For anyone who actually reads this, it's just Jace having a dream. And it's a fucked up one like usual. Most of it won't make much sense. Like always, the skies were a stark grey. Barely any light reached through the clouds; there was just enough to indicate that this place had something similar to a sun. But it was almost always in hiding. But Jace had never seen it. Maybe if he jumped high enough, he could pierce those clouds. What would he see then? How did he even know any of this? Something about it was suspicious... That's right, he had powers. He had no idea where he had gotten them. In fact, who the hell was he? Jace looked down, seeing that he was wearing plain black pants and a similarly coloured t-shirt. His skin was pale, too. Somehow, it felt right. Was he himself this time? What did that even mean? Back to the powers. He hadn't used them since waking up for what he could only guess was the first time. But he somehow knew. He could run extremely fast, and if he got enough momentum and jumped, he could also fly. Even now, he had an overwhelming urge to do just that. He would have to find a better place to do that, though. For some reason, he was in a forest. The orange leaves littering the ground and the bare branches that went off for what seemed like an eternity cued him into the fact that it was Autumn. How did he know what that was? Oh well. Jace had meant to walk through the forest; after all, he didn't want to use his speed and end up flying into a tree. But just as he had thought to take his first step, the air around him shimmered. Suddenly, he was in a town. It looked somewhat familiar, if not a little run-down. Had he lived in a place like this before? Was it something to do with past lives? Who cared? He could see someone at the end of the road. He was only about ten metres away from the person, but he couldn't discern their identity. It was like he was seeing them, but he wasn't at the same time. He had no idea what they looked like, even though he was staring at them. And yet, he knew this faceless person. He knew that this person was actually a girl around his age. She was a good friend of his. And even though he couldn't really see her, he knew that she was smiling at him. Without saying anything, Jace started to walk over to his friend, waving.

Jace was really happy to see his friend. And by the looks of it, she was happy to see him. They had known each other for a long time, after all. He could remember fighting alongside her... wait, what? When had he ever fought? Didn't he just start existing back in the forest? How the hell had he gotten to this place? Seeing his puzzled expression, the faceless girl stopped smiling. That wasn't nearly as impossible as it sounded. Things didn't need to make sense in this place. Even though he had apparently only been here for a few minutes, he knew this and a lot more. And he felt like he had existed here for years, lifetimes even, but only for brief periods. It was more than a bit confusing, but Jace figured that he had better go with the flow. He had no other choice, really. There was a complete lack of control. Even now, he wanted to go and fly. But something was keeping him here with his enigmatic friend. Why wouldn't he rather be around here. Wasn't he the type of guy who thrived off of the company of friends? He felt like he might have been. So why did he feel so uneasy around her? Jace still hadn't said anything, even though he felt like he was still smiling. Suddenly, he had a flash. He had remembered something of how his friend looked. She had very long dark blue hair. The colour was close to his own, actually. Her face was still unclear, though. Back in reality - if this could really be called that - his friend's form was still a shapeless mass. Bewildered by this, he shook his head and forced himself to turn his attention back to her "There's something coming. You need to hide," a melancholy, bell-like voice rang out. She sounded a lot more depressed than she looked. Had he made her sad? He barely considered the possibility. There were more important matters to attend with. They were coming after all. Who were 'they'? Jace felt like he knew why he needed to hide. He couldn't remember the reason, but he knew it all the same. Still not having said a word since the beginning of his existence, he nodded and followed after the girl who had begun to walk towards a small house that was to the right of them. Oddly enough, the light source that had been completely covered before now shone brighter, almost breaking through the clouds. Faint yellow light shone down on the dreary streets. And yet, Jace suddenly felt more terrified than he ever had before. This feeling of being afraid... he really didn't like it. "We need to hurry."

The sky exploded. Jace had just been about to follow his friend into the house when the light in the sky suddenly brightened, turning orange. And then something above the clouds blew up, and black smoke covered everything. The earth between himself and the doorstep fell away abruptly, the channel instantaneously filling up with water. Jace staggered and fell, landing face-down on the piece of land underneath him while the house and his friend floated away. Now, everything aside from Jace’s tiny island and the house was water. It was like they were floating on an ocean. But he barely noticed. He reached out for the house in the distance with his right hand, even though there was no way he’d reach it like that. He could still see the open door, but she wasn’t there. His friend was gone. For some reason, he felt like she wasn’t there at all. But he needed to know for sure. Jace abandoned his piece of land and slithered into the churning waters. His island disappeared right after. There was no going back now. It was surprisingly easy to swim, even though the waves were so violent. He practically slid through the water. In seconds, he had made it to the floating house, clinging to the doorstep. Everything kept changing. The sky had turned completely black, though it still gave off light; that was weird. And the waters had taken on an even darker blue colour. Now Jace felt like he was being dragged down. The only thing keeping him above the surface was his grip on the house. But he was losing his hold. Cracks began to appear across the step’s surface. Was he really that strong? When he tried to pull himself up, he found that he had no strength. He could barely even move. It was unbelievably frustrating. There is nothing. The step crumbled to nothing and he was dragged down into the water. But instead of plummeting like he expected himself to, he only sunk until his head was about a foot under the water’s surface. Not only that, but he could breathe underwater. And for some reason, he didn’t want to go back up. Because there was nothing there. Soon enough, he became weightless and the water around him shimmered purple and white. For some reason, he had expected that to happen. He was going somewhere else now. The purple light vanished and suddenly Jace had mass once more. He was on his hands and knees in what looked to be a cave. Torches lined the green, stoney walls, but there was no one else around.

Jace got to his feet, not bothering to look around. For some reason, he knew that the scenery would be the same no matter where he looked. He just needed to get out and get back to reality, whatever or wherever that reality happened to be. One direction of the cave was dark, and the other was incredibly bright. Needless to say, Jace had a better feeling about the light end. Dragging his right hand along the wall, he started walking towards it. He had a really good feeling. He smiled and started to run; he wanted to get there quickly. That was definitely the place. He was really close to the end of the tunnel. He was able to make out the shapes of trees and he could hear birds chirping. It's there! There was a flash and he was just about to step out of the cave. But then everything went purple and Jace felt an immense pressure tugging him backward. The world of light faded out of focus and rushed away. He was underwater again. But he could still feel tears slipping down his face. Why am I crying? It felt way too familiar. The thing he had wanted so badly was snatched away, again. Then he started to fall. The water had lost it's volume and he fell through it, dropping like a rock. He only stared up at where he knew the surface was as he fell. That surface he would never reach. It seemed like as soon as he had started falling, the light above the surface returned. Why?This fall was the real deal. He still hadn't been hurled into another place. He could feel the wind against his back, and he was starting to run out of air. What was going to happen? Was he going to hit something eventually, or would he fall forever? All Jace knew was that he was getting further and further away from the thing he wanted. He didn't even know what it was or why he wanted it so bad. But he knew he wanted it. So why can't I have it?And then he was flying. The purple light yielded and everything turned blue. He owned it now. That darkness wouldn't drag him down. Because it belonged to him. Flying faster than anything else had ever dared to move, Jace broke the surface in a matter of seconds. His momentum carried him high into the sky and the world reformed itself below him. It was a world of ice.

Ice and purple trees. That was pretty much the extent of the landscape Jace was looking down on. The world seemingly ended several metres below where he was floating, dropping away into an endless chasm. It was snowing in this chasm, but not on the side that held the ice world, which was odd given that it was in fact, a world of ice. This is mine...? I don't know if this was what I wanted...There was one other thing dotting the landscape. Blue people. They had glowing yellow eyes and horns, too. They all looked pretty pissed off and were all holding weapons; mostly battle axes and spears. For whatever reason, Jace only glowered down at the blue people, folding his arms over his chest as he floated in midair. They were in his world and they were coming at him with weapons? Not cool. But what could they do to him while he was way up in the air? Apparently, tranquilizing arrows were a thing here. Jace was just beginning to wonder what he should do to deal with the hoard of blue people when something struck his chest. He felt a slight stinging sensation there before he wobbled and started to drop through the air like a stone. He couldn't even fly anymore; his power was gone. And still, he didn't have much of a reaction, just staring back up at the pale blue sky as he fell through flurries of driving snow. Soon enough, his vision went black, although he could feel something cold catch him in midair. It was odd; he couldn't see anything or move, but he could still feel and hear. Was this some kind of drug used for torture? Oh, goodie. After a while, he felt himself get thrown onto something that felt like grass. What seemed like hours later, his vision returned and he was able to get up. And now he was confused. The snow and ice was all gone, and now he was standing in a grassy clearing. Across from him was a girl with blue hair in pigtails, wearing a black dress and holding a long naginata. Even though Jace didn't know her name, he knew her. It was his friend from before! Now he could actually see what she looked like. She was kind of hot. And yet, he didn't think of her in a romantic way. Both of them were here for a purpose... training! They were training for a great battle. Oh, right... Suddenly, Jace had a silver short sword in his hands. He didn't quite know why he needed a weapon when he had the power he did, but it was fine. He would just rely on his powers when he got to the battlefield. He nodded to his friend to let her know that he was ready. And then they started to move through the trees towards their battle. So much for training.

"Oh wow, it was right here after all." Jace's friend only shot a glare over her shoulder at him when he spoke. He couldn't blame her; he had just given their position away. But he couldn't help it. Here he had been expecting a long, intense walk through the woods, but all they had needed was to take a few steps through the trees to reach the destination. Said grassy area was a long field. Trees in the distance suggested that the forest continued farther down. To Jace's right, there was a cliff, much like the one he had fallen under in the ice world. To his left, the field stretched on endlessly. And in the very centre... was their battlefield. For whatever reason, there was a tennis court by the cliff. On it, several people were fighting. Regular humans that Jace thought he knew from somewhere were all pitted against each other. They fought to the death in twos while blue people watched as if they were in charge of the whole mess. How on earth had he not heard this from the clearing? "No! This is wrong!" He couldn't stand to see these people fight each other. They were all friends! Filled with anger, Jace brandished his sword and ran up to a group of blue people who seemed to be engrossed in a conversation. That was until he slashed one of them across the back. He felt really triumphant about that fact until it turned around, seemingly unaffected, and backhanded him across the face so hard that he went flying a few metres. His sword went flying out of his grip as he landed on the ground on his side. The three blue people converged on him, looking none too happy that one of the humans were rebelling. But Jace wasn't worried about that; he had his powers, still. He raised a hand, palm facing the blue person in the middle, as if to unleash some devastating attack. Power built up and... Nothing happened. "Huh?" Jace felt a spark of panic and tried again. Still nothing. Before he could give it another go, one of the blue people slammed an axe down towards his head. Luckily, Jace hadn't lost all of his speed. He was at least able to move to the side enough that it hit his left shoulder instead, burying itself a good couple inches into his flesh before the assailant pulled their blade back. Oddly enough, Jace didn't feel a lot of pain. But he did feel himself getting even weaker. He had started to lower to his knees, but was kicked backwards, landing against a rocky outcropping. Now that had hurt. But there was one upside; his short sword was only a couple feet away from him. His left arm was practically useless now, but he could wield with one hand anyway. He picked the sword up and flipped the blue people off. "Bring it on, bitches." He was in total badass mode. These blue fuckers were about to get owned.

The blue people brought it. But they were slower than Jace. When the first one got close, he slashed down towards its head, putting all of his strength into the blow. Surprisingly, the blue person used the same move Jace had used to partially avoid the axe before. It shifted to the side so that the blade hit its shoulder instead. But instead of burying itself in the opponent's shoulder, the blade simply banged against it, leaving no mark at all. Blue person number one smirked and swung at Jace with its own weapon. He promptly dodged, even though he was quite shocked. He couldn't use his powers, and now he couldn't even cut these guys? Maybe he hadn't swung hard enough... The other two blue people came at him and he swung again, this time hitting one of them in the side of the neck. His blade broke. The jagged edge of the sword flew off to the side while Jace vainly tried to parry oncoming slashes with what remained of the sword. He was able to fend off most of their attacks, despite the wound to his shoulder. But three seemingly invincible opponents was too much. Off in the distance, Jace could see his friend fighting too. She had melded into the crowd of fighting humans and was skilfully taking them out with her naginata. Wait, what? Why was she going along with it? "Stop!"Jace zipped around the three blue people, or tried to. After a few steps, he noticed his steps becoming heavier. And then he fell to one knee, dropping his sword. What... He looked down and saw that there was blood everywhere. A fairly large hole had been torn through his side. It almost looked like a bite mark. Before he could freak out about it, a foot slammed into his face and he was sent reeling. He fell on his ass a few metres away, conveniently close to the cliff. He could see over the edge. Waves slammed against rocks at the bottom of what looked to be a fifty-foot drop. Didn't seem like a good escape route. But did he have a choice? He had no power, no weapon, and he could barely move. It was either get killed by the blue people, or drown. Maybe even bleed to death. Jace looked to the blue people and then back over the cliff. He never could make these decisions on the fly. His friend was still fighting. Even if she was doing the wrong thing, he couldn't just leave her... Jace moved to get up, only to receive another slash, this one across his back. "What the fuck?" There was no one behind him; there couldn't be. The only thing that was behind him was air. As he turned around to look anyway, he got another foot to the face, which made his decision for him. Instinctively, he tried to grab the foot, only to flail at empty air. He had already fallen over the edge.
