, time seemed to slow. He arched a brow at the woman as she dug her feet into the ground. What was she getting ready to do?
"Aw, shit..." And there it was. Something truly terrifying about this woman. She moved with such intensity, her legs trucking through the grass, pushing Jin back without any sort of trouble. She was strong, she was powerful and very strong. Jin wasn't going to stop her with his own strength. Thinking quickly on his feet Jin used his blade against her shield to lift him into the air. Having been lifted into the air with her shield, and his blade, Jin placed both of his feet on top of the shield and used her speed and momentum to kick off, launching him into the air. Shunpoing down, and appearing about twenty-five feet away from the woman Jin let his head droop down.
"You're...you're just too much for me girly-san. I don't deserve to be a captain, let alone sit here and bask in your glory. I just..." Hold it together, hold it together! Finish it off well and she might actually be surprised! Dramatically waving his arm over his face, he exclaimed loudly, and emotionally while lifting his sword into the air, his blade pointing toward him. "I just can't live this life anymore!" And before anyone could react, he plunged the black steel into his stomach. the elongated steel sticking cleanly out of the other side. His body didn't move, his left arm dropping to his side almost as if it had been stripped of all life. Had it not been part of a very strict, timed ritual Jin would have played the game just a bit longer. But as it was strict, and timed you could hear a very faint mumble escape his lips.
"Ban...kai..." And in a moment, all of the blood that had splattered all over the ground started to ruble, shift and turn. His reiatsu flared to a level far greater than before. And then his head lifted from it's slump and his normal grin spread across his face. A series of wild cackles escaped his lips before two red wings sprouted from his back, and the blade was slowly pulled from his gut. The blade, as it was ripped away, started to change. No longer simply black, it was now thicker, with large tooth like ridges going down the entire blade. Finally, to cap the entire ritual off, the blood that had been boiling, shifting and turning finally erupted into a giant blackened tree. Red leaves sprouting from branches with many fruit scattered throughout the entirety of thee large tree. Except for a singular fruit. This special fruit was different. It was Jin's fruit. And with a beat like a heart, someone in the foliage of leaves, it sat.
"So...I haven't used this thing in quite some time...How do ya like it?" He asked, bringing his sword hand toward his mouth, blood trickling down his hand from the spikes in the hilt. There was blood everywhere, but whether or not the woman knew how it all worked, Jin would soon find out. And deciding to take a page from her book, Jin waited for her to come to him. Wanting to see what this woman would do.

Adele couldn’t help but watch the macabre scene as she opponent impaled himself on his weapon. What in the actual fuck. The man’s blood spattered the ground as sword passed entirely though his midsection, the now crimson blade bursting from his back.
“The fuck…?”
She watched with disturbing fascination as the tree burst forth from the grassy turf, sprouting various random foliage along its branches. The captain’s new serrated blade was equally terrifying, though for a different reason. A good blow with that would cause some seriously nasty wounds.
“That’s a pretty fucked up way to activate your Bankai.” Sure, Adele didn’t know, or care, much about Shinigami, but she knew their general techniques. She was pretty sure Bankai was somewhat close to the pinnacle of their strength, an ability they used when they needed a burst of pure power. It was exciting. She couldn’t stop herself from giddily grinning like a fat kid at a buffet. “I like it.”
[/b] The Shinigami wasn’t moving; it was an open invitation to attack. Charging into an unknown situation with an unknown enemy with and unknown power. That kind of shit was right up her alley. Unfortunately she’d’ already resigned herself to the fact that she’d never catch the slippery bastard; she wasn’t willing to chase him fruitlessly while he slowly chipped at her defenses and fatigue. The face of Scutum Pristis rent open, revealing its terrifying maw of glowing red energy. Adele had absolutely no idea what the blackened tree did, though she was curious. It wasn’t really the correct circumstances for her to be experimenting with her enemy’s unknown technique. She’d find out eventually. For the time being, however, she chose to stay away from what she perceived to be the main component of the technique: the tree itself. And she only had one attack that had any sort of reasonable range. With a heave, Adele tossed her Sigil into the air, the great shield rotating slightly at it flew upwards. It was a rather impressive feat of strength, though it was aided by her own divine ownership of the weapon. The throw wasn’t just for show, either. From a level position Aperta Et Vomite’s wide cone would be wasted; it’s current position, however, would cause the translucent spikes to rain down up her foe. At the peak, Sigil began to spew dozens of 10cm long projectiles sped towards her opponent, the spread relatively wide. Once again Adele found herself without her primary weapon. Oh well. What was the worst that could happen? Jin watched with his own sense of amusement as the woman reacted to his ritual, the tree, and his bankai as an entirety. Yes while it wasn't like most bankai, it had the same thing in common that the other ones had; you do not want to underestimate it. And sadly, this woman had taken that particular note to heart. She wasn't moving, Jin wondered why. Perhaps she had made a connection from his shikai to his bankai. But would that be enough to stay away? Maybe she was wary of his new blade, which was all but optimized at stealing blood.
Well, if for nothing else she liked his bankai. He nodded with a wide grin. "Yeah, she's a beauty...but the tree here? it's not even the biggest part...." And he wasn't lying, the rest of the tree, the largest part, was underground. The roots were the most impressive part of this living weapon; their reach spread well over 600 feet, making it almost impossible to escape his bankai's affects unless she was completely and utterly willing to stop the fight entirely. That also didn't account for the miasma that she was currently interacting with. This miasma, at the very least, reaches outward of 80 or so feet from the base of the tree.
Jin watched curiously however as the woman's shield opened up. There it was again, the red energy. So he was going to have to deal with this energy in someway, but how? Would she use those spikes again? Or perhaps she would do something else, but would an explosion still exist? He wasn't entirely sure. Then the woman did something interesting, and confusing all in one; she launched the shield into the sky. Discarding the shield again? Why? His eyes stayed on the woman, waiting for her to do something, grab something, launch something his way. It wasn't until the shield had started to launch the little needles down upon him.
"What the hell?!" Jin could feel the needles hitting his skin, and this caused alarm, quickly shunpoing away and looking toward the sky. His attention was even more quickly ripped to his arm, where a needle was sticking out of it. It was getting hot. Why was it gett-Oh fuck me sideways Jin quickly ripped the thing from his arm, but only in time to not completely and utterly blow his arm off. The explosion that followed knocking him back, rolling against the ground. Jin rolled against the ground, his eyes squinting and staring at the woman. So this was her shields technique? Exploding...jelly?
Interesting...very interesting. Jin sighed, standing up and brushing his legs off. Then after standing completely upright his black jacket seemed to fall to shreds. and off of his body. Now with a twitching eyebrow, he looked over at the woman. "That was my third favorite jacket! That's it, no more mr. nice guy!" With a howl, and a prompt removal of his torn jacket, Jin gripped his blade with renewed resolve. And in nothing but a skin tight black vest, Jin shunpoed heading right for the woman, his feet shuffling from right to left, and then back again. His body ducked down low, he waited until he was ten feet from the woman before shunpoing to her side. His black blade coming across attempting to land the first hook into her arm, and cut her open.
However, Jin wasn't going to leave her with just that. Using his speed once more, he shunpoed behind her, swinging his blade downward, launching a small puddle of blood toward the woman. Should this small puddle of blood land on her, anywhere, it will start the growing process. Turning the blood into vines, then from vines into thorns, only for them to eventually seek out the ground to connect with the enormous network of roots.

The wound on Adele’s back pulsed with a new wave of blood, bringing with it a fresh feeling of pain. It was odd; the light wound shouldn’t be bleeding so profusely. Perhaps her earlier actions had brought this upon herself. In any case, she shrugged off the dull pain as she watched the her jelly rain down on her foe. A twinge of satisfaction crossed Adele’s mind as a one of the long spikes managed to find its way into her adversaries arm. While it wasn’t her real intention, the hit was definitely better than missing entirely.
While she might not have been the greatest strategist in the world, Adele was more than capable of making decent plans. During the heat of battle, there’s no way one would leave and opening and not expect their opponent to exploit it. Adele was certainly had enough experienced to realize this. Her abandonment of her shield had been more a little more than just achieving a better firing arc; she wanted her opponent to come take a swing at her. And her wish was granted.
Adele stepped into Jin’s first attack, her insane grin widening even further as she reached for the only other weapon on her body. Her opponent’s swing was fast; the middle of the toothed blade sliced into Adele’s right side as she advanced forward. She barely managed to unsheathe and rotate her kukri with her right hand, the curved blade stopping the attack from penetrating any further than it already had. She brought her left hand across her body and, using the palm of her hand, pressed her foe’s blade towards herself, grasping the blunt edge of the weapon in an iron grip. She took another half-step forward, setting her knife into the valley of the serrations, locking the weapon in place between her own blade and her hand. You can’t get ahead without making a few sacrifices.
“Well now, my little masochist. Nice of you to join me. You better enjoy this.” Scutum Pristis slammed into the earth beside the interlocked pair, landing almost perfectly upright. Almost perfectly. The great shield teetered for just moment, almost looking as if it was going to keep balance, before toppling forward with an echoing slam. Et Resonant Reformabit. The ground beneath their feet pulsated as the technique liquefied the earth into a shallow pool of viscous gelatin. It was a technique Adele rarely used. The potential for self-damage, despite the built in safeties, and ridiculous collateral damage made it more like a last resort. Still, against an opponent like this, why the fuck not?

Impressed didn't quite describe what Jin was feeling this day. His heart was racing, and this woman was proving to be one helluva fighter. She was strong, she was skilled, and she could make shit explode just by secreting a little bit of her red jelly from that shield of hers. She was something that Jin didn't have a lot of experience with; were her skills and ability a product of her own person, or was it strictly that shield? He wanted to know, he wanted to test it out, but he also didn't want to die. He wanted to live, to be more than he was, to be with someone; but the universe was one mean bitch sometimes.
This woman had done something that Jin wouldn't have expected, not in a million years. She stepped into his attack, taking the slash like a champ, but lodging the blade into her own side. Jin grinned, shook his head and whispered under his breath. "Clever Girly-san." Jin nodded along with her words, his hand still firmly grasped onto his sword. "Glad to be here Girly-san. I have been s-" He looked down before he could finish his last statement; what was her shield doing now? Was it...it was turning the ground into red goo.
He looked back at the woman, his eyes squinting at her. The obvious irritation in his voice. "Really? You go and make a small pond of your gooey stuff...And it's all over me!" He groaned, picking up his leg. Then he noticed something strange. Both of her arms were occupied, both to keep Jin from ripping his blade free. But the beauty was, he didn't need his sword. Releasing his sword from his grasp, he started chanting another incantation, while his other hand simply pointed at the woman.
"Shitotsu Sansen (Beak-Thrust Tri-Flash)" The first kidou was off, it was aimed to simply propel the woman off of him. As the kidou left his hand, he once more grasped the hilt of his sword, and should this work it would completely pull the blade from her side. At least enough to allow him to shunpo away. But he was still trapped in this damn goo. He couldn't shunpo away by himself, but perhaps if he used his next kidou to add some momentum. "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws. Sōkatsui (Blue Firefall)"
He quickly shifted his left hand from her, and started pointing it down toward the ground. Doing this and shunpoing at the right moment, Jin shot off the blast, creating a small explosion, this created a gust of wind, loosening the goo. Standing on the ground where it was still solid, he took in a deep breath before sighing. This woman was strong, and Jin was confident in his ability, but there was something about it that wouldn't feel right. He wouldn't kill her, and should this fight go on for much longer...that might just happen.
Shunpoing into the trees foliage, he focused. He could feel his fruit, his blood pulsating within the trees limbs. He was going to find his fruit, and he was going to find it now. After a few moments, searching, shunpoing from branch to branch, Jin eventually found it. Grasping the almost beating heart, he once more shunpoed, existing the tree. He stood in front of the woman. He was sure she was out of the trap, should she had even been caught. Clearing his throat, he smiled. "So I'm sure you can tell, but one of us may die should this fight go on. I need to keep the gotei safe, and you need to do...what ever it is a gir-Whatever it is you do, Adele-san."
The grin reappeared as Jin tossed her the fruit. It was still beating, his face eerily plastered along the fruit's front. "If you eat that, you'll feel better. I'm also sorry about...the hole in your side!" He pointed at it, his grin running wild. He wasn't sure what the woman was going to do, but he was placing a lot of faith in her.
