For: Shikai
Name: Yari Utsu (Spear Shoot)
Type: Offensive
Cost: Low
Range: Long
Description: Watt extends the chain on his Shikai-form Zanpakuto, at a speed of ten feet per second. The chain can be extended up to twenty feet – if it reaches twenty feet and attempts to extend any further, the chain will jar, and flop to the floor, where it will automatically retract, completely retracting after three seconds. Though fast, the attack is not particularly powerful, and is more useful when used in conjunction with Watt’s other techniques. It is usually used in self-defence, or as a grappling hook of sorts – he can influence the spearhead’s density momentarily, and though it has little practical use in an attack, it is useful if he is attempting to wrap the chain around something from a distance.
For: Shikai
Name: Chintsū-zai (Tranquiliser)
Type: Offensive
Cost: Moderately taxing for weak sedative, highly taxing for moderate sedative
Range: Long
Description: If the spearhead is embedded in a sentient being, the technique can be used. To signify that it is in use, the chain will glow a pale blue, and will be surrounded by a slight amount of (purely aesthetic) vapour.
Watt can choose to inject the victim with either a weak or moderate sedative. This is, of course, when used on a being of weak spiritual power, such as an unranked Shinigami, or a bog-standard Hollow. Against beings at his level, it is likely that the sedatives may pose a temporary threat (one to two posts), but continuous movement and/or an adrenaline rush will likely cause the sedative to be burnt through.
For: Shikai
Name: Hīringu Chēn (Healing Chain)
Type: Healing
Cost: Slow energy drain on user
Range: Long
Description: Watt extends the chain on his Zanpakutō, into an ally. The spearhead will embed itself in the ally, if the technique was successful, and will stay there as long as desired. The spearhead, when used on beings deemed as allies, causes no pain or injury, and simply appears to be phasing through them. The chain will then glow white, signifying that the technique is taking place.
The technique’s target is healed continuously by the energy flowing through the chain, while the chain itself adjusts its length according to how far away the target is, up to twenty feet – whereupon the chain removes itself from the target, and retracts. The healing energy is a weakened version of the kido used by squad four for healing. Small wounds such as bruises and scrapes will take around a minute to heal, moderate wounds such as cuts and gashes will take around five minutes to heal. Serious wounds, such as lacerations and broken bones will take around half an hour of continuous healing.
Though the exact specifications are unclear, and his Zanpakutō stubbornly refuses to divulge any details, Watt cannot use the technique when in a combat situation. It is most likely that the Zanpakutō can sense the environment around it, to an extent, and will refuse to let the technique activate in such situations. However, it seems to function perfectly fine once the conflict is over, or all issues have been resolved so as to provide a temporary ceasefire. To put it simply, this technique cannot be used in the middle of a fight, and would do nothing but provide a link between doctor and patient.
For: Shikai
Name: Shīrudo Chāji (Shield Charge)
Type: Defensive
Cost: Moderate
Range: Long
Description: This technique can only be used once per thread, after ten posts where Watt has sustained or dealt significant damage, and can only be used if an ally has the spearhead of Watt’s Shikai-form Zanpakutō embedded in them.
As Watt deals and takes damage – self-inflicted damage not included – energy will build up in his Zanpakutō, the chain sparking when energy buildup reaches maximum capacity. By focussing a split-second burst of energy as a catalyst, the technique is activated. The target is granted a greatly increased pain threshold, and any attacks hitting either the target or Watt have their knockback cancelled. Damage will still be taken, but it can be walked straight through, if it can be endured. Resistance is also granted to energy-based attacks, cutting their power by a third.
During the technique, both parties will glow profusely, with a crimson aura. The charge is extremely short, however, lasting only a single post, and requires one post for Watt to activate it, while performing no other techniques.
