Rin had looked past the intruding Captain, and unbeknown to Rukia had made eyes at her, even though she couldn't see them. The Captain had indeed intruded on their conversation, anyone with an ounce of respect for his equals would of waited until their conversation was over to enter the room, or at least knocked to let them know he was coming in. "Nah, let's just jump in through a window." Rin thought, a little irritated at the very moment, but something that soon passed as quickly as it came. The Captain's fingers escaped into his hair as he pulled it back behind his ears, revealing his face. Then he started to speak, and what he spoke was so ridiculous. At this moment in time, she knew it was good that no one could see her face, because the face she was making was somewhere along the lines of, "Really, really, did he.. did he just say that?" Then suddenly as soon as he stopped talking he started again, now knowing he had over-heard parts of their conversation.
Talking about how they should go to Wonderland instead of Avalon, and even though RIn could she wasn't planning on it, especially how plain ridiculous he was being. Almost like a child, and if Rin recalled, he was practically twice the age she was. Well, she guessed, maybe maturity didn't come with age? The Captain pounced off the desk, and then turned to Rukia. He was suggesting that it was good Rukia and Rin were not doing anything embarrassing, and in that moment she couldn't help but visibly face palm herself. Watching him between her fingers, as her hand fell from her face, his manic laugh filling the room as he ruffled Rukia's hair and turned back to Rin. Although now a smile was on her face as he replied abet cleverly to her comment on him being between women. "Well Captain Kurosawa, if I were a betting woman, I'd assume that Rukia was your Captain and you her Lieutenant." She said, sitting in the chair, as she strummed her fingers gently before speaking again. "Although, I suppose age does not determine maturity, especially when you can live as long as we do." She said, just throwing out some facts.
Since she wasn't a hundred percent sure how she wanted to come across to the Captain. It was only moments ago that she was telling Rukia how inadequate she felt to Captain's who were older than her, but now, upon the meeting of Captain Kurosawa, she suddenly felt superior, being so young, and more than likely fighting on the same level as him. "Besides the point Captain Kurosawa, it's good that I was finally able to meet your acquaintance, I've been trying to meet all the Captains and Lieutenants of Gotei 13, after finally deciding I need to come out of the shell of Kido Corps." She stated rather plainly, as her neck shifted to look over and up at him. "I would like to comment on Lieutenant Kuchiki though, she has been a real pleasure to speak to thus far, and has wisdom well beyond her years, you could say, her and I are very similar in that aspect."
She now choose to look away from the Captain, staring at through the window as an audible yawn was heard. Rin had become so relaxed with the Lieutenant and the prospect of going to Avalon had been exciting until it was dashed to the road, well for the time being at least. Then her attention suddenly turned to another question the Captain had proposed and she almost forgot to answer. "Well, the real reason I was going to steal Lieutenant Kuchiki was because I thought she deserved a break. Since.. it looks like you decided to take a break yourself and leave your Lieutenant to do all the work." She said as she continued to jab at him with her words. Not necessarily being mean, but using some wit to poke at him to see how he would react. So far, he seemed to be the happiest and most carefree Captain she had met yet, and perhaps even abet childish, although who knew if it was a ploy or not to gain her trust?

rukia kuchiki ~As her Captain spoke, Rukia wanted to roll her eyes at his behavior. Shaking her head some, though would of laughed at him falling in the window if she didn't care about being disrespectful. But held back. Looking from him to Rin, almost wishing she could hide her expressions at the moment, than again, Rukia wasn't easy to read by most. Taking a page from her brother in that aspect. Though when he turned to her and spoke she sighed softly, those nicknames got on her nerves at times. Raising a brow when he continued and she crossed her arms, looking over at Rin a moment.~ "Captain... What myself and Captain Minatsuki is between us, but nothing Soul Reaper important. Just two females wishing for some girl talk if you will." ~His mention of Wonderland and coming with, almost had a groan coming from his Lieutenant, but she held it back. Once more pulling from her brothers book on controlling her outward appearance.
Mentally, well that was another story, but hearing Rin she couldn't help smiling. A faint tint to her cheeks at the mention of Rukia the Captain, while he was her lieutenant, the image quite interesting. But she wasn't sure anyone would accept or take her serious in such a role. Hell she didn't even have a bankai. Still to hear someone say such a thing, made her feel good. Although, shortly after her happiness, he came over and was ruffling her hair which earned a glare finally.~ "Captain. Must I remind you to not do that. I'm not a child and would prefer if you didn't treat me like one so much." ~Gripping her hands against her arms tighter, she had enough going on without a superior treating her as such. Closing her eyes a moment and taking in a few breaths, before hearing Rin spoke again. But her Captain had her attention some, shaking her head about the window, it was her office she wanted air now didn't see. Besides he was the one sneaking around and coming in through it instead of the bloody door.~
"Captain. With all due respect, I do take breaks thank you. I just prefer to keep when or how to myself, I just happened to be thinking of one when the Kido Corps Captain came by." ~Not sure how she wanted to take the mention of his Zanpakuto coming to play, but pushed it aside for now. Her mind going back to her problem and she faught to not scream or make any unneeded action to the fact. Walking towards the said window and looking out, her face away so she didn't worry. At least for the moment either noticing anything. 'Damn it brother why aren't you around when I need to talk? her mental thoughts screaming. Although upon hearing Rin's comment about why they had been planning to leave, got her to turn smiling to the Captain. Before looking to her own captain to see how he reacted to the words.~

Ryou turned and looked at Rukia as he tilted his head curiously. A certian innocence was spread across his features that showed he had no idea what she was talking about. Then it just seemed to hit him all at once, and the expression on his face was shaped by a bit of perverse amusment, "Oh my dear Rukia-chan, you need to ssspend more time with your sssilly head out of the gutter. I wouldn't dare make any sssuch implacations towardsss one sssuch as yourssself. It would be quite uncouth of me to sssay the leassst." He grinned at his Vice Captain as he asked her in a joking manner, "Really now isss that what think is the firssst that isss on mind when I crawl through the window... for ssshame." The Captian was certianly in his more playful nature at the moment, not that he didn't have his serious side, but he simply saw no need for it at the moment.
His expression seemed to grow a bit more serious... and the tone of his voice a bit more monotone in nature. As he pinned Rukia under his gaze for a moment to say, "Well if the Lieutenant thinks ssshe can make the 13th Divisssion an even more well oiled machine than me. Ssshe is certianly welcome to try it. Though I don't think that my 'mother' would be to happy about it." Mother was the way that Ryou thought of his sword. By this point he had stopped speaking for a moment so that he could get eye level with his Lieutenant. The Captian's doll black eyes that showed the broken and tried creature he was on the inside, and seemed to stare right into the soul in a chilling fashion... stared into Rukia's, "Kuchiki-san, I wouldn't have wanted you to be my Vice-Captian if I thought of you as a child now would I?" The smile that was on his face this time was a much softer one, and didn't seem as silly and even his voice had caring tone to it. He didn't like the idea of being to much of an annoyance one of the Mistresses afterall. His face seemed to regain that mischivious glow about it as he reclaimed his spot on top of the desk.
"But I can certianly tell you one thing..." That grin of his quickly returned as repiled, "That Rukia-chan will always be Rukia-chan, and Minatsuki-san over here would have sssent that money down the drain becaussse my impectable taste for style and bowties makes it way to obvious who is the bosss around here." His laughther though was cut short, and fade away as he stared at the younger Captain with a raised eyebrow, resting his cheek in his hand as he tilted his head to the side he asked, "Oh really now Minatsuki-sssan? Then what construct doesss one rate maturity on, or even better why does it even matter? What is mature is a matter of opinion and consssidering how long we live... I think worrying about sssuch sssilly matters only makesss all that time boring. We do have a lot of to fill after all, and certianly have to get creative." It was now that he spoke in nature someone would consider coming form someone his age, but it also had an almost far off sage like tone to it. Kurosawa could act older than his age when he wanted to...
"Certianly a certianly a prudent act there Minatsssuki-san... yesss indeed. It wouldn't be good to have the Captian of the Kido Corpsss acting like a sssilly Mock Turtle, oh no it would not. I can certianly sssay though, that the pleasssure was mine asss well." Looking over in the direction of his Lieutenant and back to the Captian and then back and forth again, "Why of courssse she is Minatsssuki-san. Alwaysss a pleasssure... yes alwaysss so. Not only that, but ssshe is hard working, isss nice enough to put up with me, makes a really nice cup of tea if I mussst say so myssself." While counting each thing he said on his fingers, the captian spoke his compliments in way that showed he didn't care if Rukia heard them, "Oh... and she is also very PUNCTUCIAL!!" The last word came out a little loud, "And you know what they say about punctuicallity Minatsuki-chan... it is a VURITUE!!" The last three words sounded a bit more minacical than most which was why he paused for a moment to say, "Sorry..." Before he could contiune though, Rin's words caught him off gaurd as his face took on the look of a puppy who had done somthing wrong...
Turning to regard his Lieutenant he said, "Rukia-chan if you really need to take sssome time to yourssself, you know that I am more than happy to do your work for you. I don't sssleep much anyway so it really isss not a problem. You know how much I enjoy doing paper work anyway." The Captian's tone was back to that more caring one as he turned to Rin and spoke continued speaking in this more rational yet softer tone, "Besidesss everything ssseemed finissshed for the day, and I wasss quite confedient that my dear Rukia-chan could handle anything that came her way and would sssend those adoreable little butterfliesss if ssshe needed help. I can't exactlly give a break that is not asssked for now can I Minatsssuki-san?" He then added on a little caveat at the end of his setance as he stared at the back of Rukai's head looking out the window, "Nor help with problemsss about which I don't know..." He was a bit realieved to see her smiling when she turned back.

It was nice to see the compliments she had offered to Rukia were taken in stride, and even a faint blush had appeared on her cheeks. Rin couldn't help but think to herself out cute that was, but was glad to see the words she had spoken highly of Rukia hadn't gone directly to her head. It was especially nice to see that Lieutenant wasn't being pushed around by her Captain, since it seemed he enjoyed treating her like a child, or at least that's how she felt. Rin had always been much smarter than everyone throughout her entire life, but she had never talked down to anyone, or made anyone feel inferior to her. Always trying to treat everyone as an equal unless they deserved to be talked down to, due to circumstances such as the ones that seemed to be presenting themselves now. Although it seemed at the very moment, that the Captain was made of pure silliness.
He spoke to her about getting her head out of the gutter, and that she shouldn't think such things, more or less she figured because he was a guy, but what guy didn't think those things when it involved two women being alone? Then he finally took her comment in stride, how she would of guessed Rukia being a Captain because of her maturity over him, saying that she could be if she could run the division, but his mother wouldn't like it. At that moment, she had become all but lost in his words, not really sure how to take his comment and she continued to stay quiet. Although it seemed the Captain could only get more and more weird. It's almost seemed if he was pulling words out of his, although a bit cleverly, because they oddly made sense, if you could follow his complicated train of thought. Although it seemed he appreciated his Captain, as he continued to compliment her, in his silly fashion. Finally, after the torrent of comments stopped spewing she was finally able to fight back with her own words.
"Well, it seems the silly Captain of the thirteenth division does have a serious side to him after all." She replied, before she adjusted herself in her chair to sit up further in it. "Why does maturity matter, Captain Kurosawa? Because, maturity seems to almost be parallel to leadership. Have you ever heard of a human world leader who ruled while absolutely absurd? I can't recall one that has." She asked, while standing up and out of her chair, as she needed to stand to get into a battle of wits, with the Captain who seemed to be the jester of the Gotei 13. "And it may seem Lieutenant Kuchiki can handle any work that is thrown at her, but you have to take into fact Captain Kurosawa, that people like Kuchiki and I, are not the ones who typically ask for help, even if we need it." She said, as she was now walking as she spoke, choosing to turn her back to the Captain. "Personally, I handle ninety-nine percent or more of the paper work that passes through the Kido Corps, myself. I feel it is necessary that my Lieutenant handles other necessary matters. Such as, training to learn their Bankai, or perhaps learning a new bit of Kido to benefit the Corps."
She said as she turned back towards the Captain now, with her right hand, holding her left hands wrist at her waist, as she almost assumed that the Captain could probably feel her gaze. "Although it is not for me to say how to run your division Captain Kurosawa, I can only give you insight on how I run my own division here in the Gotei, and I can only hope that maybe you'll take it to heart and consideration and perhaps apply some of my methods to your own division." She said, as she took a few more steps towards the desk where the Captain was seated. Now, she was standing directly against it, within possibly two to three feet of the Captain. Her stance seemed a little aggressive, her neck rigid , as she wasn't afraid of the Captain in the least, or what seemed to be an oppressive and soul-piercing stare. "Lieutenant Kuchiki, it was a pleasure to have your acquaintance, I will definitely take the words you spoke to me in stride."
Rin said, looking past Captain Kurosawa, before she turned her head to the right, giving her a soul piercing glare herself, although being headless the effect was moot. "Captain Kurosawa... I suppose it was nice to meet you too. Although, I think small doses will have to do for now until I can... handle your humor." She said before abruptly turning on her foot and making her way to the door, she stopped and looked back over her shoulder. "Good day to the both of you." She said before she made her way to the door and exited. Deciding that she honestly couldn't take anymore of the Captain's... absurdity. It was more annoying than it was humorous. How he could mix the two together was beyond her. Rin typically only had two attitudes, one that she shared with friends where she could be carefree and calm, like she had been with Rukia moments before, or the one she had taken on with the annoyance she'd approiately refer to as, "Captain Kurosawa." Besides the point, she had a lot to think about, and more people to meet.

rukia kuchiki ~A brief look to the Captain and she arched a brow as she spoke, as if her mind was one to be in the gutter. It was how he had worded his comments to them that made it appear, just where he was hinting.~ "It was not my mind in the gutter, but rather your comments, that lead to believe you had it going that way." ~Staring back at him, slightly annoyed, well with how this whole situation was getting. So much for relaxing and being calm that just got shot in the butt. Blinking a moment at his comment about her being a better Captain.
Sighing some softly, a glance over to Rin before she shook her head. Rukia had said or thought no such thing, merely Rin had made the comment. Where he got she was actually thinking of believing it was beyond her. Blinking at the hint to his sword again and she closed her eyes before she spoke. Or was, but as she reopened them he was right there. Rukia faught to not step back, instead just looked back, waiting for whatever he wished to say. Nodding some.~ "That might be true, but you still at times treat me as if I were a child. So please stop." ~Trying to not be showing him disrespect, it was merely a request and she hoped it would be heeded. Mentally sighing as he just went back and forth from funny to serious without a thought.
Shaking her head some at his joke and did roll her eyes. Bowties made you a captain? Okay that was a new one on her. But she didn't say it outloud, instead just watched or rather listened, as the two had their little word match. So much for this calm, friendly talk with Rin, seemed even she wasn't any longer happy. Though than the compliments from her Captain had that tint of pink on her cheeks again. Looking away, at the way he punctuated the behavior he approved of. God, she hated being the center of attention.
When Rin had called him on how much he worked her, she wasn't sure to expect. So when he spoke she merely shook her head some.~ "I know Captain, just gives me something to try and take my mind off other things. Besides you know I don't like feeling like a slacker." ~Looking back out the window, that was just how she was, not wanting to burden anyone, or make herself seem like she is a lazy person. Which was why she didn't often ask for help. Period. Of course at the moment, she was just being stubborn, but she honestly didn't have much to tell. So how could anyone hope to help. Not commenting about the not asking for a break, but did tense at his last comment. 'Damn it...he noticed.' hating that she didn't keep her feelings in check better. Although she had been rathe quiet, letting the two Captains have their word match, she did spin around suddenly.
When Rin spoke of leaving it shocked her, and she held back the annoyance at her own Captain. So much for getting a break from everything, she just shook her head.~ "Thank you for coming by, Captain Minatsuki. Please come by anytime to talk and I'm glad let me know if I can help any way." ~Offering the other woman a smile, she generally was happy to meet her, to bad it came to a sudden halt. Glancing to her Captain once Rin left and looked back out the window, her arms still crossed. Debating what to do now.~

The instant that Rin question his leadership abilities, as well as how much he took care of his 'family'. Ryou's nature seem went form playful, to completely ice cold, as though a ghostly spirit had desended into the room. The man reached over and put his top hat back on his head, before letting his hair fall in front of his face. He did this to hide the look of murderous intent that crossed his eyes, but his killing intent could have been easily felt. That was all it was though... a reaction... a momentary reaction. It was the fact that she was a fellow Shinigami that kept him from taking it a step further. He could hear the voices of his Zanpakuto in his head as he crossed his arms, "Why that bicth. She has nothing to make that kind of jugdement about you master." Sukai's voice also chimed in, "Yeah that little runt needs to learn to respect her elders a bit more. We have worked hard to get here and do so every fucking day. I would like to see her work on 3 hours of sleep I tell you that much." Ryou tried to ingore them, his face was emotionless, and unreadable. The Captian was angery, but he had learned to control himself long ago... had he been 100 years younger, there probably would have been a fight.
Yet the man remained calm as he wacthed, and wondered if even Rukia found him to be as much of an annoyance as the other Captian did. The very idea that his own Lieutenant found him to be annoying did bother Ryou more than slightly. One thing was for certian though, the Captian of 13th Division planned on making it quite clear that he didn't tolerate anyone questioning his hardwork nor his leadership abiltiy. This was why when the other Captian turned her back on Ryou that he said there saying nothing, only waiting until she turned to look back at him. Then he stared at her with his hair covering over his face, while one black eye stared into hers through those raven locks... it almost seemed say, 'tread lightly my dear'. If thier was one thing he knew how to do... and that was to make threats without actually making them. At that moment though, Rin and even further mistake of stepping towards him, and Ryou did exactlly the same. Climbng off his spot on the desk she would find herself face to face with him. That smile that had left his face before had now returned, though this time it boreded on pychotic in nature, and for the first time he spoke since she had started lecturing him,
"Minatsssuki-chan... I am only going to give you thisss piece of advice once. Do not ever come here and insult thisss Divisssion again. Rukia-sama and the ressst of my family work hard becausse they want to. Not becaussse I make them... and if you want to insssult what I do for my Divisssion, well then you go ahead. Yet if you imply that I don't work hard for my family then you come back here when you do 99.9% of the paper work. Other than that young lady... my mother doesn't mind teaching you the many harsssh lessonss she taught me asss well... Just name the time and place." Ryou seemed like a completely differnt person, and his seriousness was starting to cross over into the more dangerous part of his personallity. All he had wanted was to be friendly towards the Kido-Corps Captian, and now she had rebuffed him. It wasn't so much anger as it was dissapointment that she would blatently try to dystory the camradere that he had always been used to with his fellow Shinigami. Though when Ryou thought about it... his odd nature always made him a bit of a paraih sometimes. Not that any of them ever understood... they would never understand.
He waited the other Captian had left before he walked around and sat down in the chair, propping his feet up on the desk while relaxing with his hand behind his head. There was a bit of a quite period there before he turned to look at Rukia with a look that seemed to come form a disheartened person. The Captian's emotions where always quite the roller coaster somtimes, and he could be in the clouds one moment, and below the sea the next... "Rukia-san... do I really bother you that much....?" His words faded off as though he almost was afraid of the answer. The Captian did have those he actually cared about, and wethier or not his antics had some effect on them occasionally crossed his mind... not always, but somtimes. It was part of the more paternal way he seemed to treat his Division, "I will try not to treat like a child... If that will make you happy. I wasss completely suriousss about what I said before though, if you are having a problem... you do know that you can asssk for my help, or at leassst for sssome time off." He almost wondered if he should make it a order or not... then realized that maybe it would be best left up to Rukia.

rukia kuchiki ~Feeling the aire around the room, Rukia turned and looked between her Captain and Rin. Seeing how they were nose to nose right now and could feel his not so happy aura. But didn't even hesitate, coming around the desk she moved her small hands between them. Separating them and stood so she was the buffer.~ "Come on you two. Let's just back it down alright. This isn't the time nor place to be getting into such arguments or worse. Please." ~Not calling one out more than the other, she wanted them both to calm it down. Not thinking Rin did it to rile up the other Captain, but than she might be wrong. Still she didn't care, right now they both just needed to step back and calm down. Watching as Rin finally stepped back before waving and leaving. So she dropped her hands and moved away once more, going towards the window again, assuming her former position. The silence while annoying, was a little inviting, but knowing her Captain was waiting for his questions.~
"It's not that you bother me. It's just at times I am not sure of your true intentions. Are you joking or being serious or what. You are not exactly the easiest person to understand Captain. Please don't take this wrong, but you act at times, like a child, and for some its hard to be serious." ~Keeping her eyes to the window as she spoke, not particularly wanting to see the disappointment on his face. That and she was trying to clear her mind, not about him. Just in general, well with the troubled feelings she had been having. As he spoke again she, slightly turned her head and nodded, offering a small smile. The rest of his words, had her sucking in a breath, and closing her own violet eyes.~
"It's not something that can be helped, when the cause or anything isn't known. There isn't much to say, so help is frutile."

Despite the fact that he was still angry at the words that Rin had said, the Captain at least seemed to noticably relax whenever his Lieutenant stepped in bettewen them. His arua seemd to relax noticeably, as did his body, but that killing intent stayed in his eyes until after Rin had left the room. His words were spoken in a soft manner as he moved to the chair now occupied, "Thank you for that Rukia-sssan. I am sssorry for my outbrussst." It was quite obvious that his apoligy was meant for his Lieutenant having to see him like that, and had nothing to do with his words towards Rin. He sat their in his chair as he pondered over the situation at hand... especially the fact that the Kido Corps Captian didn't seem to fond of him. That wasn't really the part that bothered him though, since he did get on alot of peoples nerves, but what it was that because of her age.... would she be rash and let it interfer with her thought process when conducting bussniess. Another reason he had been so willing to calm down is that it had been Rukia requesting it and he had a feeling that his Vice Captian didn't want to deal with too much extra stress at the moment.
Wait for her answer the man just stared at the other Shinigami with a curious, and seemingly bored look on his face. Though her answer was one that he had heard echoed from other people yet he wondered if he should actually explain himself. His past had infected his present quite heavily, and luckily for Kurosawa his Zanpakuto had played it's part in holding him together mentally for him to mature over a very long period of time to learn to adapt and in a way bury it his past. At least that was the way that someone else might have explained it. To Ryou though, he was just having fun... especially considering how long his life span would be... The man saw no reason that one could not have fun in any way that he choose. Still the very idea that his nature might make one of those whom he considered improtant to him unsure... well now that could not be allowed to contiuned "Rukia-sssan... you need to underssstand, that there isss alot about me that well... I wonder if sssome even I remember it correctly. Like sssomthing is misssing, or doesssn't want to be let. Maybe it ssshouldn't be let out. Mother sssays that isss probably the best thing for me. At leassst until the right moment comesss along, and maybe then... Thingsss can be let go.
His voice faded off for a moment as he realized that he was starting to get a bit long winded, and he was sure that Rukia didn't want to hear his problems. Since it seemed obvious to him that she might be having some problems of her own. "If nothing elssse I at leassst hope that you alwaysss know that my intentions are certianly never to harm you, and to alwaysss be there to help whenever you need me." He hoped that his words came off the way that he meant, since his words were again spoken with a affectionate tone. Standing up the Captian laid his top hat back down on the desk and stood next to Rukia to smile back at her, before gently slipping his arm around her shoulder to pull her into a momentary embrace... before he let her go he said softly, Even if that isss the cassse. Doesssn't mean I can't be here to lend morale sssupport as always Rukia-sssan. He let go and leaned back against the wall after giving her a soft pat on the shoulder.

rukia kuchiki "I just didn't want you both doing something you would regret. It wasn't like a serious issue that needed to go so far, especially from two captains." ~Her voice low, but she had a point, fighting like this was stupid and would no doubt make them both look foolish. Plus, she wasn't wanting the stress that would come if had progressed and lord knows she would of. Sighing softly as she closed her eyes a moment unsure what else to say and just remained her normal quiet self. But as she answered his other question, hoped he didn't take it wrong or get upset, he had asked. So Rukia was being completely honest, still she hated having superiors upset with her. Made for stress and uncomfortable working situations.
When he spoke, she glanced over at him, listening quietly for the moment. Though did arch a brow some to what he was saying. But when he went on to say Mother said he shouldn't let anything out she had to agree. Even if Rukia wasn't complete sure what it was. Sighing some before looking down, thinking for the moment till he spoke once more. Looking at him again and gave a weak nod.~ "I know you are and I appreciate it. Really I do." ~Returning to looking out the window, at least till an arm wrapped around her shoulders. And she was suddenly pulled against her Captain, in an embrace that startled her. Before she moving an arm around his side and hugged him, slightly awkwardly back.~
"Thank you, it's just and I'm sure you know like most. I have never been one to burden other, or ask for help usually. Preferring to handle things myself, it's why I rarely ask for breaks or time off. I guess you can call me independant. But still thank you. Just I don't know what is going on honestly and wouldn't even know what to tell anyone. To even suggest helping." ~Feeling the pat on back and turned to look out the window again, wishing she was just tired and overworked. But knew it was more than that, just not sure what or even where to go and start to figure it out.~

Looking at his Lieutenant, Ryou was really starting to worry about her. After all this time of knowing her though, he always found that it was more helpful not to let on. It would only add to whatever stress that his second in command was under. No he knew that he would have to wait and until she was ready to talk about it with him on her own time. That didn't mean though, that the Captain was going to stand around waiting for that day to come. The 13th Division Captain hoped that maybe he could encourage Rukia to talk to him about what was going on, or at least help her understand it. That was the other possibility in this entire scenario. Rukia might not have even understood it herself, which was something that Ryou could relate to. Given the fact that he didn't understand the problems in his own head sometimes, and it had taken many many years of stumbling along with trail and error to get to were he was. So in a way he felt that maybe he would be in a good position to help Rukia if she was willing to at least let him try. Whatever way he could be of any help was the way that he wanted to go... So as he let go of the hug and looked at Rukia again an idea popped into his head... maybe what she needed was simply someone to talk about it with? He guessed he could try that... he had always used his Mother to talk to, so maybe Rukia could take to him some, but first...
"You know what Rukia-san? I can tell you right now what I think would be really good for the two of us, and that would be a nice hot cup of tea. Also if you want I can get sssome candy for us as well?" He didn't mean candy in a childish sense, and the tone of his voice showed this. Instead it simply had to do with the fact that sweets should help to make her feel better and more relaxed, "Jussst have a ssseat, and maybe we can talk every over. I actually went out for that walk... becaussse thingsss are very slow around the Divisssion today so we have time. Plusss if it all comesss to nothing anyway, at leassst we had some relaxing tea time to ssshoot the breeze. I don't mind thingsss going in the direction of ideal sssmall talk." His laughter was one that born of the Captain's more pleasant nature, which like the darker part of his aura radiated throughout the room and lessened the tension. Walking towards the door of the room he motioned to the couches and chairs that were separate from the desk, so that it would be a less formal affair. Kurosawa hoped that if he could get Rukia to relax a bit more then maybe she feel more comfortable talking about the problem.
When he reached the door the Captain looked and luckily one of the younger lower seated members happened to be going by. He recognized the person too, but it wasn't in any connection with a name, but instead the fact that this Shinigami seemed to know how brew a really good cup of tea. Now Ryou's idea of tea was of a more European style, just like his clothes... and that was why he had it brought to him in a special tea cup. It was a very well adored English style teacup that had three odd looking black lung dragons chriss-crossing it's red surface. The cup was so ornate that it obviously was from the human world, and was crafted by hand. Ryou though, never would admit how old it was, but he was sure that it would be hard to replace the craftsmanship and care that went into making it. The tea for Rukia, well... funny thing was that Ryou had memorized how his Vice Captain liked it, and so that was exactly what he had brought... and in whatever container she wanted. Along with that was a tray of various candies... including again ones that Ryou had brought for Rukia. Also he let the seated Shinigami take a few for themselves, for being a good sport in helping him with his quick chore. It was quite amusing how fast Ryou was able to get the tea and candy to the table, before sitting himself down and motioning for Rukia to join while saying, "Ssso Rukia-san, come on over and sssit down. Relax and tell me about what hasss been on your mind. Don't worry about sssolutions or trying to figure thingsss out for the moment. We can do that together. Jussst give me eventsss, or ssspecificsss... so that maybe we can ssstart trying to piece it together if you would like."
The way the Captain spoke was in a very relaxed and friendly manner. It was certainly not a side of him you usually saw... well Rukia would have, but that was how he always treated those he actually cared about. There also didn't seem to be any pressure in his voice, and while he might have said a lot of things or asked al ot of questions. One could tell by the way he was going about things, that Ryou wouldn't mind the conversation being guided in one direction or another. At the same time, it was also obvious that he did want to try and give Rukia a spot were maybe should could sort out her feelings with some moral support... that could be kept hidden form the rest of the Division. If there was one thing that could be said about Kurosawa, it was that the man was an good secret keeper. People gossiped about him (Mostly his weirdness) he never did such silly things.

rukia kuchiki ~Anyone that knew the Lieutenant, knew she could be as stubborn, if not worse than her brother. Byakuya was probably the most stubborn, of the 13 gotei captains. Not to mention hardest to read, since he rarely showed any kind of emotion what so ever. But Rukia was damn close, even with not being related to him by blood, her being around the man, helped to pick up on his nature. Not to mention Rukia had learned, letting others inside, was grounds for being hurt. Sometimes, it was just better to deal with your problems alone, not burden them on others. Or so she believed. Which was why she rarely asked for help, time-off, anything that others might. That stubborn streak. So of course she was taken back, when her captain mentioned them sitting down to talk. Even making it clear it was just small talk. But it still had her slightly uneasy.~"Talk? Talk what over Captain, what are you trying to say."
~Ah yes, Rukia's other little tactic for avoidance, denial or playing the stupid card. Those violet eyes, looking over at her Captain curiously, praying he really hadn't picked up on anything. Than again wasn't that just her luck? Ichigo, Byakuya, Koharu, Renji were all able to pick-up on her distress even when she tried to hide it. Sure she had known her Captain awhile, it just took alot to get her to open up. If at all. So she stood there for the moment, milling it over in her mind, while biting on her lip nervously. Though, she did watch him, head to the door before speaking with a lower seated member. If never seemed to shock her much, how the man most seemed to gossip about, also had this way about him. That made people want to still listen to him, perhaps it was his goofy nature. Rukia honestly didn't know, but had seen it on more than one occasion.
Of course, it was when the scent of mango hit her nose, she couldn't hold back the smile. Letting out a breath, she still hesitated for a few seconds, till he called to her and she finally walked over. Seeing the candy as well spread out on the tray, she offered another faint smile. Biting on her lip before she took a seat on the couch, taking the cup which held her style tea and sipped. His words had her mulling it over in her head, but she still hated burdening someone else. Hell what would she tell them. Rukia just didn't know what this was, if it was just her stressing, work or was it having some kind of meaning.~ "Why do you think anything is on my mind? I could just simple be thinking about work, or ideas to help the squad is all." ~Keeping her voice low, she took another sip of her tea, but her eyes stayed closed. Leaning back on the couch for the time and letting out another soft sigh. But obviously being her typical stubborn self at the moment.~

The look that Ryou gave Rukia was one that had the words 'don't play dumb with me' written all over it, but certainly not as harsh. In fact the best way to describe it was simply a knowing smile that stayed planted on his face, "I didn't mean anything by it Rukia-sssan. Just a nice talk, were you could relax and let any 'extra weight' off your shouldersss so to ssspeak." The Captain knew that he would have to tread carefully or else he might lose his chance to help out his second in command. He didn't want to imply anything that might bring out that temper that his Vice-Captain sometimes had, or even make her withdraw further away from his ability to help. What worried him though was the fact that his Lieutenant was a very stubborn person when she wanted to be, and so he wondered if helping her was going to be like pulling teeth. If that became the case, he planned to back off though, at least for a little while... for the sake of unit cohesion. He hoped that it wouldn't come to that, "We are all part of thisss Divisssion right, and our purpossse is to help each other carry any extra weight. If that extra weight is kept bottled up inssside though, then how can anyone help anyone. Thingsss that are kept bottled up are better let out in ssslow manner... don't you agree Rukia-sssan."
He was still giving her that knowing smile, to counter the look of ignorance on her face. The Captain had his way of talking around the subject, but letting you know that he meant 'you'... and when he was being pleasant like he was now. It was harder to get mad at him, sense he was only trying to be helpful, without putting to much pressure on Rukia. He also didn't directly accuse her of having a problem, but gave away the fact that he knew something was wrong. This wasn't a moment that he wanted his Vice-Captain to feel like she was being insulted. It was also why he was relieved to see that he had made the right call when it came to bringing in some food so that Rukia would have something to eat, and tea to drink while they talked. The amostsphere of the room seemed to relax in an almost noticeable manner. Which was a good thing considering the topic... in fact it was exactly the reaction that he had been hoping for in order to try and peel back the layers, and figure out what was wrong with Rukia... if anything.
Taking small sips of his tea the Captain lounged back on the couch, pondering over the question carefully. His words seemed a bit far off, as though he was thinking while saying them, but he looked at Rukia with that comforting smile while talking, "Your right Rukia-sssan... it could very well be anything of those things. If it wasss though, I don't think we would be having thisss coversssation." He took sips of tea every now and then, "You are one of thossse people who hold their emotionsss on a tight leash, and asss you said before know how to let off sssteam normally. Also as hard asss you work I doubt you wouldn't have jussst told me about your idea, or handled it yourssself. The reassson that I asssk, if something isss on your mind is because you don't seem like yourssself. Asss though sssomthing is building, and really it hasss no where to go.... Ssso do you want to tell me what is on your mind. " The Captain's words faded off, as he looked down at his cup hoping that he had not made a complete fool out of himself, as he looked back at Rukia... doing his best to not let his expression betray his thoughts.

rukia kuchiki ~Rukia had the good sense to look away, when she noticed the look he gave her, saying he didn't believe her little fib. Biting on her bottom lip, guessing that to try and keep it a secret from her own Captain wouldn't work well. Just another person to add to the list, of those who read her like a book. Nodding her head softly at his words, before sighing and gripping the cup in her hands. Staring down at it a moment.~"Sorry." ~It came out a soft whisper, but she kept her head from looking up, wondering what if anything to say. Glancing at the tray before them, leaning to pick of a grape piece and popped it into her mouth.
She did have that temper, that stubborn streak and was mostly using the later or trying to. The temper, well why she could easily go off, the idea of getting into some serious trouble was in the forefront of her mind. Not to mention, the disappointment her brother would have for her not having control, and lashing out at a superior. Something he knew she was capable of doing. All her thoughts mixed as she tried to think of reasonable solutions, that didn't get her into some deep trouble.
Hearing him, she slowly looked up eyes meeting his own and felt a little bad now. Turning her head away, since he had a valid point, even if she didn't want to admit it right now. They were a division, a unit, and at times family, so she should be able to trust him enough to talk. It was just Rukia, she was stubborn and didn't like asking for help. Like she was being putting a burden on others she couldn't handle.~ "Your right. We are a division, a unit and we should help one another. It's just...I don't like burdening others with my problems, I feel bad or like I'm using the person." ~Still looking over at him, sucking some on the grape candy in her mouth, before she took a sip of her tea. It was after some time of silence, he spoke again and she knew her feeble excuses didn't work once again.
Tensing some, when he continued and pretty much had hit the nail on the head. So to speak. The man was good at figuring people out, or maybe she just wasn't as good as she thought, with hiding her feelings and such. Pursing her lips, as if to speak, but than just closing them once more and looking at her cup. It was like this war going on in her mind. One side agreed she should ask for help, the other said she wasn't that type of person. It was nerve-wracking honestly. Remembering something her brother and Ichigo both had said awhile back. 'Sometimes it takes a strong person to admit they need help. Even if they don't always wish to ask for it.'~ "I..it's just....uggg DAMN IT!!!" ~Slightly slamming the cup down, not enough to break it though. Standing up, she started pacing, another of her little habits. More or less frustrated with herself than her Captain, but was sure he would take the blame.~

He knew that he had hit the nail on the head when Rukia was no longer able to look him in the eye. The way she looked down at her cup was almost like that of a guilty child. Kurosawa’s eyebrow rose though when she apologized. Now that wasn’t right, especially since she had nothing to be sorry for… he understood her reluctance to seek help, but there was no reason to apologize over, “Rukia-sssan you have nothing to be sssorry for. I underssstand what it isss to feel that need to hide thingsss, it is perfectly alright.” Even he himself was guilty of the same thing, but his own problems were much more complex and deep rooted. Ryou was also a Captain and that meant didn’t have time to try and do anything about them, except what In’ei could do for him. Now the knowledge of his Lieutenant’s problem would be added on to that… as a Captain he to always show strength for his subordinates. The man was also glad he had yet to trigger that bit of temper that he knew Rukia sometimes had. It was refreshing at the right time, to have someone scold him and set him back focused on the right track… yet now… it was just not the time he wanted to see it.
When Rukia finally looked up at him Ryou’s gaze meet her own, with a soft comforting smile. Right now the Captain had dropped all pretenses of childlike silliness. His more mature side was showing through in spades. The man realized that he was probably hitting the mark, by the way she reacted. If not that them maybe at least he was making some progress in taking down that wall which Rukia always kept up around herself. The Captain even considered getting her to admit the reason that she held back to be a small victory. Despite the fact that he found it to be a common one, usually just getting the person to admit that was why they held back got the ball rolling. Watching the Lieutenant eat her candy he took advantage of the silence to add, “Rukia-sssan you know that helping each other isss never a burden, essspecially between squad-matesss. In fact it isss what were sssupposed to do. When one of your fellow Division membersss goesss down, you picks them up.” Pausing for a second he tried to think of how he could really build on that… a silly metaphor that went nowhere would be no good. It was her last sentence though that gave him the idea, “You are not ussseing anybody Rukia-san. People want to help you, essspecially thossse who care about you.”
With those words a smile crossed his face, “Bessside, you know better than anyone elsse that if I thought your problemsss was a burden, or I thought I wasss being used… I wouldn’t be here, trying to help you. It’s becaussse I care about you Rukia-sssan.” He hoped that those words did not come in a bad way. The kind tone and nature with which he spoke them, made this hard, but it was possible. This was why for a moment after the other Shinigami slammed her cup down; Kurosawa began to wonder if he had screwed up. The man was very careful to make sure to hide it under his well-practiced poker face, as though her sudden outburst had not really bothered him. It was just the same pleasant smile that had been there before. Ryou half expected her to leave the room, but that was not what happened. No instead she just started pacing… and he began to wonder, if withier or not he had failed after all. So he decided to gently push at it some more, just to see where it would go. Putting his legs up indian style on the couch, Ryou rested his elbows on his knees and his chin in his before leaning forward, “It’sss ok Rukia-sssan, just calm down. Take a few deep breathsss and finisssh your sssentance. Take all the time that you need.”

rukia kuchiki ~It wasn't clear to Rukia yet, if her Captain had picked up on her issues, or if she perhaps lucked out and fooled him. Not that she was as good as she believed. Sighing softly, when he finally spoke before clinching her cup a little more, letting her eyes close. Biting on her lip a little, but slightly relieved she didn't really have to apologize. Nodding for now only to this and wondering what now. She did take notice he was not as childish with his behavior, almost relieved. Rukia just didn't want even funny around her at the moment, see the smile and taking a little more comfort in it.
For a short time, she sat sipping the tea silently, but mostly thinking about things. Till he spoke once more, Rukia lifting her head and looking to her commander, nodding to his words. Since they were true and having an idea where he was going with this. Dropping her head again, as he continued about her not using anyone. Wondering if maybe, just maybe, she should try and give people more of a chance. Pursing her lips as he spoke about not being here if she had, indeed, been merely using him.~"I know. Your right, it's just I'm use to doing things myself without asking. To prove I can handle things, without that need to ask for help." ~Rukia knew some...not all, but some looked at asking for help as a weakness. She didn't want to be seen as weak by anyone, so it was why she worked so hard, barely complaining, and just pushing herself more than anything.
When she freaked out, she half expected him to just take off. So imagine her surprise when his voice reached her ears and she stopped, looking back over at him. Her fists still clinched, knuckles turning white from just how tight she held them. Taking in some shallow breaths to calm down, no she hadn't gotten too pissed, but who knows when she would again.~ "It's just I don't know what to even tell Ryou-sama." ~Now giving a sure sign she wasn't completely thinking straight, since she never referred to him as anything but Captain. Least of all his first name in such a manner, dropping her head again and looking away for the moment. No she didn't even realize what she had called him, to worried about trying to calm down.~ "I don't even know. How can I possible ask for help when I don't even know what 'this' is?"
