Ichigo Lazuli | [atrb=style, width: 100px; padding-top: 10px;][atrb=valign,top] SQUAD ELEVEN CAPTAIN | [atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] Ichigo grimaced as she walked through the Seiretei, silently fuming. When she had been ordered to make the delivery to Byakuya's office, she had immediately declined. It was just the man trying to get her to be more friendly with her fellow Captains. However, Ichigo didn't care. As long as they could fight together on some sort of wavelength and not royally fuck each other over, then why did she need to be friendly with them? Ichigo would just prefer to be on the front line herself, anyways. There was much serenity to be had within the border of solitude.
However much she didn't like it, this delivery did have some benefits. She had a reason to blow off other people that wanted to hang around her. She didn't feel like going to a bar with the rest of her Squad, nor did she want to go out to a fancy dinner. Ichigo was not one to say no, however. She always needed a solid reason for everything she did. So... Maybe she was using the Squad Six Captain for less than reputable purposes. If it would get her out of going to some bar, and please the old man at the same time, then it was a win-win. Besides, She heard that the man was rather calm and collected, but not so much so that he appeared laid back. Other than that, she knew nothing about him. Well, there was that spat with the Substitute Shinigami by her name... She could ask about that, she supposed. If Ichigo was going to make friends with someone, might as well go the whole nine yards.
She stopped outside his door and sighed. She was really going to willingly contact another, wasn't she? shaking her head, she knocked twice lightly and spoke. "Captain Kuchiki? The Head Captain wished for me to deliver this letter to you... Are you in?" From her voice, if Byakuya had ever paid attention at meetings during one of the rare times she actually spoke, he would be able to identify her. However, given she was mostly alone and wasn't surrounded by thirteen other people, her voice would sound stronger and more confident. Her clothing was particularly rigid today, and her Captain's Haori was tied around her, given that she never wore a black haori underneath it. Her Captain's Haori was tattered at the ends, and her hair was back in a battle ponytail style.

All had been well this morning, despite having an absent lieutenant, but his third seat was doing a good enough job picking up the slack, perhaps that was because she seemed to be burying herself in work. He made a note to attempt to ask his daughter what was wrong, but given she never seemed willing to speak,at least not to him for whatever reason, that task would prove difficult.
Right now he was working on some paperwork, he had just finished giving out the daily list of chores for the unseated officers and informing Koharu of the training plan for the day. All in all things were quiet, peaceful, exactly how he favored things to be, no one had yet to disturb him and this meant he was able to focus solely on the neat stacks of paper in front of him.
There had been no distractions..Until he heard a knock. Before even hearing the voice he sighed gently, the morning had been almost perfect up till just this moment, wondering who was bothering him and for what reason. Then came the voice, the Captain of Squad Eleven, delivering a letter? Since when did Yamamoto ask Captains to do the work he would have used an unseated officer for?
"Come in."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][cs=2] I only need myself to survive... Ichigo Lazuli | [atrb=style, width: 100px; padding-top: 10px;][atrb=valign,top] SQUAD ELEVEN CAPTAIN | [atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] Okay... He asked for her to come in rather calmly, so that was a good sign. She closed her eyes and reached for the handle, only to hesitate. Wait... Maybe... Maybe him and the Head Captain both got together on this, and that was why he was being so calm! Yeah, that had to be it. Why else would this be so perfectly set up? Honestly, did Yamamoto think her a fool? She had half a mind to yell at the old man for placing her in such a situation. How dare he pull her from her training rituals just to get her to talk to others? What was her social life to him, anyways?
She was still in her thoughts before she realized she had opened the door and entered the room. She quickly snapped out of her thoughts and looked to Byakuya, gulping. Oh, but he looked so dangerous to her at that moment. She looked at him like a mouse looks to a cat just above it. She eventually shook her head and sighed, her blood red eyes looking the man up and down, sizing him up as if he were an opponent.
"Alright, here's the deal. The Head Captain wanted me to give this to you because he wanted to get me to talk to the other Captains. Believe me, if it was up to me, I would have left you alone and to your own business..." She places the letter on the table, which was pretty much a confirmation of what she had just said, only in his own words. Ichigo crossed her arms and looked to him with an odd determination. It was painfully obvious that it was straining her to remain where she was.
"So... Since it's an order..." Ichigo thought long and hard, sighing eventually. May as well push out her only idea. "You fought that Kurosaki kid, right? What is he like in battle?" Ichigo near-immediately mentally facepalmed, thinking that sounded like a stereotypical Squad Eleven thing to ask.

He tore his eyes away from his paperwork to look over at the one who just entered his domain, and almost as quickly as he had glanced at her they were on the letter he placed on his desk before returning to his paperwork, the reason for the letter seemed not important to Byakuya considering the explanation she had given him and there for he decided it didn’t warrant his full attention. He would have spoken his words of parting since it was obvious she didn’t want to be here, but then he heard her question. If it had been any other person he would have wondered why it was even asked, but since this was the captain of the most brutal squad in the Soul Society, the reason was obvious.
”Is the reason why you are asking me specifically only because you are here speaking to me? Or is it because you want my actual opinion on the matter? Because if all you want is a basic description of his fighting capabilities you can ask someone else, I am not the only person in the Seireitei who has faced him.” Byakuya replied in a tone that was of irritation about being interrupted, and by the captain of his least favorite Squad in the Seireitei no less, all per the request of the Head Captain. Sending her to him might have been a mistake, not only did he hate the brutes who called themselves warriors, but he hated being disturbed during work hours for trivial matters such as this. He could only hope that things either get interesting enough to force his full attention or that she would leave soon.
The entire time he spoke he did not look away from his work nor stop the pen against the paper, perhaps a sign that he did not feel this conversation worth his time, or maybe a way to silently tell her he was busy and wished to continue his work. It could be seen either way or as both really, but Byakuya assumed he would think him an ass and become irritated herself, as he always pegged the captains of that division as hot heads who would lose their temper if the breeze blew the wrong way.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][cs=2] I only need myself to survive... Ichigo Lazuli | [atrb=style, width: 100px; padding-top: 10px;][atrb=valign,top] SQUAD ELEVEN CAPTAIN | [atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] That response angered her internally as her fear of her question was pretty much dead-on. He thought her to be a brain-dead killing machine, like the previous ones that came before her. She slowly closed her eyes, not immediately responding. Of course, she'd asked because she had no idea how to approach the man, not because she actually wanted to know how he fought. Hell, if she wanted that, she'd find the boy himself and fight him herself, not get someone's word on it. Byakuya was right on one thing, however. She was angered by the response, but not for the reason he probably thought. She wasn't mad at him in the slightest, but rather, herself for her distrust of others, particularly Shinigami.
'You see? All you are for them is a mindless sellsword. Nothing more, girl...' Jigoku's voice rang out in her head, further pushing her into the solution of running from this man. Yamamoto may have ordered it, but there was really no point to continuing. Well, there was one point. Despite the fact that Ichigo could not care less what she thought about the man, she couldn't have him believing her to be some sort of meathead that only cared about fighting.
"Listen. I only asked that because that's the only thing I know about you, okay? I know nothing about you, and I asked the first thing that came to mind. If I had asked you about your paperwork, would you have had a nicer response?" She crossed her arms, surprisingly keeping quite a strong hold on her anger at herself. She eventually sighs softly and continues. "Sorry, okay? I don't know how to talk to people without sounding like an idiot. Can't you just work with me a little bit on this one? If I really cared about how the kid fought, I would just go find him and fight him myself."
