So far it had been a normal day for Kizomaru, she did the usual paper work that came with her position as well as work of a captain since her squad currently was without, trained some of the newer members, and then more paperwork. A busy day, so much so she almost missed her lunch, but fortunately for her Shuuhei had found time to visit her, with a bento box for each of them, and made sure she ate.
Soon though, the two were greeted by their two children Shuichi and Kazue, who had come to remind them that it was time for their own training. After Kizo and Shuuhei both finished their meals, they decided on using the Squad Two training grounds and paired up, with Kizo training Shuichi in the use of his mask and Kazue training with her father to help better master her shikai weapon.
With that decided the two headed off, the pairs of course had to take turns, they decided that since it was Kizo's squad she and Shuichi would go first. So the two got into position and prepared, of course Shuichi wouldn't be going straight in donning his hollow mask, he needed to warm up first, so a basic spar was the start.
Beginning with a basic rush attack from Kizo, she shunpoed forward at Shuichi and took a double swing at him, not using her full strength but not trying to hold back too much either, if the blows hit they wouldn't cause all too much damage to her son; she always made sure of that.

Somebody get me through this nightmare Shuichi had already drawn his zanpakuto before Kizo charged forward at him, he decided that, rather than simply shunpo out of the way, he raised his zanpakuto in a diagonal angle to block both the blades she was attacking him with. Though he knew he couldn't hold her back like that for long, so he quickly pushed off her blades and shunpoed out of site, thinking on the best place to try and land a hit. He knew she had an advantage given that she had two swords to block him with, not to mention the over all difference in strength between the two, but he didn't let himself dwell on that right now.
He appeared at her right side and lashed out at her, ableto catch her from her hip to her shoulder, then when that hit landed he moved to her front and tried catching her on her chest. Usually he would get lucky during their sparring matches and be able to land a few hits, wondering now if his luck would come through for him today. Though he knew winning wasn't important and the whole focus of these sparring matches was to help him control his hollow, it still would be nice to be able to win a match every now and again. Sadly though Kizomaru had blocked his second attack, though, he had planned for that to happen..
He was planning on trying to use a kido against her, he just was unsure of which one. He didn't have the option of higher level kido like his parents did, but perhaps if he used them right the ones he could use would give him an advantage. Their blades were locked, Kizo's two to his one, but this had given him an idea. Focusing his reiryoku in preparation, he allowed their blades to keep their contact. After a moment of silence, Shuichi spoke.
"Hado#11, Tsuzuri Raiden!" With the command an electric current had been sent through his zanpakuto's blade to hers, and when she broke the contact and winced a little, he couldn't help but grin proudly. He knew he didn't hurt her much though, but he was proud of himself for coming up with such an idea. I can't control myself HAN: 6 REI:5 HAK:6 SEI:6 BUK:5 HOH:6

Kazue sat on the steps on the barracks as she watched her brother and mother spar, drinking a bottle of water and keeping her eyes on their movements. She sat next to her father, who also seemed to be watching intently as well, they were fortunate that they sat underneath the shade, it was easier to see.
Today was one of the days Kazue was actually feeling alright, she hadn't had a panic attack all day, no flash backs when she saw her brother, so it was a good day. Her therapy sessions had been helping, she was fortunate she had help dealing with her issue. Though there were days when she'd hear about what other people have gone through and questioned if feeling the way she did about what happened was right, questioning if she was over reacting to it, she never told anyone this though, because she was afraid of the answer.
She knew she had to tell someone eventually though, it was starting to add stress to her situation, though she was unsure how to bring it up. She looked over at her father, hesitant to speak for a moment, almost deciding against it, then she forced herself to speak "Hey...Papa? Could I talk to you about something?" It just won't fade away

• Are you afraid? • S huuhei rubbed his hands over his face tiredly. Some days it felt like the paperwork for the squad just went on forever. And that didn’t even include trying to keep Seireitei Communication on schedule or keeping track of who was on what mission. If he hadn’t respected captains before – and he most certainly had – then he undoubtedly did now. “Yare, yare. Does it never end?” he murmured, looking over the pile still left to do. He didn’t mind it too terribly most days. His squad was captain-less for the time being and someone needed to pick up the slack. It just got a little frustrating when it felt like work bled over into family time. Thinking of family time, he glanced at the clock. It was almost time for lunch and he had a sneaking suspicion that his lovely Firefly wasn’t going to stop working anytime soon to eat. She could be worse than him when it came to her duties and that was saying something. But that was why he had made and brought two bento with him today.
He stood and stretched, relishing the slight burn in his stiff muscles. With another glance at the squad paperwork, he shook his head and just walked away from it. It could wait until after lunch. So, grabbing the bento, he left Squad Nine’s headquarters and made his way to Squad Two where he knew that Kizo would be busily working away. Nodding to the occasional shinigami he walked past, he finally stopped outside Kizo’s office and knocked on the door. After receiving permission to enter, he opened the door with a small grin. He held up the bento. “I figured you’d still be working, so I brought lunch.” He sat down next to her and handed her one of the bento before opening his own. They ate in comfortable silence for a while, but it wasn’t long before their twins showed up for training. So he and Kizo quickly finished their lunch and the four of them headed to Squad Two’s training grounds. They discussed how training would go as they walked, deciding to pair off – Kizo training Shuichi and Shuuhei training Kazue.
“You and Shuichi can go first. It’s your squad barracks, after all,” he suggested. That seemed to be fine with everyone, so he sat down on the barracks' steps with his daughter beside him. He watched his wife and son square off, but his eyes occasionally flicked over to Kazue. It hadn’t been very long since the incident in the Dangai and she seemed to be doing better with the counseling he had set up for her. But some days were worse than others. It worried him to see his little girl like this – scared of her own twin. He clasped his hands and pressed them to his lips, thinking. He knew he had done pretty much everything he really could do for her – assured her that Dad was there for her, taken her to people who could help her talk through what was troubling her, and let her know in no uncertain terms that he would always love her and her brother. But sometimes…sometimes that didn’t feel like it was enough and that was frustrating. He let out an inaudible sigh as his mind continued to spin uselessly on the problem. He just wished she would talk to them…
“Hey...Papa? Could I talk to you about something?”
He turned to Kazue, surprised. Had she just read his damn mind or something? She had always seemed so reluctant to talk and he hadn’t pushed her to, though he knew Kizo sometimes wanted to push it. But talking wasn’t easy. He knew that and Kizo knew that. He wasn’t going to shut his girl down when she was finally opening up. So he smiled warmly at her, letting just how much he loved her shine through. “Of course you can, Kazue. I told you Papa would be there when you needed him to be, right?” CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

Shuichi had been getting better, even though it hadn't been very long since he returned from the Dangai. 'Natural talent..' She mused, and of course he had gotten some training from their babysitter. At the same time his control over his hollow was slowly but surely improving as well, but, his training was far from over just yet. They still had a long way to go.
When she felt his blade catch her it was no surprise, it wasn't a deep cut though nor was it all too painful, but it was a good hit for him. However, when he attempted to catch her chest she blocked his blade with quickness and ease. She found it odd that he didn't pull away and wondered what he was planning, but she didn't have to wait long.
"Hado#11, Tsuzuri Raiden!"
Ah, a smart move, she hadn't been expecting something like that from him. The shock from the kido was enough to make her wince and back away but not drop her weapon, she broke the contact and jumped back about five feet and smiling at him."Smart move Shuichi! Good job." Kizomaru praised, seeing his grin only widen, but her smile was replaced with her impassive battle expression and she shunpo'd out of site.
"However, it's important you don't let things like that go to your head." When she spoke again she was behind him, and before he could even turn around she delivered a quick strike to his back which caused him to stumble forward, but before he could finish falling she sped around to his front and caught him. Helping him back onto his feet before returning five feet away from him, standing directly in front of him in a defensive position.
"Alright now it's your turn to come at me."

Somebody get me through this nightmare When he heard his mother's praises he couldn't help but beam proudly, he was starting to gain a confidence in himself during battle which was good, but he had to be careful not to get a big head. That would surely be his down fall. When he riled himself from his thoughts he had only blinked for a moment, she had disappeared. Dammit, he spent too much time patting himself on the back. So when he heard Kizo speak, and realized she was behind him, he didn't have nearly enough time to react and he took the blow.
Stumbling forward, he almost fell, but his mother had caught him. 'Well, least I didn't fall flat on my face..' Shuichi thought, relieved he didn't embarrass himself during the fight. He nodded to his mother, showing he had heard her."Right.." Shuichi replied, fixing himself into a more battle ready position, his sword held out horizontally in front of him. When he heard her say it was his turn to charge next he thought about his options, there was only so much he could do. Then, he got an idea.
Shuichi first used shunpo to vanish from sight, even using this opportunity to try suppressing his reiatsu, and he thought about where to strike from first. Finally, he decided that he would attack from the front. When he showed himself again he was ten feet in the air above Kizo and hurling down quickly, his sword aimed at her shoulder. Not that he was planing to remove the limb, nor did he have the strength to, but hopefully he could at least deliver a strong blow.
However he saw his mother vanish and blinked, only to see her reappear right in front of him and intercept his sword before he had the chance to swing it. Still in shock, he didn't even realize she had sent a kick his way, and it made contact with his backside, sending him hurling into the ground below. With a groan he got up and rubbed said area, she obviously hadn't kicked him with enough force to damage him too much, but damn was it painful. When he finally got the chance to look around she was gone...Where did she go? I can't control myself HAN: 6 REI:5 HAK:6 SEI:6 BUK:5 HOH:6

Kazue had been glancing between her father and the sparring match between the rest of her family as she waited for him to hear her, she knew he must have been thinking about something, she was starting to recognize that expression as one he used when he was deep in thought. Finally, when she saw him smile at her and heard him reply she looked over to him and smiled back, she couldn't help but feel a little less hesitant seeing that.
She had to pick her words carefully, so she could get what she wanted to say across without sounding too confusing, and just before she finally opened her mouth she blinked at the loud noise of her brother colliding with the ground below him. She couldn't help but laugh a little bit and shake her head after seeing him make contact with the dirt. It was a funny site seeing him rubbing his injured rump. When the moment had passed she turned back to her father, the smile faded and she began to speak.
"Well...Being around Squad Four so much for my counseling, I've gotten to hear some of the other Shinigami talk about the things they went through...It just..." How to phrase what she was going to say next? Shifting a little bit in her seat, she sighed and continued with her story.
"It makes me wonder if what happened to me...If I'm over reacting about it...I mean, people have been through worse yet they still seem to be in better shape than me...So, am I wrong for feeling like this? Kazue asked seriously, her voice sounded so troubled. Though, more over what he was going to say in reply than anything else. She looked down at her feet while she waited for him to reply. It just won't fade away

• Are you afraid? • S huuhei kept his eyes on Kazue as she tried to find the right words, grateful for the smile that briefly lit up her face. He knew it would take time for his baby to heal – he was still healing from his former captain’s betrayal and he wasn’t even related to Tousen. He couldn’t even begin to imagine the pain Kazue was feeling. But he would be patient and hopefully, little by little, she would move past it and become even stronger for it.
He turned his head slightly at the thud of his son hitting the ground. He chuckled as Shuichi rubbed his bruised bum – and probably bruised ego – before turning back to his daughter. She wasn’t smiling anymore, but he hadn’t missed her laughter at her brother’s misfortune. Yes, there was hope. He just had to have faith. Faith and patience. But as she slowly began to speak, Shuuhei felt a frown slowly form on his face and his heart slowly break. He’d known this would be a tough conversation, but even so… Did she think she was weak, somehow? He sighed before reaching out, cupping her cheek in his hand and tilting her head up so he could look her in the eyes. His tone was low, but filled with patience and love. “Those people had years of training at the Shinōreijutsuin before they were allowed anywhere near a serious battle. They had a chance to condition themselves to some degree for what they faced.”
His expression became melancholic. “You didn’t have that chance, baby girl. And even if you had, most people have never seen someone they’ve known and loved their entire life suddenly turn into something monstrous – much less have the specter of their loved one attack them. In fact, I can only think of two or three who suffered such a terrible fate and it was not easy for them to move past it.” He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. “I can’t begin to imagine how hard this has been for you, Kazue.” He looked her in the eyes again. “But I promise you that you’re not overreacting. You are right to fear the Hollow that took control of your brother.”
He turned slightly to look at his son, letting his hand fall to Kazue’s shoulder. “If the thought of engaging an opponent on the battlefield truly terrifies you to your very core, then you are a true soldier and within your possession is something that is priceless. You see, fear allows us to hold our blades for those who share that fear,” he said, echoing his captain’s words from so long ago. He pressed his lips together firmly, feeling the familiar twist in his heart. Tousen’s betrayal didn’t change the truth of the words, but the truth didn’t change the pain either.
He turned back to Kazue. “I think that perhaps your brother fears his Hollow, too. But mostly, I think he fears hurting you. So he trains to become stronger so that it never happens again. And you’re getting stronger day by day because of your fear. You just haven’t yet found the balance between crippling terror and sensible fear.” He squeezed her shoulder and smiled reassuringly at her. “But you’ll get there, baby girl. I’m sure of it.” CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

When she saw Shuichi trying to come at her from the air she instantly shunpo'd to block, catching him off guard by stopping his sword before he could even attempt an attack, she left herself just enough room for a counter. While their blades were locked Kizo twisted her body into a position which made her next move possible, then, she launched a low round house kick to his tush and sent him hurling for the ground below. It would take him a moment to recover from the fall, so she used this to her advantage and completely suppressed her reiatsu, then she shunpo'd out of sight.
It was all a question of what to do next, but quickly thought of her next plan of attack. Standing on the reishi in the air ten feet behind him with her reiatsu level still suppressed, she pointed her index finger out at him."Hado#4,Byakurai." Kizomaru called, giving him enough of an indication of where the attack was coming from. Though, because of where it was coming from and how little time he had to prepare, he was just barely able to dodge. His left arm got singed as he shunpo'd to his right.
Kizo vanished again though reappeared shortly after and took yet another double swing at Shuichi with a quarter of her power, though he managed to dodge the attack with a side step and decided counter. Before he had the chance, however, Kizomaru had disappeared once more. Shuichi cursed and looked around, it seemed like she decided to step up her game, fortunately for Shuichi, Kizo appeared back in her normal spot with her stance relaxed.
"I think that's enough of a warm up now..." She began, catching his attention and watching as he turned to face her. Kizomaru looked over to Shuuhei and Kazue, it was time that Shuichi donned his hollow mask and she felt she should warn them. She had heard faint talking and waited for it to stop before she spoke. "Shuichi's going to start his hollow mask training now....If you two want to go off grounds for this, for Kazue's sake, then we'll wait for you."

Somebody get me through this nightmare Shuichi had been getting frustrated with the fight when Kizo started using her speed to her advantage, he'd barely been able to dodge her last few attacks, and of course when he tried to counter she dodged and disappeared again, dammit this was a pain! Granted, he knew a real battle would be like this, actually, worse than this, but it was frustrating none the less. Least she wasn't using her full strength when she attacked, he was sure he'd stand no chance if she was going one hundred percent, though he was sure she was upping her performance little by little, he'd never really learn anything otherwise.
He felt every muscle in his body tighten and tense up in expectation of another attack, but was relieved when none came, instead he turned around when she spoke to him and nodded. Hollow mask training...He'd been training with his mask for awhile now but, he couldn't help but worry about going out of control, to be afraid of hurting someone close to him...It scared him to no end, but he knew he had to do it. Though, he turned his gaze to where his mother had been looking, his father and sister, would her being here while he used his mask be a good idea?
"Yeah...I mean, I don't wanna spook her or anything..." Shuichi stated, he looked nervous, tense, afraid even. What if he lost control and hurt them? Attacked his family under the influence of that..Demon...He didn't want to risk that happening, though preventing it was enough of an incentive to make sure he kept a hold of himself this time, kept his wits about him. He knew though, that there was always a chance, and his apprehension showed in his tone, in his eyes, in his over all body language. He'd brave it though, he'd be dammed if he hurt anyone again. Kazue focused on nothing but her father, listening intently as he spoke to her, suddenly feeling like she was foolish for thinking like she had been, but she was relieved when he didn't think she asked a stupid question. She would have thought she had more to say, but everything she needed to hear he had already said to her, and it was like a weight had lifted from her chest. She could smile brightly now, that worry she had been carrying with her had melted into nothing, it was amazing how quickly she had been reassured. In her joy, she reached over and gave her father a hug."Thank you Papa, that really helped."
She couldn't help but hold on though, maybe it was silly or childish, but she really felt like she could use the comfort. She had grown up so fast, she had no choice to, she missed being hugged and coddled like when she was still a child. Eventually though, she knew she had to let go, but the smile never left her face when she looked back up at him, an appreciative smile, a happy smile, a smile of love and gratitude. She felt more comfortable now talking to them, maybe she was afraid they'd judge her, or be upset with her, but now she wouldn't ever think that again.
When she heard her mother speak, she flinched and tensed, the bright smile she so proudly wore before was replaced by a look of nervousness, but then all she had to do was remember what her father had just told her, and she seemed to relax a little bit. If he was scared, like Shuuhei had said, then she needed to be brave for him, and that meant not running away every time he used his mask. Now she looked determined, especially after her brother spoke, he even sounded frightened, that was it, she needed to be there to support him. She was going through her own trauma, but he had to live with that thing constantly, she couldn't even imagine how horrible that was..
Now her eyes narrowed, like they usually did when she was irritated with her brother, and she looked right back at him."Baka-nii! I'm..I'll be fine! Besides, I can't keep running away from you every time you use your mask and...I'm not going to just turn away now when you need my support. So, I'll be staying right here!" Kazue called back, her voice strong and sure, she knew he'd never turn from her in her time of need, and he hadn't yet anyway, so why should she run away just because she was afraid of that...Thing, when her brother needed her to be there for him. It just won't fade away

• Are you afraid? • S huuhei’s smile widened further as Kazue hugged him. He squeezed her back, murmuring, “Any time, baby girl. Any time.” He rubbed her back soothingly as she held onto him, gently kissing the top of her head. It was times like this that it really struck him – his babies were grown, but they still had so much growing up to do. He was glad that she didn’t feel foolish for seeking a little bit of comfort from him. She and Shuichi would always be his babies – he suspected every parent felt that way – and he would have to do his best to make sure they understood that no matter how old they got, he and Kizo would still be there for them. And if he could make that clear by something as small as holding Kazue a little longer than usual, that was fine by him. Although he had to admit, he was a little reluctant to let her go once she pulled away. Still…at least she was smiling again. He couldn’t help but grin back.
He turned his head to look at Kizo and Shuichi when his wife called over to them. Looking at his son, he knew his assumptions had been correct – the boy was terrified of hurting his sister again. Shuuhei wondered if perhaps they should leave. It would make things a little easier on both twins – ease their worries a bit, as it were. He was about to second Kizo’s and Shuichi’s suggestion when Kazue herself spoke up. Shuuhei turned to look in wonder at his daughter. Had his words really impacted her that much? His expression became thoughtful for a moment before he shrugged. “I guess we’ll be staying then,” he called back to Kizo. He smiled warmly. “I’m certain you won’t let things get out of hand.” CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE

Kizomaru smiled at her daughter, it was far from the reaction she had expected, did she and Shuuhei have a talk? Something was different, changed with her for the better, she'd find out later from Shuuhei himself, but she was glad to see Kazue so determined to be there for her brother. It was nice to see her like this, she hopped the change stuck around for awhile, she hated seeing her little girl so broken."Alright." She called back, a small, warm chuckle. "I'm proud of you Kazue-chan."
She turned to Shuichi, who looked irritated at being called by his little nick name. God it was nice seeing the two of them acting like normal siblings instead of one always being so hesitant or scared to approach the other, it hurt seeing them like that. They were twins, they were supposed to be inseperable, and when they were both having good days they were, but it still seemed like the amount of days they could be around each other like that were few and that was upsetting.
Looking back at Shuuhei, Kizo nodded."Of course I won't." She smiled back, while she was confident she could handle things if he hollowfied while they were training, she knew there was a chance that she might not have time to handle it. Despite, she prayed that the worst case scenario didn't happen, which of course would be that both of them lost control while they sparred, it was a small, very small chance, that it could happen, but the chance was there none the less.
Facing Shuichi once more, her face became serious, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath herself. With a swipe of her left hand, she had drawn down her hollow mask, Shuichi needed to be used to working around other Visoreds, Kizo using her mask would help with that."Alright, draw down your mask and charge me.

Somebody get me through this nightmare Shuichi's brow twitched, he hated being called a baka, especially when he was trying to be considerate of her, but he knew what she was really doing was putting on a brave face for his sake and that made him smile, he would've been disheartened if she decided to leave, it would've meant to him that she still only saw the monster in him and not her brother. Even after all this time he knew there were days when she couldn't stand to be near him, and it killed him, he had no idea how to help her if she was still so frightened. Of course they had gotten back to a somewhat normal brother/sister relationship since Kazue had been going through counciling, but he still felt so distant from her..
He narrowed his eyes back at her, speaking almost as if he were mocking her at first."Baka-nee! I was trying to watch out for you..." A bit of a scoff and harsh voice, but it was clear he didn't mean it, it was just how they were with each other sometimes. "But, thank you, it means a lot to me that you're staying here." Shuichi then smiled at his sister and grinned at Shuuhei as if to say he could handle himself, it was a cocky sort of grin, but it was meant more to reassure everyone there that he would try his best to win his inner battle."I'll kick this things ass Otou-san! Don't you worry about it!"
Shuichi turned back to their mother when he felt her reiatsu change as she donned her mask, it felt far more stable than how his felt whenever he donned his own mask. With a silent gulp and a nod, he swipped his hand down over his face starting at his forehead, soon his own hollow mask appeared. Before he replied to his mother, and got into the heart of their training, he turned back to his father, sclera completely black, piercing silver iris' looking up at him."If I loose control...Please, get her away from here......" [/color] Even through hollowfied eyes, his concern shone through, as well as a hint of sadness. He turned back to Kizo and did as he was told, he didn't even wait for Shuuhei's response, he just wanted to tire himself out before that demon had a chance to overthrow him. With a burst of speed he charged at Kizo and took a swipe across her chest, which was easily blocked. However while their blades were still locked, he aimed a kick to her gut which was able to get through, although it didn't send her flying, it was enough force for their blades to unlock and become free to use. He charged forward once more, seeming more relentless than before drawing his mask, perhaps he was trying to rush his training. Kazue couldn't help but smile proudly at her mother's praise, it was all thanks to her Papa that she had been feeling brave enough to stay here, if she had never spoken to her father then she would've agreed with them and left the training grounds. She kept wondering why she refused before, then, something clicked. She didn't have much time to dwell on the thought however, because her brother had called back. At first she returned the glare and even stuck her tongue out at him, she was gonna retort before he cut her off with a thank you and a smile, which she returned with her own smile. She didn't have time to respond though, feeling her mother don her hollow mask kind of set her in a small shock but it was one she shook off quickly.
She took a breath and calmed her beating heart, however her eyes went wide when Shuichi spoke next, he looked so worried as he spoke to their father, and sounded it too...She couldn't help but feel her heart break for him, it was just another reason why she had to get past this fear, maybe if she wasn't as afraid he might not worry so much. That would help relieve some stress, least she thought it might, but she knew he was also terrified of hurting her again.
When Shuichi donned his hollow mask she became a statue, she reached over and gripped her fathers hand tightly, trying to breath through the panic attack she had just felt settle in, she couldn't even speak. All she could feel was the rapid beating of her heart, she could only hear the sounds of panting, her eyes were wide as she stared off into space. She was having a flash back, right now, all she could see was the visage of her hollowfied brother charging their babysitter and herself. She was back in the Dangai, and she needed to be snapped back quick. It just won't fade away
