The target would have been easy for any normal Hollow. It was nothing but a small child’s spirit, alone and crying, with no sign of any Shinigami around. In fact, aside from the child, there was pretty much no sign of anything around. Until, that is, a rather prominent figure in the world of the dead showed up. A canine-like Hollow with the eyes of a cold-blooded idiot, Moon Moon leapt into the non-existent fray, occasionally mistaking his own tail for an enemy. In fact, this happened to him so many times in the space of a few minutes, that if there was a health bar above him, it would have been depleted a minute amount by now.
After much haphazard dashing, Moon Moon collided with a post of some sort, and fell on his side. However, his crippling lack of brain power seemed to have dulled his ability to feel pain, somewhat – either that, or he was too busy being himself to display pain of any kind. Moon Moon straightened himself up as best such a stupid little creature could, and trotted up to the child. He attempted to growl, but when a growl came from Moon Moon, it sounded more like a cross between a bark and a whinny. This elected a bemused expression from the child, but an amused one nonetheless.

Words: 441 Notes: -- -- Tags: Moon Moon And the science gets done And you make a neat gun Since she hadn't been completely kicked out of the Soul Society, Ariella still had her shinigami duties to tend to. When she sensed a hollow, she made her way in its direction with haste. She had been wandering around trying to avoid other shinigami just because of her recent track record. A hollow would make for something interesting. There were all kinds of things she could learn some things about them, though there wasn't a lot that was that secret about them anymore. Perhaps she could learn if they could be drowned in oil, or fried and survive. she had started to take quite the interest in fast food. It was really starting to show.
When she reached the place where she felt the hollow, she spotted a small child, noting the chain on its chest. That would have to be something else that needed to be taken care of while she was there. It was a second priority though. The actual hollow was what caught her attention. It was running with eyes clear on the child, hardly anything in its way. Ariella was about to act, but then something happened. In all of the clear space, the canine hollow ran face first into a post, bringing itself and Ariella to a sudden stop. She didn't quite understand what had happened, or why the thing was thrashing about now. It had decent motor skills before. Now it seemed to completely shut off. Had it hit its head that hard?
Ariella got over her initial surprise, surprise that showed so much on her expressionless face. She walked over, not seeing any reason to rush. She bypassed the child completely, figuring he could be dealt with later. It was enjoying itself anyway. Instead, Ariella strode right over the the struggling canine. She locked eyes with it, seeing no signs of intelligence in the depths of the beats eyes no matter how hard she looked. Was this an entirely new class of hollow? Maybe there was a class so low they hadn't seen one of them yet. It wouldn't be impossible for other hollows to kill in no time flat.
The visored didn't stop until she was right in front of the hollow. She leaned down to his eye level, still staring hard. She was completely silent for a few minutes, a thousand thoughts running through her head. "What are you?" she finally asked in a flat tone like she was really expecting an answer from the challenged hollow. Not only was it basically her sword enemy, but the fact that she expected it to have words was a bit ridiculous.

Moon Moon initially ignored Ariella, focussing on gnawing on the child's leg ineffectually. The child, who would have normally been frozen in fear, or would have long since run away, was instead in hysterics at the ridiculous display before it. Moon Moon was chomping on its leg like no tomorrow, and for all it did, the only thing the child seemed to feel was a tickling sensation. And yet, Moon Moon did not relent. Not because he was determined, not because he had no other choice - but because he did not have the mental capacity to process the fact that he was not doing any harm to his target.
However, once he was spoken to, he released his 'grip' on his target, and turned towards Ariella. Twice. In a full circle. When he did manage to see that it was her who had spoken to him, he growled a little, though it would have been extremely difficult to tell that this was a growl. He retained enough of a brain to know that Shinigami were the enemy, but he had no idea why, and if he did have to fight one, it was unlikely that he would come out on top. After a few moments of staring and growling, Moon Moon stopped, and perked his ears up. The child had wandered over and had begun petting him, to which Moon Moon responded by...
Purring.
It was hard to tell how, but when you took into account everything else that was seemingly impossible about him, purring was the least of anyone's concerns.

Words: 441 Notes: -- -- Tags: Moon Moon And the science gets done And you make a neat gun The hollow didn't seem to comprehend what was going on, or at least not much of it. It knew enough to growl at her, which was all but terrifying to tell the truth. Even that that didn't last long though. The beast was easily distracted by the young spirit that was now petting it affectionately, like it was some kind of house pet. Ariella noted the weird noise that came out of the back of its throat. It was definitely not a sound a normal hollow would make, let alone a canine-like one. This was very peculiar.
Ariella crouched down in front of the hollow, she shooed the child away with her hand, not even glancing up to see if the spirit followed her instruction. Instead she looked at the hollows mouth, leaning closer toward it. It could have easily snapped at her, but it likely didn't have the ability to do such a thing. Not to mention she wasn't going to give it much time to. After a few moments she reached up to seize its jaws, trying to pull them open with more than enough strength if she got the hold she wanted.
"You're odd" she said plainly, staring down the hollows throat if she could get it's mouth open. Though her face was void of expression, her eyes were filled with interest in the creature. It might have been a compliment at first, but then the fact that it was her came into play. She had already chased down, kidnapped, and tried to run dangerous tests on a simple fullbringer. All kinds of experiments were running through her head for this hollow. She wanted to take it home with her like some stray dog, only for less lovely reasons than companionship. She released the hollow's mouth, though she didn't move even one inch back, leaving herself open. HAN: 7 REI:13 HAK: 10 SEI: 12 BUK: 7 HOH: 10

The child, having formed the sort of instantaneous attachment to a friendly animal that children usually do, refused to leave Moon Moon lone with Ariella. Instead, it went to Moon Moon's side, crouched down by it, and began cuddling it Moon Moon did not seem to notice this - and thus, did not react. Instead, he was focussing more on the fact that Ariella was staring directly at him. He simply stared back - as best as he could, with each one of his eyes slowly moving away from each other. His expression did not befit a Hollow - it was the kind of expression an idiot would make if you halved the umber of brain cells required.
Moon moon actually managed to utter some sort of weird cross between a whinny and a dog's whine, when his moth was forced open. Powerless to do anything but remain in place, or perhaps thrash about aimlessy, Moon Moon took the course of action that would make the most sense for him. He fell onto his rear, in a position resembling most dogs would take when asked to sit. Moon Moon uttered the same cry again, though notably smaller this time around, and somewhat more pitiful. And yet, he seemed unable to process the fact that his mortal enemy was holding his jaw open just to investigate him. It would be a miracle if he noticed his jaw was open at all.
Once released, however, Moon Moon took his chance to counter-attack. That is to say, he lunged suddenly for Ariella's arm, likely intending to cause some form of injury. It went without saying that he would likely not succeed in even doing so much as piercing her skin. If he did manage to bite her, it would be like having an arm stuck behind a seat while reaching for something. Uncomfortable, but easily resolvable. However, if she didn't try to shake him off, Moon Moon's vice-unlike grip would likely allow for him to remain attached to her. He growled, but coming from him, it would likely sound rather pathetic.

Words: 400 Notes: -- -- Tags: Moon Moon And the science gets done And you make a neat gun Ariella wiped her hands off on the Hollows fur, finding that she disliked having dog hollow mouth slime on her hands. It was almost as bad as water. As she did this though, he arm was complete open to the... "attack" the hollow launched. Its jaws locked on her arm, and the damage was so incredibly.. underwhelming. Ariella's face looked more bored than normal if that was even possible. She gave a few tugs, only to find that for some reason the hollow was able to keep its grip on her arm. At least it wasn't completely useless, just mostly, and what it was good at served little to no purpose. She had truly stumbled upon quite the hollow it seemed. There was just one thing getting in her way.
She glanced over to the side of the canine beast, eyeing the child that was still hanging around, sticking so close to the thing that probably should have wanted to eat its face off. It was a bit of a hazard. She let Moon Moon have her arm for the time being, not seeing that much of an issue with it as of yet. With her other hand though she reached forward, pressing her hand against the child's forehead, giving a slight push. It would probably be enough to get it off of the hollow. That done she shooed it away again with a serious face. She wasn't interested in it right now. That was all of the attention the young spirit got from her though.
The slobber from the hollow was beginning to seep down her arm. Ariella was left with a gross feeling, a shiver going down her spine. Her eyes slowly turned from the child to those of the hollow. She did not look amused in the slightest. Her free hand shot to the beasts jaws once again, pulling up as her arm pushed down. It was more than likely that her strength would allow her to free herself. As she puled her arm out of that disgusting grip, she put some more push with her other hand, possibly sending the hollow flipping over itself. It was halfway because she was annoyed with the thing. She also wanted to see how it would react though. Its motor skills were... clearly lacking, and it was only her duty to study exactly how handicapped this thing was.

Moon Moon clung on for dear afterlife, retaining his expression as he did so. It was actually quite astounding how well he gripped Ariella, and how persistent he was in doing so. He likely would have noticed the fact that his jaws were supposed to hurt, if he had any semblance of intelligence. Instead of pain, however, he simply felt nothing there. Whether it was due to not having the mental capacity to do so, or whether he was just able to ignore it, was not clear. What was, however, was the fact that he was not going to let go without a little bit of a fight.
The child, though reluctant, backed off. It stayed back, however, instead of running off. Not to wait for Ariella, but to get back to playing with Moon Moon when he was done fooling around. He did not actually suspect that there was the possibility of Moon Moon biting his face off, or any other appendage, for that matter. Nor was there any possibility. The fact was that Moon Moon was unable to even do so much as eat a soul. Quite how he survived so long is anyone's guess, but it was widely theorised that there was something different about him. Purely rumours, but a subject of intrigue nonetheless.
Moon Moon was easily taken off of Ariella's arm, and made one of his signature odd noises upon being thrown to the floor. Strangely, this did not seem to faze him much, as he managed to right himself but a few moments later, with no immediate sings of injury. He likely should have had a sore jaw, but the expression on his face implied that he was far too braindead to actually process something like pain. He paced up to Ariella, once again growling pathetically, attempting to intimidate her. However, given how he looked, and how he sounded, one would not be blamed for not realising he was threatening her.

Words: 374 Notes: -- -- Tags: Moon Moon And the science gets done And you make a neat gun The hollow recovered just fine. That was.. well weird. This thing never ceased to find ways to surprise her. That only made her want to figure it out even more. She stared at it intently, almost like she was in a trance of sorts. It was just as captivating as stripping fullbringers. She eyed it as it walked back up to her, trying to be threatening or something. It wasn't very effective to say the least. The amount of fear it struck into her was equivalent to how many times she smiled in her life. It was a whopping negative number. Yes, this hollow was a fearsome beast indeed.
Rather than tremble with her overwhelming fear, Ariella reached out to the hollow once again. This time she was a lot faster though, and not reaching for its mouth. She instead aimed to hoop one arm around its neck while the other held the best to her. She had every intention of kidnapping it right now. She could do a lot more in her lab, away from the child who was still in her way. Oh yeah, she had forgotten about that thing. She stared to the child, not even blinking. There was a bit of an issue with releasing its soul so it could move on. That required her zanpakuto which was nicely sheathed at her side. Her hands were somewhat busy though. She narrowed her eyes, knowing what she had to do.
Just as quickly as she had grabbed the hollow, Ariella had to release it in favor of doing away with the child. Her hand instantly shot to her side, drawing her zanpakuto from its sheath. She spun the wakizashi around in her hand and lunged at the child. The visored practically rammed the blunt end of the weapon into the child's head. It may have been a bit rough, but honestly she was in a hurry and it would still get the same job done. Just as soon as she did that, Ariella resheathed her zanpakuto and spun around, expecting to see the canine running away. If he had any brains, he should have been. Ariella didn't get to attached to that idea. she knew better by now.
