quote or lyrics here; not too long WEAPONS:Kunai - There is nothing notable about the weapon other than is always present on Masato's person.
ZANPAKUTO:name: Seisoku Yami - [Living Darkness] sealed form: Seisoku Yami typically takes the appears as a black katana with a hilt wrapped in white cord. When Masato seeks to conceal it from the world in plain sight he opts to hide Seisoku Yami in the shaft of a parasol.
spirit: In shikai Seisoku Yami takes the appearance of a black armored humanoid creature with steel wings protruding from its back. It stands roughly six feet tall. The armor the creature wears has a ornate wing motif. the helmet of said armor even features wings on the side and slit openings in which Seisoku Yami's glowing red eyes pierce through. The creature's massive wings fold back neatly into its back
In bankai, Oukoku no Seisoku Yami appears completely different than its shikai form. Its a massive demonic creature made of shadows. It has large horns protruding form its head and a fearsome visage complete with seven large round red eyes and a sharp toothy maw. The creature is roughly twelve feet tall and has three pairs of wings. His hands and feet are clawed and it has a spiked tail.
Personality: Cold, brooding and melancholy Seisoku Yami is a dark yet feircely loyal beast. Its also very deceptive, in fact it holds back as much information it can from Masato. The creature is tyically seen perched upon a spire or balcony or otherwise spotted gliding through the skies of its inner world. The creature knows that it is an intimidating one and likes to test this fact with Masato. It often attacks him or flexes its muscles for a reaction.
While it likes to make attempts to bully Masato it does care for its master and openly lends its strength to him when asked. The spirit has a weakness for vanity and loves to be out in the open. It hates when Masato conceals it within a parasol and always berates him for doing so. Seisoku Yami loves to hide in darkness. Seisoku Yami also likes to talk with Masato and often attempts to be a voice of reason when he's lost his mind.
inner world: The world of Seisoku Yami is one of darkness. The sky is pitch black save for the moon. The moon's light fall directly upon a massive victorian castle of which Seisoku Yami can always been seen perched upon or flying about. leafless trees flank both sides of this massive castle and a single path of gravel extends from the castles's main door out into a dark abyss of shadow.
Within the castle the floors are black marble and the walls are cold brick. The castle is lit by candlelight. The castle possesses many large empty rooms with the centerpiece of the gloomy estate being the throneroom. The ceiling of the throne room has a hole in it which Seisoku Yami uses as an entrance or exit. The throne room is much like the rest of the world; dimly lit and massive. The throne itself is made of black marble with red velvet serving as the cushion.
SHIKAI:release command: Jousei - Proliferate
description: After the kaigo is stated Seisoku Yami transforms before the eyes of those able to witness. The katana melts into a black liquid that covers Masato's right hand, wrist and forearm. The liquid then solidifies and takes the shape of Seisoku Yami's Shikai.
In Shikai, Seisoku Yami takes the appearance of a spiked gauntlet. The weapon has an ornate design which features a feathers as the motif. In addition to the engraved feather design, the gauntlet possesses spikes on each side that are shapes like wings and are sharp at the tips. Outside of shadow manipulation the gauntlet itself is still a formidable weapon for Hakuda combat. It can also serve as a defensive weapon in addition to its obvious basic offensive capability
type: Kido Based - Shadow Manipulation
techniques: Name: Seibatsu no Kuragari - Subjucation of Darkness Type: Offensive Cooldown: One post Cost: Low Range: Short - Medium (1 meter - 50 meters) Description:This ability activates upon the activation of shikai. With this ability Masato can animate any shadow within Seisoku Yami's area of affect. This allows him to create weapons, defenses and other constructs of preexisting shadow. This is done by touching the shadow with Seisoku Yami's gauntlet. Once the gauntlet makes contact with a shadow Masato is free to use it as he wishes. He can also absorb a shadow into the gauntlet for later use, which are maintained for one post..
It should be noted that Masato has greater control over shadows and can create more intricate objects when he's making physical contact with a shadow. When using absorbed shadows his constructs and other items are weaker. His zanpakuto can only contain one mass of shadow at a time. However the rate in which the shadow is used depends on the ability it is used on.
Name: Hei no Garandou - Wall of the Void Type: Defensive Cooldown: One post Cost: Medium Range: Short (0 - 10 meters) Description:This ability Allows Masato to draw shadows into the shape of a wall which can serve as a defensive barrier from attack or to simply obscure an opponents vision. To do this Masato has to place his right hand upon a shadow and reshape it into the desired shape. This ability can be done without touching a shadow if Masato absorbs a shadow into the gauntlet beforehand. The wall is roughly 2-3 meters wide and 1.8 meters (5 feet, 10 inches, Masato's height) tall. Should Masato be in direct contact with said shadow. If using an absorbed shadow he can make a meter wide wall. The height of these walls is retained even with absorbed shadow however they are much weaker as the way is stretched in favor of surface area rather than thickness and durability. The walls last for the duration of one post.
Name: Kagebuki - Shadow Weapon Type: Offensive Cooldown: Three posts Cost: Medium Range: short (0 - 3 meters) Description: Much like all of Seisoku Yami's abilities this one requires that the gauntlet touches a shadow in order for it to work. However in contrast to the other abilties this one allows Masato to actually pick up a shadow and shape it into a weapon (commonly a katana) and use it in battle. All weapons created by Kagebuki are the average size they would be normally (katanas are the size of katanas, etc) This can also be accomplished with absorbed shadow. So long as he holds the shadow in his hands he may manipulate the shadows at will. He can create up to two weapons at once. These weapons can be sustained for three posts.
BANKAI:
name: Oukoku no Seisoku Yami - [Kingdom of Living Darkness]
description: While uttering the release phrase for Oukoku no Seisoku Yami, Masato punches the ground with his right hand. Once contact is made with the ground the gauntlet transforms into a black liquid once again and splashes onto the ground. The liquid grows and spreads out over the floor around Masato before it erupts from the ground as if someone cannon balled into the black puddle. This black mass of liquid obstructs the view of those that may be watching untill the liquid falls back to the ground. at this point the figure of Masato can be made out as his bankai is formed creating its armor. Any liquid remaining is absorbed back into Masato's armor completing his bankai.
The appearance of Oukoku no Seisoku Yami is that of an extremely elaborate suit of onyx colored armor complete with multiple sets of wings on the back, arms and legs of the armor The armor appears and acts as steel but is actually made of shadows.
type: Kido Based - Shadow Manipulation
stat upgrades: which stats increase in bankai and by how much? Only fill this out after you have been given your class/level.
techniques: Name: Shousho no Kageouja - Decree of the Shadow King Type: Supplementary Cooldown: Continous use through Bankai Cost: High Range: Short - Long (0 - 100 meters) Description: This ability is a much more effective and powerful version of Seibatsu no Kuragari. In Bankai, Masato no longer needs to make use of preexisting shadows to make use of them for battle. He can create and manipulate his own shadows with his own reiatsu.
Oukoku no Seisoku Yami's current ability to create and manipulate shadows is always on display for both its user and his enemy to gauge. The multiple masses of wings are actually representations of Oukoku no Seisoku Yami's capability to create and manipulate shadows of its own will.
In regards to the storage of shadows this is displayed by the number of wings present on the back of the armor of Oukoku no Seisoku Yami. While decorative they are essentially reiryoku gauges. With these wings, Masato is able to create his own shadows and work independent of the area around him. At maximum Oukoku no Seisoku Yami possesses six large wings. Each wing contains a mass of shadow that covers a 16 meter radius. As Masato's reiatsu weakens and through over exertion; the number of wings lowers.
Oukoku no Seisoku Yami can only replenish its shadow reserves and thus the wings one way; which is Masato's own replenishment of reiryoku via rest or reishi transfer.
Finally it should be noted that while the six back wings are the ones that are crucial to the bankai, Masato exploits the fact that the armor possess wings practically all over the armor. This allows him to deceive opponents in case one starts to catch on to this crucial mechanic of his bankai.
Name: Teiza no Karagari - Imperial Throne of Darkness Type: Defensive Cooldown: Three Posts (per Wing) Cost: High Range: Short - Long (0 - 100 meters) Description:The most dangerous ability is the Imperial Throne of Darkness. The ability works with the surface area of Masato's own shadow. This ability allows Masato to make use of his own shadow to create encampments of darkness. Should he choose to, Masato can expand his shadow to cover a radius of 16 meters per wing used to expand it to create a enclosed box of darkness. At the maximum Masato can use all of his wings Masato can expand his shadow's surface area to 100 meters at maximum. The expansion of his shadow's surface area allows him to extend the overall range and magnitude in which he can section off an area with a box of darkness. The ability lasts so long as Masato himself is casting a shadow. So long as he has his own shadow Teiza no Karagrai is active. However expanding his shadow does tax his reiryoku. The shadow expansion lasts for one post per wing. However Masato must wait two posts per wing before attempting to expand his shadow once again due to the abilities exhaustive nature.
Name: Karagari no Tsurugi - Longsword of Darkness Type: Offensive Cooldown: Two posts Cost: Low Range: Short (0 - 3 meters) Description:An upgraded form of Kagebuki allows Masato to forge weapons from shadow. These weapons can come from preexisting shadow or from Oukoku no Seisoku Yami itself. These weapons are contain strength equivalent to Masato's reiryoku which allows him to actively battle with the weapons so long as he has he strength to do so. The shape of the weapons are merely limited by Masato's imagination but are rarely take forms aside from katana, chains, axes, hammers and spears. As with the shikai version theses weapons are the average size one expects these weapons to be. Masato can create at maximum two of any given weapon type or a combination of them.
Name: Kagetou - Shadow Servants Type: Offensive Cooldown: Four Posts Cost: medium Range: Short - Long (0 - 100 meters) Description: With this ability Masato can create independent thinking and acting clones of himself out of the shadows by expelling a black liquid from his body which then reforms as a clone of himself. These clones are able to attack just as Masato himself can. He can only create as many clones as his reishi allows which is at maximum two (one per three wings). Despite the clones being made of shadows they cannot be transformed by Masato to be used for his zanpakuto's other abilities. Only after the clone is destroyed can Masato re-purpose the shadow.
The clone is especially weak in that one blow is enough to destroy it however in doing so, all shadow that was used to create the clone is once again released on to the battlefield in the form of a black outline of shadow. As the shadow wasn't destroyed Masato can re-absorb the shadow to replenish his reserves. Since the clones are now destroyed when they are hit Masato can reuse their shadow masses for use with his Karagari no Tsurugi. However their strength is notable weaker (they are half as strong as a fully forged Karagari no Tsurugi) as they are made of recycled shadows.
QUOTE OR LYRICS HERE; NOT TOO LONG HISTORY: Masato Arata Kanada was born into the Soul Society five hundred and sixteen years ago to the shinigami Katashi Akio Kanada. Masato was Katashi's first born child an donly son. His early life was met with no earth shattering events aside from the loss of his mother at the age of five. However it wasn't long before Katashi filled the void left by Masato's mother. Soon a new woman entered Masato's life whom he reluctantly called mommy. Shortly after the pair was married Masato's half sister Chiasa was born. Though he was jealous of his younger sister he grew to love her in time as well as her mother. He did however grow to resent his father as the man was hardly ever around. His duties as a shinigami kept him busy. Their mother always explained that their father was busy with work, however Masato always felt as though his father was purposely staying away.
As Masato and Chiasa grew older their mother grew ill and Masato took it upon himself to take care of thing sat home while his father was away tending to his shinigami life. At the age of fourteen Masato received his fathers last words from a hell butterfly. The message urged Masato to take care of his mother and sister no matter what. His father told his son that he was proud of him for stepping up in his father's stead and leading the house. He regretted being unable to watch his son grown in the the man he would become.
The news was heartbreaking for the entire family. in fact it had made their mother's condition worsen. Fearing that he would lose his mother Masato sought out all opportunities to provide for his family. Masato did everything from work as a waiter to stealing. He did what he could and when his sister was old enough she joined Masato in whatever he was involved in. At the age of seventeen Masato was discovered by a shinigami as he was fleeing a group of men whom he had stolen money from. He was caught by the shinigami whom had asked Masato why he had stolen the money. When he replied that it was because he and his sister were practically starving the shinigami was taken aback. He revealed to Masato that hunger was a sign of a being with high reiatsu.
He gave Masato a proposition, if he wanted to provide for his family he should attempt to enroll into the shinigami academy. Masato was wary of this remembering how it kept his father away. However he was left with no choice as he didn't want to force his family to starve. Despite the fear of becoming his father, Masato took the shinigami placement exam and passed much to his surprise. He had passed with high marks with many noting that Masato didn't merely have strong reiatsu but a sharp mind as well.
Masato relayed the news to Chiasa whom was happy as was his mother. With positive reinforcement from his family Masato went on to join the Shinigami Academy. Due to his high marks on the exam he was placed in the advanced curriculum. He continued to rise to prominece within the Academy as he quickly grasped the curriculum. Masato was later able to graduate from the academy in two years which was pretty fast considering the entire program took six years. Masato returned home just in time to learn that his mother's health had reached its worst state and that it was time to let her go. Resigned to the idea that his mother was dying Masato started to plan for Chiasa's future. He figured since they were siblings there was a chance that she would be able to become a shinigami like him. Even as just a unseated shinigami he could sense some semblance of spiritual pressure in his half-sister. He ran the idea by her and she agreed. A few days later Masato lost his mother for the second time in his life leaving him with only one family member, Chiasa.
With their mother buried Masato continued on with his shinigami career but checked in on Chiasa at every turn. Masato was placed into the Second Division do to his speed, smarts and preference for hakuda combat over zanjutsu. Durig his early days in Nibantai Masato would hear of his sister's passing of the entrance exam. While she didn't score as high as he did she was still that much closer to becoming a shinigami. Masato slowly rose through the ranks of the second division over the course of a decade. He focused mainly on the trades of his divison, Hoho and Hakuda. He wanted to be just as fast and as skilled as the Captain of his division, Asano Setsuko. Masato looked up to Setsuko and even had a crush on her. The blonde woman also known as the "Pale Siren" was a fearless fighter.
Before long Masto became wrapped up in his training and began to visit Chiasa less and less. He would hear of her accomplishments every now and then such as her admission into the third division and praise her when he could but he remained focused on honing his shunpo to a level that was typical of his division. He refused to be slower than the rest of his fellow shinigami. He trained to perfect this skill for thirty years While he didn't care to specialize in zanjutsu didn't neglect it either. He would train to use his zanpakuto but he never cared much for it until he heard of his younger sister attaining shikai. Shikai was a skill few shinigami would attain. Masato had only known a handful of people that could use it, his captain included. To hear that she had learned shikai before him in a shorter time than he had was humiliating. In addition to this he had learned that she was being transferred to the eleventh division. The Eleventh Division was the home of the most violent and bloodthirsty of shinigami. Why was his little sister placed there? For a while Masato refused to believe it.
Then he saw her walking alongside the Kenpach iof the time with a lieutenant's badge wrapped proudly around her arm. Masato himself was still just a seated officer yet his sister was a Lieutenant. What kind of power did that girl have that he didn't. Jealousy quickly began to brew within Masato. Jealousy lead to a new found inspiration to become better than he was. He put an increased focus on mastering his zanpakuto. Within five years Masato had now learned the name of his sword, Seisoku Yami.
Meeting the spirit of his zanpakuto was a shocking experience but it earned him a promotion to third seat. Masato wasn't happy yet as he wanted to attain a higher position. Since his sister beat him to the rank of Lieutenant, he vowed to become Captain before her. He encountered his sister on occasion as their divisions crossed paths. Seeing her grown up had always surprised him. In seeing his sister his jealousy faded and his vendetta became more of a sibling rivalry.
With the pair both vying to become captains of their respective divisions they were constantly pushing themselves. Masato continued to strengthen his bond with Seisoku Yami and honed his other shingami skills. due to his great record within the second division Masato was placed into the Onimitsukido and trained to be a master assassin like other members of the organization. For one hundred years Masato spent his life honing his skills and becoming a hardened killer. He rarely saw anyone outside of his fellow assassins. He learned to deceive and manipulate. With the aid of Seisoku Yami, Masato learned to become one with darkness. It was during this time that Masato had gained renown as Kageyose (Shadowmancer). After proving his slills Masato was named head of the onimitsukido. he would hold this position for one hundred years before learning of the resignation of Asano Setsuko. With her position now vacant Masato as well as many other opted to take the Captain proficiency test.
Masato was unable to take the test as he had not yet attained bankai. Masato decided to comfortable wait and dedicated his time to learn bankai. He maintained his position as Corps Commander of Onimitsukido and would recruit many shinigami and train them to become formidable fighters and assassins. Over the course of eighty years Masato trained to learn bankai and took on multiple attempts to dethrone him from his position as Corp Commander. In those eighty years Masato maintained his position thanks to his overwhelming speed and experience. MAsato's reign as Corp Commander would be among the longest ever known. At the age of two hundred and fifty seven years old Masato had attained bankai. He spent another twenty years to master his bankai. After feeling comfortable enough to use bankai without difficulty Masato openly challenged the current captain of the 2nd Division. The pair engaged in battle and Masato emerged victorious as the newly made Captain of 2nd Division.
Masato hadreunited with his sister after his long absence from her life. She berated him for his long departure but forgave him. He apologized despite knowing she would never hold it against him. Masato asked why Chiasa hadn't become captain herself yet. She responded that she had attempted to defeated the current Kenpachi multiple times but failed to do so. Now the head of the Second Division and the Onimitsukido Masato was in charge of many top secret operations.
RP SAMPLE: Years ago a city stood here. There were towering buildings, moving traffic, trees, birds. This place once had a pulse that was all its own. Now the pulse was long gone. The people that once made the city come alive were all gone. Buildings reduced to rubble, and tree torn to almost nothing. The city of Karakura was a shadow of its former self. Here was where Kanada Masato called home. This wasteland resonated with him on many levels. He too was once a man of high status and pride.
However just like Karakura we was cast aside and left for dead. The Seireitei abandoned him, betrayed him all in the name of holding up some false sense of self righteousness. They feared his newfound power which in honesty was gained purely by accident. True, Masato had commited possibly the worst crime known to the Soul Society, but it was for a purpose. The beings known as Arrancar were a threat, Masato had known this. However in their ignorance he was cast out and the Seireitei would pay drastically for not heeding his warnings. He had heard of the Arrancar and their ransacking of the Soul Society.
They leveled the entire Soul Soceity and merely left. The news was shocking and humiliatiing. If they had've embraced masato and his power he probably could have helped to ensure that they weren't utterly embarrased. However that ship has long sailed. Masato could care less about the seireitei and its current state. Now he was planning to be the instrument of its destruction. He longed to to do the Seireitei was was done to Karakura. To reduce it to piles of ash and rubble and leave it to be forgotten years later.
However for such a plan to work Masato would need an army. He couldn't waltz into the Seireitei even with his skills as the former captain of the 2nd division. Masato needed to make allies with his once sworn enemies. He just needed to encounter one. Masato sat upon the throne of was once a shrine. The throne belonged to some spirit that the people of karakura worshipped. Now Masato was god of this land and its king. He planned to build the city into a hub for his activities. For now the shrine was good enough with a few holes punched through for light. Masato sat upon his through resting his head upon his right hand, pondering.
