FACE CLAIM:
JACKALS - RICK GODFREY
HEIGHT:
6'7" = 200.66 cm
WEIGHT:
242 Lbs. = 109.769 kg
APPEARANCE:
Eric has an unusual charisma about him that makes it difficult for one to see him for who he is. He's intimidating; wolfish features, sharp canine teeth and a daunting gait to his sizable form serve to give him a dangerous presence.
Not unattractive by any means however; his body is well sculpted with very fair, caucasian white skin marked by only a few scars. He's got piercing light blue eyes framed by his largely Germanic, masculine features. He's handsome and well shaped though faint signs of aging can be seen.
A modest beard closer to stubble covers Eric's jaw, though his neck and upper lip are shaved. All of his hair is naturally deep brown, but is dyed a solid dark blue.
As a member of the Onimitsukido, Eric has a slightly different uniform than the Gotei 13; it's the black attire of a Shinobi, covering him from head to toe quite literally in black fabric suited for combat and acrobatics. However, it is worn for assassination and other Onimitsukido missions only. Eric has in his possession a largely unused Shinigami uniform for regular integrations with the Gotei 13. But by preference, he wears neither except when ordered. Eric's preferred attire is a long, heavy white coat without sleeves, the collars and shoulders of which are adorned in thick white wolf fur. The jacket has a bold silver zipper and is somewhat torn at it's edges. He also wears leather buckles attached to a partial sleeve and gauntlet that cover his arms from the backs of his hands all the way up to the top of his arm, ending just below the deltoid of the shoulder. Similar buckles cover his legs which are clad in tight but flexible dark blue pants which are mostly hidden by the countless black leather straps, descending down to a pair of moderately tight black boots suited for combat and rough terrain. He's often shirtless like this, as the coat itself can't be pulled close enough to zip over his heavily muscled chest.
Eric possesses an exquisite body of raw muscle; with a build very much like some kind of viking, his upper body is extraordinarily built and his shoulders are very broad, but his abdomen is also thick with muscle. There is very little fat on him and what he has is so spread out he looks as if he's nothing but muscle, skin, and bone. The slightest motion causes bold veins to bulge on the surface of his skin, thus he covers his arms in order to conceal them. But across the rest of his body a similar effect occurs, and tendons bulge quite thickly as well. His lower body and legs are less built than the rest of him, but his lengthy legs are still muscled and not disproportionately built by any means.

EXTRAS:
Usually speaks very little. However, Eric actually has a lot to say; he honestly hates the order of Soul Society and is a part of it only because no better alternative is available to him and Rukongai is a dunghill to him. Eric's amnesia upon entering society failed to actually remove trauma from life entirely, removing his memory of why he feels the way he does but not removing the anguish itself, which has slowly twisted his personality. He's secretly morbid and aggressive, but is disciplined and self-aware. Mildly inclined towards sadism and megalomania, but neither have quite blossomed in him yet.

TOOLS OF WAR
quote or lyrics here; not too long
WEAPONS:
Butcher: Crossed with the zanpakuto on Eric's back is an absolutely terrifying cleaver-like, single edged greatsword. It is fully intended for use together with his sealed zanpakuto. Unlike Eric's primary weapon however, this huge daunting blade is actually a half foot shorter than his sealed zanpakuto at a length of 66" inches, but has a hilt that is 28" inches long - quite lengthy, and furthermore, weighted segments are spread throughout the full metal grip to give it greater weight concentrated there. Unlike Itami no To, Butcher is quite balanced so that it is easier to hold and maneuver but is very difficult to swing. This weapon actually functions as a shield of sorts, as the very wide blade is also immensely thick, functioning well for defense. Of course no sword is truly made for blocking; Butcher is just suited for it, but ultimately the purpose of the blade is to swoop in a single strike at the enemy's openings in a fatal swing.
TECHNIQUES:
For: Normal techs
Name: Gyūki chāji (牛鬼チャージ: Bull-fiend rush)
Type: Defensive
Cooldown: 3 Posts
Cost: Low-Very High
Range: Self
Description: Projects a layer of reiatsu over the user's skin for a single post. The reiatsu concentrates to form a formidable shell of protection, but it is only as good as it's user's Seijuu. It is a simple barrier technique designed for melee combat. The force layer can withstand multiple attacks, but the user automatically pushes their reiatsu out to meet blows striking the barrier, so the cost of this technique increases depending on what it must defend against. Generally, if attempting to block a technique, the cost will increase based on number of attacks defended against and potency of those attacks.
Once the barrier's cost goes to "Very High" it will automatically break. To avoid excessive energy consumption, the user can turn it off at any time, but the cool down takes effect regardless of whether or not the user received the benefit of the technique's full duration.
So long as the difference between the user's Seijuu and the enemy's attacking stat (SEI or HAK) is no greater than two, every strike blocked will increase the cost of the technique by one rating upwards (From Low to Medium is one example). However, weak attacks like barrages of tiny low-energy projectiles like bala or Quincy arrows fired in swarms are treated only as one tenth of an attack. Similarly, a high power attack such as a charged cero or a higher number Hado spell will count as two strikes, thus increasing the cost greatly.
However, if a difference of more than two points exists between Eric's Seijuu and the enemy's attacking stat in the opponent's favor, cost increases are doubled and even weak attacks count as single strikes. This makes it very easy for his barrier to be broken and for his reiatsu reserves to be quickly depleted, making it essentially useless against stronger enemies. Furthermore, a similar effect occurs if an enemy's attacking stat is more than two points lower than Eric's Seijuu in that the requirements for raising it's cost are doubled, greatly reducing his exertion but only against significantly weaker opponents as said.
If an enemy's attacking stat is majorly higher than Eric's Seijuu, the barrier is instead broken through and penetrated instantly. Similarly if an enemy's attacking stat is majorly lower than Eric's Seijuu, then the cost of blocking their attacks with this technique does not increase.
For: Normal techs
Name: Seiteki (静的: Static)
Type: Defensive
Cooldown: 2 Posts[/i]
Cost: Medium
Range: Self
Description: On a single hand Eric flares his reiatsu in a concentrated pattern, dispersing it outward. Reiatsu striking the current is scattered and pushed outward with it, allowing for the user to seemingly grasp otherwise deadly things such as kido blasts barehanded. But the effectiveness of the ability is quite limited. Only kido spells below #31 and techniques with a cost of 'Medium' or lower are effected by this technique; others will penetrate the current, deactivating this technique. The user won't always know if an attack can be blocked and they're grappling things like fire or worse with their bare hand so there is also always the risk that the technique will meet a force stronger than itself and fail, exposing the user's hand to harsh injury.
However, when successful, it allows the user just five seconds of time in which they can hold otherwise deadly things unscathed like fire or blasts of energy. If the user is skilled and goes uninterrupted, it can be used to deflect an incoming attack but a certain amount of time must pass before the current used for deflection can be used again. While it can also work on melee attacks like punches and slashes, it is almost a waste to use it on physical moves, as it is far less effective and only pushes away reiatsu the enemy put into their attack, softening blows instead of deflecting them.
If an enemy's Seijuu is at least two points higher than Eric's, however, he can only block low cost techniques and kido below number fifteen. The technique does not work at all if the opponent's SEI is 4 points higher than his or more. However, if the enemy's SEI is at least four points less than his own, then techniques of a high cost can be deflected and kido up to number eighty can be effected by this technique. However, this still will never work on 'Very High' cost techniques or sacrificial/high level kido.
Although mostly effective, some damage effects the wielder, so a high HAN state is quite necessary as well.

ZANPAKUTO:
name: Itami no tō (痛みの塔: Tower of Pain)
sealed form: A very large sword with an irregular blade that is rectangular. The large metal blade extends to a length of 6' feet with a 21" inch long hilt. Though simple, the sword has a rather dignified, somewhat graceful look to it, and the grip itself is very katana-like except that like the blade it is straight. It's fabric is a deep blue color, with black cloth showing underneath in the common diamond Tsuka pattern. Also like a Katana, it has a Kashira, but the pommel equivalent is much thicker than it would normally be.
spirit: Zanpakuto come in many forms, shapes, and sizes; out of all the countless potential symbiotes in existence one could receive, it is unlikely for any Shinigami to receive a purposefully malignant Zanpakuto. Itami no To, however, is one such anomaly of probability.
It comes in the form of a strange pallid man, aged and withered. This being claims it is an incomplete representation of it's true being. The spirit only appears as Eric scales the tower of his inner world, filled with puzzles and traps. Apart from that the soul of the sword manifests only to do release dark whispers of provocation, or projects nightmares into Eric's dreams.
However, while almost impossibly aged at the tower's lower floors, the male embodiment of the spirit slowly becomes more youthful and defined as one goes higher up in the tower. It has warned Eric that should he ever reach the top, it will be the end of him, yet continues to lure it's wielder higher and higher up the tower for reasons unknown.
inner world: When one enters the Zanpakuto's inner world, they always originate first within a dead wasteland. Just an inch beneath the soil one finds countless disturbing fossils, leading to horrors unknown that lay dead beneath the visitor's feet.
However, no matter where one appears in the inner world, all points of origin begin as equidistant from the tower. It is a tall and grotesque structure that seems purposefully made as a jagged spire of blackness obscured in it's own shadow, yet, upon close inspection it's every megalithic detail appears organic, like the fossils it is built atop of. The inner world is locked in perpetual dusk, and no matter what direction one moves in, any distance crossed is altered to bring one closer to the tower.
The tower has an unknown number of floors which are clearly separated pocket dimensions of their own. Some floors are strange dream-like planes that alter the visitor's senses before subjecting them to eldritch horrors. Each floor focuses on a single aspect of horror to torment just one aspect of a person's being at a time. If the visitor loses to the darkness, that same part of them is consumed by it; it is possible to lose one's memories, skills, and even senses and qualities of existence to the tower. If it's trials and tests are endured, the only reward is permission to the next floor, and the user enters from the bottom up.
Itami no To is somewhat gracious however; it can take a visitor to any floor it wishes, with their consent. As of late it uses this power to return Eric to the last floor he completed as if to save his progress. However, a horrifying experience on the 28th floor leaves him largely unwilling to enter again, thus he focuses on means of combat that do not depend on his zanpakuto.
SHIKAI:
release command: "Reveal."[/i]
description: Itami no To shrinks when released; the sealed weapon cracks like a shell before it's pieces are blown away, instead revealing a very different weapon left in it's place. It is a single piece weapon, being a sword made entirely of the same metal all the way through. This blade had a crystalline shine to it, reflecting light beautifully from it's surface, but it is not crystal nor glass. It is an aberrational substance on par with carbon steel; this blade has strange architecture and engravings into it's form, retaining the vague grace the blade has while sealed.
Itami no To perfects the control of motion; that is to say, it manipulates kinetic energy within a short area. Ideally it is designed to manipulate only the kinetic energy currently interacting with it's blade, wielder, or anything currently touching it physically. Whenever projecting kinetic energy from itself beyond a short distance, reiatsu is consumed to manipulate that same energy.
Reiatsu can be consumed to produce force. However, while impressive in that it can generate kinetic energy without actually moving, it is the weapon's ability to direct existing kinetic energy that is most impressive.
type: Kinesiomancy (Force magick)
techniques:
For: Shikai Techniques
Name: Mo no ha (喪の刃: Blade of Mourning)
Type: Offensive
Cooldown: 4 Posts
Cost: High
Range: Self; applied to weapon.
Description: With this technique, Eric can at will discharge a powerful kinetic pulse through his blade. However, this is not a projectile - it will only effect what the sword's edges are currently touching meaning anything touching the hilt, grip, or non-edge portions of the blade is totally unaffected. If it fails nothing happens except a strange hum can be heard for a moment, and a black ripple emanates outward from the blade for just half a second before leaving no trace the technique was ever used. If it misses, the user still pays the technique's high cost too, adding an element of risk. But when Mo no ha actually touches something, the effect is heavily damaging. It inflicts not one cut, but many, as if the opponent has been slashed from countless angles in an instant. Ironically enough, the point where the blade initially touched them will be uncut, as whatever momentum the sword touched them with is nullified by the pulse of Mo no ha. Inflicts critical cutting wounds all over the foe's body by projecting kinetic force with the Zanpakuto's shikai power, but is unwieldy and inaccurate except when a direct strike has landed.
For: Shikai techniques
Name: Myaku (脈: Pulse)
Type: Offensive/Other
Cooldown: 1 Post
Cost: Medium
Range: Short-Long
Description: This technique allows Eric's zanpakuto to release a controlled burst of kinetic force from his Zanpakuto. He can manipulate this force as well as delay or accelerate it's expansion, but it cannot move backwards; once it has traveled, the motion cannot be reversed, making it impossible to create vibration of any kind. It may travel through objects harmlessly to conserve energy on it's way to an opponent, and even then, can remain dormant; however, the technique can't be used again until it's effect expires, and keeping it dormant either near or within an enemy prevents reuse. Always capable of being seen as a light blue glow of luminescence where the kinetic energy travels, although the light becomes dim when dormant. It can be avoided fairly easily, as it's speed is comparable to a Hoho stat equal to Eric's Seijuu. Dormant kinetic pulses can remain as such for two posts before dispersing.

HISTORY:
Originally the son of an iron mill worker, Eric Lecarde was an American who joined the navy in search of adventure. Instead, however, he found himself confined to bunkers and ships with few opportunities. After his first tour he entered in a law scholarship and entered higher schooling, eventually becoming an attorney for the Navy to make his money.
Eric's law career brought him and his fiance to Japan, where he knew a mildly pleasant life for two years. However, his fiance abandoned him, and he spent the next few years brooding over himself. Sure that he had done something wrong Eric lived a short life of regret before dying at the hand of a Hollow; his body was destroyed in a single sweep of the monster's powerful claw, eager to devour his rich soul.
However, a Shinigami already in pursuit of the Hollow rescued him from it and purified the torn spirit, but woefully revealed Eric's fate to him and further added that he would lose his memory and be sent to a foreign world. Somewhat eager to forget his past life Eric quietly agreed and was sent to Soul Society.
Already possessing spiritual pressure, Eric was entered into the academy by the Shinigami who brought him to the other side. Eric did well but excelled most in Zanjutsu and Hakuda, leading him to a choice between joining the Onimitsukido or the eleventh squad. Not quite fond of the front lines, Eric chose to join the second squad instead, functioning mostly as a member of the execution corps within the Onimitsukido.
He had no memories or past experiences of himself, but for some odd reason found himself unable to shake off a cold sense of anguish within himself. The nameless pain had been stripped of it's cause but refused to perish. Likewise he seemed to retain his name and habits, but did not find the peace he thought he had been sacrificing his memory for before losing it. He became quite bitter and unpleasant. Eventually Eric became an alcoholic, but was still ambitious enough to stay sober on the job. He seeks strength and position as a distraction from his own undying pain to this day.
