Gotta go fast
The streets of Karakura town were ever busy as always, even at night. The full moon floating what seemed like mere feet away graced the town with it's coruscating light, inviting all of the fiends that go bump after midnight to come out and play. The regular humans couldn't see them, but that didn't make them any more oblivious, or safe in the slightest. In fact, it made them the biggest targets. Getting devoured by something you can't even see, what a horrible way to go out.
Kain's ears perked up, displacing the tufts of hair that covered them, as he heard one of those things cry out in the distance. A discordant screech so vociferous, it baffled him how no one else around could hear it. He didn't know what they were called, or even what they were. All he knew about them was their vile tendency to devour humans, and that their faces reminded him of those old-timey opera masks, but more sinister.
He usually ignored them, so long as they were leaving well enough alone. They often ran about with no purpose, and disappeared as quickly as they emerged from wherever they're from, but occasionally they got hungry or bored, or both. The young man quickly realized that this was one of those occasions, as he heard the sound of squealing tires and shattering concrete in the distance, approximately one block off from his current location.
Rising from his seated position from the hood of his beloved van, his traveling home, he exhaled deeply. He didn't like dealing with these things. They were frightening and powerful, and almost always sent him away with life threatening wounds. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like anyone else was able to see them --as far as he knew--, so by default, he was tasked with handling them. It's not like he could stand idly by as people were devoured unknowingly.
Slightly spiking his Reiatsu, he waited for it to wise up and head after him. Dealing with a few of these things made him come to realize, they didn't simply go after humans randomly. They went after people with strong life forces, something that just emanated from you subconsciously. He'd always noticed other people with that "thick air" feeling about them, and he'd come to the assumption that these beasts could as well.
"Come on out. There's a tasty person here for ya." He spoke aloud, walking away from the grassy park he had his van stationed at, with the idea to lure it away from places with a multitude of people. Fortunately, Karakura high was empty this time of night, and the field around back would be a fair place to fight with minimal destruction. He needed somewhere wide open to make use of all he could do, anyways.
Unfortunately, the hollow was fast. Much faster than he'd originally anticipated, and on top of that, it was agile. Catching up to him long before he made it around back to the field, it confronted him in the street just before the school, making it's presence known by tackling him from behind. The sheer force behind the tackle sent him flying about 15 feet, his body sliding on the rough pavement.
Scrambling to his feet with nothing short of bloody scrapes on his hands and arms, Kain turned around to face his assailant. A quadrupedal hollow, it was roughly 7 feet in length from mask to tail, standing around 4 feet from it's paws to the tip of it's mask's horns. With a tail covered in sharp edges that seemed to scream 'we wanna puncture you', it didn't look like the cuddly type of animal Kain would try to play with.
"Right. Gonna deal with you, nice and quick-like." The words were filled with resolve, but the underlying tone implied uncertainty. This hollow was faster and stronger than the other ones, and Kain wasn't quick on his feet like other people. Even in school, he was the slowest kid in gym class, probably because he didn't give a shit about runnin' away.
As his red and white polka dotted scarf began to glow an incandescent crimson, the hollow screeched once more, charging at him head on, with it's tail flailing wildly behind it. The armor burst forth from his scarf, shrouding him in a solid reiatsu that mimicked that of a hollow's. For a moment, it even confused the charging beast, as it stopped and cocked it's head at him, but the confusion faded in seconds, as it continued forward with the same velocity as before. Apparently it'd decided that fellow hollow or not, it was going to devour him.
Grimacing behind the mask of his current form, Kain gritted his teeth. "I hate the feeling I get when I use this thing. I feel like a monster." While he loved his scarf, this form didn't gain the same love. Something about it made him feel...malevolent, when it took hold of him. However, if it meant not being eaten alive by these things, then he had no objections.
The hollow had by now made it's way into a range where it could swipe at Kain with it's tail, and it did so. Too slow to react in time to block it, he took the blow directly to the chest, with the sharp protrusions on the tail scraping against the chest plate of his armor. Thankfully, his armor was much denser than the hollow's body itself, making taking such a hit an easy endeavor. As he flew backwards from the force of the hit, he gripped the beast's tail with his clawed gauntlets, pulling it along with him as they both flew through the fence around the school, struggling to overpower the other along the way.
Soon the fight had made it's way onto the front steps of the school, Kain being badly overpowered by the hollow's raw speed as time went on. A few blows to the chest here and there, a few to the head... if it weren't for his fullbring being a clad type --something he didn't actually know--, he would have been dead long ago. He wasn't able to get a real hit in until the mindless creature made a foolish move and decided to cease using it's tail for a less conventional method of attack, and attempted to headbutt him.
Maybe it's tail was sore from being constantly batted away by the jagged edges of Kain's armor, who knows, but using your head to attack someone in a former vasto lorde's shell isn't a very smart move. As it attempted to collide with Kain's chest, the maw on the armored plate opened by itself, startling the young man as it let loose a sound comparable to a roar. "Wha-" Before he truly had time to react or speculate, the mouth spewed a wave of flames at the hollow, causing it to fall to the ground, screeching in pain. Moments later, the flames exploded, taking out the entire entrance to the school, as well as turning the beast into nothing more than a pile of ashes.
Shattered glass and concrete flew everywhere as the entryway to the school was set ablaze from the explosion. Kain himself was thrown off to the side somewhere like a rag doll, his armor fading away just after he'd landed on another rough pile of concrete to the west of the school's entrance. For a few brief moments, he was unconscious, however, lucky to be alive in the first place, as he wouldn't have survived his "own" attack had he not had his scarf.
When his eyes finally opened, he could hear police sirens, and they were awfully nearby. "Shit." He muttered to himself, struggling to make his way to his feet. Blood dripped from his mouth and a gash on the side of his face, wounds the hollow had left him as a parting gift. He knew if anyone were to see him around the scene of the school, they'd assume he was some sort of terrorist or arsonist, and it's not like he could tell them he was out fighting demon ghosts when his armor suddenly turned into a dragon and exploded shit.
Making a break for it, he ran as quickly as he could down one of the back streets that connected from the main road the school was on. It led to a section of Karakura down where the night life really shone. Strip clubs, casinos, drug dealers, it had it all, and the cops never dared come here. As long as no one in the area felt like being an asshole, he'd be safe here until the heat died down.
His breathing was heavy as he stopped in an alley to lean against the wall of a strip club, around by the back exit. Cupping his hand to his head, he waited until the bleeding began to stop. It was a shallow cut, but it's proximity to his temple caused it to bleed fervently. The smell of ash and flame lingered in his hair and clothing, making him grimace each time he was forced to breathe it in. He knew he'd be fine however, he just needed to keep away from people for a while. Hopefully no one bothered to follow him as he ran down the streets, that would be a real drag.
