Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
A couple of minutes passed after Leanna arrived at the fields. It was lightly wooded, secluded; and it had a small lake in the middle of the few trees that took root. She took a liking to serene places like the one she stood on, letting her dark amber eyes take in the surrounding environment. The partly cloudy sky mixed with a gentle breeze that always seemed to blow made these places ideal for her training. The calm, quiet atmosphere did little to interfere with her thinking. The temperature made the field almost too relaxing for her, being a cool 65°F. However, she wasn't so taken by the weather to actually relax.
Leanna wore a dark black shirt, with long sleeves stopping just above her wrists. A moderate black skirt adorned her lower body, falling just below her knees, with long black stockings covering the rest of her legs. Her skin was a pale peach hue, appearing much lighter with the aid of the sunlight and her dark clothing. She would probably be mistaken for a goth, if there wasn't a white border which surrounded the bottom portion of the skirt; or if one failed to notice that she wore a navy retainer. A necklace hung around her which bore a crucifix, which rested atop her chest. It was a simple design, bearing a fleur de lis at each end; but Leanna found it aesthetically appealing. She treasured the item, and kept it on her person at all times.
Leanna volunteered to aid in sparring with another person. Like herself, he was new, and probably around her level of experience. She had never actually participated in real combat, and thought this to be a perfect opportunity to practice using her skills. In her mind, it would be beneficial to both if they sparred. If she didn't do well, hopefully she could find areas where she could improve.
To prepare for her upcoming fight, she would need her Quincy cross. Leanna pushed her long, ebon hair away from her neck with her right hand, maneuvering her fingers to undo her necklace before wrapping the chain around her wrist. She muttered a short prayer before attempting to detect spiritual presences. Leanna wanted to monitor any incoming persons, primarily to prevent getting surprise-attacked. She had never actually knew him, and wanted to make special precautions in case he was the sort to attempt to frighten people.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break Angry and indignant, Jace trudged through the woodland. He was on the way to a designated 'training area' where he was supposed to spar with someone. How was he supposed to do that? He didn't have a weapon or anything; not even powers like the rest of these freaks seemed to have. He wasn't going to be able to do fuck all. It was only days ago that he had literally been dragged to this place. He had been forced to join this organization called 'Consecro'. They were going to give him a Sigil - whatever that was - when he proved himself. And then he was going to fight for them. And probably die, he thought. He didn't want any part in this supernatural bullshit. He was perfectly fine with the way things had been before. And yet, here he was, against his will. How was something like this even legal? He couldn't understand. And yet, the thing that pissed him off the most was the fact that Radek had been right. It had happened, and now Jace was royally fucked.
With a stormy expression, Jace entered the field. He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't notice the girl standing practically right across from him. I have to fight a girl...? His day had just gotten even worse. Never mind the fact that she was probably a lot stronger than him, how could he bring himself to hit a girl? These Consecro people were sick. He vaguely wondered if this girl had been forced to join as well. He didn't want to ask, though. Knowing his luck, she was here of her own free will. It was the only thing that made sense since they apparently trusted her to 'train him'.
He waited for the girl to say something. If she was in charge of this whole thing, she probably had something to say, right? Or would she just attack him? He didn't know, and he didn't much care for this sparring session. He was very competitive, but he really couldn't hit a girl; it went against all of his moral values to do so. He figured he could just get by trying to dodge everything. All he knew was that he didn't want to be here, torn away from everything he knew. It just wasn't right.

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna turned her body towards the presence that had arrived. Her partner showed up, it seemed. She examined his expression and deduced he wasn't happy being in the field, or being around her in general. She couldn't tell what was irking the man, which made her curious. Leanna perused Jace, attempting to gauge his physical capabilities, then tried to gauge his spirit energy. The result was somewhat shocking to her. He seemed to be weaker than her. His reiatsu was higher than a typical human's, but only slightly. If he was in a crowd, it would be possible she wouldn't be able to locate him. Despite his energy, he seemed to be physically fit, which at the moment would be better than nothing.
Leanna walked towards him, her gait stiff, similar to a militiaman. Her own expression bore a serious look, making her appear angry as she walked towards Jace. She stopped about 2 meters in front of him, then looked up towards his eyes. At this point, if he couldn't tell before, he should notice now that she was much shorter than him, by almost 5 inches. Leanna looked at his face for a little bit. So he's my training partner? Her serious expression eased gently before speaking.
"Perhaps I should introduce myself. I am Leanna Nacht, proxy of the Consecro."
She gave a small bow out of respect, but brought herself back up. Leanna placed her right foot backward, turning her body slightly to the side before channeling her energy into her cross. A bow synthesized from the gathering reishi, bearing a cobalt blue color and resembling a metal bow from a middle-age fantasy. She held the bow in her left hand, while her right index finger grazed the bowstring. Leanna looked at her opponent, then realized that he wasn't likely able to manipulate his powers. His energy level seems too low to make an effective weapon, she thought, then proceeded to pull out a Quincy bangle from her pocket. Leanna tossed the weapon towards Jace and spoke, "Take that weapon if you need it. It should help with rudimentary training involving reishi molding. It already gathers energy for you. The rest will be up to you." Her words were blunt, but she wanted to help him if he needed it. If Jace was capable of forming a weapon, then the Quincy bangle would simply be an accessory for him. Either way, Leanna was going to take this spar seriously, and she didn't want to cause too much harm if the man was as weak and she thought.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break For a moment, the girl across the field just stared at Jace. He tried to be patient, but he really didn't like being stared at. He was wondering if he should say something when she finally walked over to him. When she was closer, he noticed how much shorter she was compared to himself. It really was going to be hard to fight her. She had an ominously serious expression, too. Oh, man... Before Jace could allow himself to be caught up in more bitter thoughts about how he really didn't want to do this, the girl introduced herself.
"I'm Jace," he introduced himself in return, trying not to sound as angry as he felt. His introduction compared to Leanna's wasn't formal at all; he hadn't even given her his last name. He didn't see much of a point. As for his rank... well, he didn't really have one yet. What was he supposed to say? Normally, he would have followed up with something like 'nice to meet you' or something of the like, but this didn't really seem like the time for idle chat. With someone who looked so serious, small talk would probably be nothing but an annoyance, not to mention a waste of time.
Jace only flinched a little when Leanna suddenly made a bow seemingly from thin air. He still wasn't used to the whole thing about people having powers. He had no idea how he was supposed to dodge arrows, but he was going to have to try. Besides, this was just a spar, not like she was going to try and kill him. I hope.
He was just staring at the bow with a blank look when Leanna tossed him a silver object. He snapped out of his daze and caught it, nearly dropping the bangle. So I can do that, with this...? he thought, looking at it for a moment before glancing over to Leanna's bow again. "Thanks," he said, assuming he should put it on his wrist. He did so, and waited for Leanna to start. There was no way he could bring himself to attack first. He had no idea how he was supposed to use the thing she had given him, but he would try when he needed to. Maybe if he channeled his... energy into it?

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna's tense mentality eased up slightly, though her expression showed little signs of change. She still kept her gaze on Jace, finding some relief that he picked up the bangle. Under similar circumstances, had she not known of Quincy artifacts, she would not have easily accepted the artifact. After all, an opponent handing their enemy a weapon could possibly a ploy. A weapon thought to help the unarmed might end up being a tool to aid the assailant instead. Jace's apparent trusting nature gave her a little hope that the spar would progress more...smoothly.
Leanna brought herself to stance, keeping her back straight, with her feet positioned in front and back of her, providing a base for her firing skills. She lifted her left hand upward, bringing her bow up before slanting it slightly to her right. Her eyes still kept its gaze on Jace, but once she brought her bow up, her expression shifted to an extremely serious gaze; one easily mistaken for one bearing killing intent, though her mind was going through similar processes. If I don't take this seriously, none of us will benefit from this spar. If I don't battle with a killing intent, then he won't know what it would feel like to fight one who intends to kill him. If I attack to kill, he may respond in the same manner, and we can both respond appropriately when our lives are in danger, she thought, placing her right hand on the bowstring, grasping the string with her thumb, ring, and middle fingers. I can't show mercy for now.
Leanna lifted her head a little higher, then waved her head a little bit to toss the hair off her shoulders. Afterwards, she shouted, "Prepare yourself. I won't go easy on you just because you're new. I don't expect you to do the same for me. Now..." she spoke, before drawing her fingers back, rapidly gathering reishi to her fingers and forming an arrow. "Show me what you are capable of!" she finished, shouting at a much higher volume. Her eyes now honed in on his location, her gaze sharpened to a single point. Leanna's face contorted slightly, her expression shifting completely to a murderous gaze. Just as she ended her spar initiation, she released her fingers from the bowstring, letting her arrow fly towards Jace, aiming at the center of his chest.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break As he waited for Leanna to start, Jace kept glancing towards the bangle on his wrist as if he expected it to do something on its own. Come on, what am I doing? he thought after a couple seconds. As if it would be that easy. Even if it did end up working for him, then what would he do? Shoot at the girl? Well, that is sort of the point here... His aim was pretty bad, anyway. Even if Jace shot at her, he would probably end up missing. Even though it shouldn't have, that thought put him a little more at ease. He really was missing the point of training, by a long shot.
Jace looked back to Leanna when she spoke. She seemed to be a lot more serious now, even her facial expression had changed. This was really happening. "All right," he said, trying not to sound as apprehensive as he felt as he took a couple steps backward. He thought it might be a good idea to get a bit of distance against a ranged fighter.
When the girl drew back her bow, Jace didn't move an inch. He didn't want to end up running right into whatever she shot at him. He simply stared at her hand on the bow, waiting for it to fire. He didn't let Leanna's shout stagger him, and instead tried stepping to the left as he saw her fire. Jace felt something graze his right arm and looked down to see a crimson liquid already beginning to seep through the fabric of his coat. Shit. He hadn't expected her shot to be so fast, even if it was an arrow. Even trying to time his sidestep, he still ended up getting grazed. Still, the cut wasn't too bad, and it certainly wasn't life-threatening. Jace could deal with it.
Looking back to Leanna with a more serious expression, Jace raised his right hand so that it was facing her. Surprisingly enough, a faint, purple-hued bow of Reishi formed without him doing anything. "What the..." Taken aback, he hesitantly pulled back the string of the bow. An arrow formed there, again without much effort from Jace. Figuring it was standard for him to retaliate at this point - even if he really didn't want to - Jace let go of the string, allowing the Reishi arrow to fly off in Leanna's general direction. It was uncertain if the arrow would even come close to hitting the girl, but he had to attack while he could. With his luck, the bow would suddenly stop working, or something.

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna examined Jace's reaction to the incoming arrow. Jace had avoided the brunt of the attack, bearing what appeared to be minor damage on his shoulder. His sidestep set a aside a small worry deep within her subconscious. He wasn't a stranger to a fight, or at the very least, possessed the reflexes to effectively engage in combat. Jace presented a promising opportunity for her. Good. He's capable of avoiding some attacks. If I keep this up, he'll improve more than I initially assumed, she thought, considering whether she should up the ante and push him harder.
Despite being injured, the man continued with little hesitation. His persistence already earned her respect, considering he was new. His own expression seemed to match hers, at least in her mind. Her fingers hung loosely as she brought her right hand behind her bowstring. Leanna's eyes kept watch on Jace as he formed his own bow with her gift. He appeared surprised, something which wasn't unexpected, but it irked her slightly how he reacted afterwards. She stared at him, analyzing his movements, and interpreted them as signs of hesitation. Her eyes widened slightly from shock. He can't actually be hesitating, even after my shot! she thought, which quickly passed once his arrow fired.
His arrow had been fired relatively quickly, but it seemed he didn't put his heart into the shot. The arrow went off course from any vital region, and was heading towards her right shoulder. Leanna turned her body to the right, backing up and bending back while doing so. It's one thing if adrenaline is causing him to move erratically, but he's not showing any signs of the sort. While the arrow missed her shoulder, and not by a narrow margin either, she felt she should make a display to show her attitude towards the spar. If he won't take this seriously, I should force him to. Hesitation could cost him his life in a real battle. She swiftly brought her left arm into a swing, aiming a portion of her bow towards Jace's arrow, shattering it on impact. Leanna let her body's momentum bring her back to face the man, after which she glared at him fiercely.
Leanna curled her fingers on her right and toward her palm, gathering reishi between her thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers; before bring her hand towards her bowstring. His act of hesitation was apparent in his arrow, and she wasn't going to allow it to persist. "I'd prefer not to use this technique against an ally, but if you keep hesitating; I'll be forced to play my cards," she spoke, anger detectable in her tone. He only hesitated once, so far, but the fact he did at all bothered her.
Three arrows formed between her fingers as she pulled at her bow. "I know this is simply a spar, but it would benefit you, and myself, if you take this seriously," Leanna said. Once she finished, she moved her fingers in a manner so two of her arrows moved off of the bowstring. Afterward, she slung her fingers back, letting go of the bowstring and firing the one arrow, letting it fly toward Jace. Her choice of target differed though, aiming directly at his leg, specifically the knee. Unfortunately, the leg was a much smaller target than the chest, so chances were high that even a newbie could dodge the arrow with little to no effort. Despite her choice of target, Leanna thought it would be good to make other attempts at attack. If the arrow did strike the target, chances were very high that he would be immobilized.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break As expected, Jace's arrow missed completely. He didn't feel particularly put out by this fact. Then again, if he couldn't manage to hit his opponent, what could he do? Jace definitely was going to lose this match. To make matters worse, he was stuck using a ranged weapon; something he had very little experience with and didn't like in the first place. At the very least, he wouldn't have to try and hit Leanna. Jace couldn't bring himself to hit a girl, unless they were truly trying to kill him. Even then, it took a lot for him to lash out. He had never been in such a situation.
Jace stared, a little shocked, as Leanna lashed out with her bow and shattered his arrow rather easily. Uh-oh. Now she looked really pissed. Jace already knew why. Sure, he wasn't taking this seriously. But he wasn't exactly enthralled by the idea of standing around and shooting arrows back and forth. This wasn't how Jace pictured himself fighting, if he ever did make it that far.
He tried not to let his apprehension show on his face at Leanna's words. What did she mean by 'technique'? Was her next arrow going to be special somehow? He readied himself, sliding his right foot back a bit and pulling back on the string to his own bow.
Not knowing what else he could do, Jace moved to the left again when he saw Leanna let go of her bowstring. He actually managed to dodge it completely with that movement. Surprised, but also frustrated that he had to do this, he let a newly-formed arrow. It had a bit more aim than the last one, but still only had a chance of hitting the girl's arm or shoulder. Sure, Jace was supposed to be taking this seriously, but he wasn't going to aim a shot that could potentially kill. Even if he was no good with a ranged weapon, he wouldn't.

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna was a little glad witnessing Jace keep up with her arrow's speed. Unlike her first shot, he avoided it completely. It seems the stress of combat is sinking in. Good. If I push harder, he may retaliate properly, she thought, relieved that her spar was progressing favorably.
The arrow continued to travel down its path, but she kept her eye on it for the time being. She had to react quickly if she wanted to make proper use of it. However, Jace's counterattack threw her concentration off for a moment. He formed another arrow and fired it at her. Unlike his previous strike, it had more aim; more thought put into the attack. The arrow was headed towards her arm, which isn't a vital area; though if it did happen to hit, it would leave her firing arm useless. Despite this, Leanna couldn't tell if this was his intention.
Leanna turned her body to her right, kicking herself backward. The arrow grazed the front of her torso, giving her a shallow cut stretching from shoulder to shoulder across her clavicle, tearing the fabric. A mild burning sensation shot across the injured area. The pain was not something completely unfamiliar to her, yet it was both aggravating and comforting. Leanna's clothing was torn, and she was suffering discomfort. She would have to repair her clothing after the spar was over, but Jace successfully landed an attack, somewhat. Adrenaline pumped through her more fiercely. So this is what it feels like. To truly know what it feels like to be hurt, to be targeted. This spar is going much better than I had hoped, Leanna thought, exhilarated from the progressing battle. All she would have to do now is push him further, and hopefully, he would drive her to reciprocate.
Leanna turned herself more quickly to the right, focusing on Jace once again. Her arrow traveled a great distance since firing. To utilize it, she would have to change its course immediately. She manipulated her arrow, causing it to change course and aim directly at Jace again, targeting his heel. Shortly after, she brought her right hand to her bowstring, pulling her remaining two arrows backward. Leanna held her bow parallel to the ground before firing both arrows, both aiming towards his shoulders. The arrows' path differed from normal, moving more diagonally. If Jace moved backward enough, he would dodge both, but Leanna's redirected arrow would end up hitting him higher up in the leg.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break Jace tried not to let his self-reproach show after he saw his arrow graze Leanna. He hadn't really wanted to hit her at all. It was odd; even though she had already hit him and even had caused him injury, he didn't care about getting her back. Maybe it was because she was a girl, or maybe it had something to do with the fact that Jace assumed she was being forced to do this. Why would anyone want to sit around and shoot arrows at one of their 'comrades' all day? Training was all good and fine, but using something like those energy bows seemed a little dangerous. Someone could actually die.
Jace tensed when he saw Leanna pulled back on her bowstring again. How long are we gonna have to keep doing this? Jace wondered briefly, frustrated and just a little apprehensive. He knew that he wouldn't be able to beat this girl, and he didn't want to. Was this going to go on until he was half-dead or something? But, now wasn't the time to be griping. Leanna shot two arrows seconds later, and Jace reacted by ducking and leaning slightly to the right. The two arrows sailed above his head as he ducked, close enough that he could feel a slight breeze from the projectiles. Holy shit... That was too close for comfort.
Thinking that he was off of the hook for now, Jace was about to straighten up. Before he could, something hit the back of his right leg. Eyes widening, he fell to one knee. What just... Jace could feel blood running down his leg and he instantly felt sick. Somehow, he had been hit from behind. But Leanna had been standing in front of him the entire time. She hadn't moved. "Fuck... FUCK!!" he cursed, trying, and failing to control himself. Jace was no longer paying much attention to Leanna. He was more concerned about the blood that was starting to drip onto the grass beneath him. Not only that, the pain in his leg was almost unbearable. Just how badly had he been hit?
Through it all, Jace's bow didn't disappear. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he hadn't even need to do anything to even activate it. But he didn't really care about that at the moment. Jace didn't make any move to attack back, still crouching and staring at the ground with wide eyes. He wasn't expecting Leanna to attack again now that he was like this. If she did, he would cross that bridge when he came to it, hopefully.

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna looked toward Jace, calmly maintaing her focus on his location. Her eyes held the appearance of being indifferent, her mouth kept a serious partial frown. Despite her calm and collected exterior, worry started to fill her mind. Her eyes kept gazing at Jace, but slowly would lose focus. His cursing, the appearance on his face, every little motion he made after getting struck made her worried for him. Her arrow had landed perfectly at Jace's leg, but the damage was too severe, and the spar ended too quickly for it to have been very productive. Her body trembled slightly at the man's reaction, holding back her horror at what she had done. He's a new recruit. Why did I attack so fiercely? Of course he wouldn't know how to retaliate under these conditions. He hasn't had enough experience. He probably didn't even try to imagine how a battle would turn out if he engaged, she thought, guilty at her actions. Her arms fell down slowly, clearly trembling as they lowered. The bow still remained in tact, but the outer edges slowly started to dissipate to reishi particles. Her concentration on her bow was fading.
Leanna's focus shifted from reality to her thoughts, and vice-versa. She looked at the blood gushing from his leg, then started to get frightened again. I have no means to close that wound. I have none of my first aid supplies. How am I going to stop the bleeding? Leanna looked at him again. More blood was pouring out. Dammit. What am I supposed to use? Her arms hung from her body, and her eyes lost its focus. Her facial expression remained stern, but it was clear her mind was on something else. Her right hand happened to graze her poniard as it hung.
Suddenly, she had an idea. Leanna completely deactivated her bow before pulling the poniard out from her belt. She tugged on her shirtsleeve on her left arm with her left hand, then cut the around the sleeve with her knife. The poniard was not good at making a clean cut, so she ended up having to pull on the sleeve until it tore off, revealing her pale white arm. Leanna placed the poniard back on her belt before running toward Jace. She forcefully dissipated the arrow in his leg just before she stopped in front of him.
Leanna knelt down to the ground, moving his hands gently out of the way. She proceeded to close the wound as best as she could. She took her torn sleeve and wrapped it around his wound, placing the area where the cloth overlapped over the front of the hole. Unfortunately, the sleeve wasn't long enough to tie up, so she took off her belt and tied it tightly to hold the cloth in place. Despite her horror and worry, and the blood pouring out, she remained perfectly calm throughout the procedure; her fingers making each maneuver without trembling. "I'm sorry Jace. I know I wanted you to fight seriously, but it was seriously too much to ask this of you. I shouldn't have used that technique on you. I didn't create it to be used on an ally," she spoke, her voice bearing genuine signs of apology. "Do you think you can get to a hospital on your own? I'll help if you are unsure," she spoke. However, she was planning on following him to a hospital, regardless of his answer. Leanna had to make sure Jace was going to be alright. The least she could do after using excessive force against him would be to ensure his recovery.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break Kneeling on the ground and staring at the blood gushing from his leg, Jace almost forgot that Leanna was there. He was wildly racking his brain; trying to think of a way to make it stop, but of course could up with nothing because of the the pain clouding his mind.
When the glowing arrow in his leg suddenly disappeared, Jace started a little. Apprehensive, he looked up at the sound of footsteps to see that Leanna had come over to him. Her bow was gone, though. Given that, it was a fair assumption that she wasn't going to attack any more. He didn't flinch when she pushed his hands away, only watching as she used a piece of cloth and a belt to close the wound.
"I-it's okay..." Jace surprisingly accepted the girl's apology right off the bat. No matter what anybody did to him, Jace almost always forgave them if they apologized in earnest. The way he saw it, as long as the person was willing to take responsibility for their actions, they were all right. "I hit you a couple times too, anyway," he said, as if to say that they were even.
"Hospital?" Jace echoed, dismayed. He hated hospitals, and he avoided them like the plague. He didn't even know why; he just hated them. Then again, before now, he had never accumulated any serious injuries, so he didn't really need to go. Now was a different story. He had half-considered saying he was going to go and then just going home, but then he decided that it was an absolutely retarded idea. He would probably end up losing his leg if he did that.
After a couple seconds, he finally continued. "Yeah, I'm good." He didn't want to look like a pussy. He didn't even know where the hospital was, but he would find it eventually, right? Jace was good at finding things. Putting his weight on his good leg, he was able to stand up, but when he tried to take a step with the injured one, he ended up back on the ground. "Or not..." he muttered after a frustrated hiss of pain.

Clock is ticking while I'm killing time... Words: Notes: -- -- HAN: 7 REI: 9 HAK: 10 SEI:10 BUK: 13 HOH: 6
Leanna's eyes lowered slightly in shame. Jace may have forgave her for the violence, but she still couldn't find it in her to forgive herself. The damage was too severe. He made a rather poor attempt at consoling her, or perhaps a strange attempt to ingratiate himself. A couple of times? Either I hit him harder than I thought, or he's trying to make me feel better. He only hit me once, and the wound was superficial. Both of my strikes dealt much more gruesome blows, she thought.
Leanna crossed her arms lightly, cupping her palms beneath her elbows as she watched Jace attempt to walk. Her chest started to hurt as she watched him. Leanna could see the agony he was in, despite his best efforts to conceal it. Pressing so much weight on a single leg was a simple hint to her. If it wasn't apparent that he was in no condition to walk earlier, his collapse would provide the final clue. Jace's hiss of pain after falling made her cringe. She did her best to keep her composure, but couldn't bear to look at him in this condition.
Leanna walked over to him, but looked in another direction as she got closer. A couple of seconds passed before she was able to even glance at him, or make eye contact. Leanna knelt down one more time, kneeling on Jace's injured side. She grabbed his arm and pulled him upwards, lifting his arm up over her shoulder. As she stood up, Leanna lifted Jace's body higher on the wounded side, so he wouldn't have to use that leg. "I'll help you to the hospital," she spoke apologetically, as she started walking towards the nearest city. The nearest hospital was still far away, but she hoped that once they entered the nearest city or town, someone would call for or offer help.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true] [atrb=style,width:400px,bTable] | every thing's gonna crash and break When Jace looked up at Leanna, he noticed that she looked sad. Fuck. She was obviously feeling guilty over this. But he was the one who hadn’t been paying enough attention to avoid the arrow. It was mostly his fault. Ashamed that he couldn’t have even fought for much more than a minute, he averted his eyes. Even if he didn’t have powers, he would have expected himself to do a bit better.
Jace tried to push himself up with his uninjured leg as much as he could as Leanna picked him up so that she wouldn’t have to bear too much weight. He was almost surprised that she could pick him up at all. He was obviously quite a bit larger than she was. ”A-all right, thanks,” he said after they were standing up. Again, he had no idea where a hospital was around here, but he figured Leanna did. You’d think they would have a hospital or something near a fucking training area, Jace thought, irritable. Then again, was this even an official training area? He didn’t know, and hadn’t cared enough to bother finding out beforehand. He just hoped there was one nearby. He was struggling to keep his composure as it was.
