Hello! Aozora here! I got something that got on my mind that problems me:: Techniques. You say we get one when we rank up? For characters who worked hard to make a well developed character for a high rank, that seems pretty much a downer.
I agree we should have techniques when we rank. But I also say there should be a system to earn more techniques. Now, here is a suggest. You can have points to rank up yes? That we gain points as we finish threads? Well....Points can be used for techniques too.
Like simple techniques cost 3, medium/medicore are 5, advance is 7. By easy/medium/advance..I mean basing on complexity and power. I also think maybe as one class up..it cost more to learn techniques. This show that the stronger characters need more time to learn then a newbie or something..
EX: Elite or Master take longer to learn new techniques the same complexity then Novice or Adept. XD
Overall: I am asking for a system to gain more techniques then just ranking up. I am not asking for many techniques. Heck, you can add a cap of the max amount of techniques one can learn..and gradually raise the cap. XD

I agree with Aozora.
Though I do not have a character of Elite or Master Rank, I can see how things could be difficult for them to earn techniques. Though they do sort of have eight. BUT. I do like the idea she has came up with, since I like being able to use multiple techniques as well as trickery and physical combat.
But that just me, I vote yes to the idea.

Okay, I'm gonna drop an explanation of tech's.
First off, consider Asuka's is wind manipulation. How long do you think it took her character to master being able to create a sword out of wind? Did she discover it as soon as her fullbring manifested? No, you cannot just pull new ways to use powers out of your ass. No matter how awesome your character may be, it just doesn't work that way. It's way too Mary Sue. It takes intense concentration to be able to do something like that at first, and then as you get better, it gets easier, even becoming second nature to the user. And while this is an anime RP site, we need to be somewhat realistic for the sake of fairness and really, role-play quality.
If you can think of new innovative ways to use your existing techniques, that's cool. Basic things such as forming a slightly different object than a sword from the compressed air or sending a slight gust towards an opponent do not need to be registered, because it is implemented by your basic ability/existing technique, that you can already do this. However, anything that would require your character actually having to figure out a completely new way of using their ability than what they are used to, is a technique. Some may be outlandish and not sound like they have a huge relation to your basic ability, even.
Example: Say Gray only had one technique, which is to form a sword of ice, while his base ability is ice manipulation. Suddenly, in one of my posts, he makes a huge ass cage and traps your character in it. Can he suddenly do this just because his ability is ice manip, though he only knows how to form a sword so far? Are you cool with that? Um lolno. you're like "wtf is that shit?"
So I hope this clears things up. In a technical sense, Fensake has a point. But in the face of how we regard techniques here, there are some fatal flaws. I don't want people getting ixed up/pissed off anymore, so there. I hope this helps.

I was really excited about this site and such, but I feel like I'm punished for starting off strong. Yeah, maybe there should be a draw back to having so much power, but not being able to develop new techniques feels even more limiting than anything else. It's suffocating. I almost wanted to start over as weak as possible so I can rank up and have a decent arsenal of techniques.
But yeah, I admit that learning this did discourage me from RPing here like I initially planned to.

Well, we're working on that, if people would just provide more opinions I could get a better handle on what to do and get this all straightened out.

Honestly I think some kind of points thing is the best way to handle that, trade in points for techs instead of a stat boost, I can't think of a better system than that. If we could figure out how to work that, (the only other option was the money system, but we can't find away to make that work cause the coding is stupid x.x) then we'll have a decent system.

You could always bring back training threads for techs, so you can see the growth of the character as they exhaust themselves to try and do this cool thing that the character was thinking about o.o

......Actually that's not a bad idea either, and rather than earning points for them like on BN, they just earn a new tech slot. It's not that you're being punished or anything, starting off on a higher rank just means you won't have thirty techs by the time you level up completely. Which personally doesn't bother me, but maybe that's because I personally don't use thirty per battle... Hell, my last battle I only used a couple techs o.o I get people like doing that, but I just can't understand how a fight would drag on that long x.x Unless the sole purpose of it is just to occupy yourself when you're bored, but I think I'd get bored if a fight lasted longer than it needed too. Anyway that last bit is just my own opinion *shrug*

I like the tech training thread idea too. I mean, the points idea is also great, but the thread one would be simpler to implement.

Like I said just have it be an option when its submitted (with an option for each char of course..) o.o people can train for what they want to train for

Okay guys, we've been hard at work trying to come up with a system, and we should have it completely hammered out today.
