In the depths of the Kido Corps was an extensive training area for Kido. It was a wide open area, with plenty of targets, that had suffered many blows from several different types of Kido. There were human sized targets and then just the regular sized targets. Standing about fifty meters from one of the targets was none other than the unfamous Rin Minatsuki. Captain of the Kido Corps. Really, she wasn't even considered part of the Gotei 13, but a special division. Oh well, she was a Captain none the less.
Wearing her traditional Captain's robes she had two fingers pointing at one of the far off targets. "Byakurai Number 4!" She yelled out, as lightening leaped from her finger tips nailing the metal target. It went down for a minute, as it took the impact of the lightening then flung back up a moment later. She looked around, she was currently alone in the open training area. Although anyone from any number of other divisions was aloud to grace these grounds if they choose.

Today happened to be the one day Saito had off, but for the life of him, he couldn’t quite figure out what to do. He didn’t feel like hitting the town – he wasn’t a day drinker, so to speak. There was little chance that he would want to slay Hollows on his day off, and they weren’t even that abundant that day anyway. Bar his habit of donning (and looking quite fetching in) women’s clothing, he didn’t really have any hobbies, so to speak. He sighed – today was probably going to be another boring day, much as he hated to admit it. So, with little else to do, he decided to hit the training grounds, and buff up on some of his lesser-used spells.
When he got there, however, he was surprised to see his senior there as well. However, when he thought about it, it didn’t really seem that illogical. Paperwork was probably going slow today, and despite the ongoing war and conflicts, there was little for the actual captain to take care of. He decided to enter, bowing politely to Rin as he entered. “Captain.” He said, flatly. A standard greeting, nothing particularly special. Inoffensive was probably the best way to describe it. Saito took his place a few meters across from Rin, and aimed his right hand, as if imitating a handgun. “Hado number fifteen, Shageki.” The bang was loud, and the human target was struck, but the shot had hit it in the shoulder. Saito frowned – he was actually aiming for the heart, or at least for the sternum.

With clam day there stood three tasks for the day: polish up on a skill, gather supplies for the barracks, and find time to get in some quality time with a nap. One must work hard before resting easy though. For that task, Static had taken it upon himself to work on his worst skill, Kido. The training ground for the new shinigami was never much fun, but the place set up by those in charge of the art had a much better system set up. With human sized targets and the occasional custom target out on the field, it seemed much more like a game and less like dull practice. Perhaps the idea that he had to have fun with it was the reason he never could advance as well with kido, but Dagger wasn't about to let one of his few releases in this place go away.
A loud bang rang in his ears as he stepped into the halls. 'Seems I'm not the only one toiling away today.' Raising his hand up and smiling at the backs of the two, Static's quiet greeting to keep focus off of him...he was about to see what his studies afford him. He strolled casually down to scope out a few of the more 'out of the way' lanes.

The only thing that sucked for her Lieutenant, was because of Rin's busy-body attitude he almost never had any paper work to do. The minute paper work hit her desk it was done with in minutes. She never went out unless she knew for sure the majority of the paper work was done for the day, even if it did grace her desk at the oddest of times. She turned her head when feeling a presence behind her, she had quickly gotten lost in her own thoughts again. It was her Lieutenant Saito Nakai, who was about nine-hundred years older than she was. He said Captain rather flatly, but honestly she didn't mind. The training area held a really informal air about it. "Nakai." She spoke, in the same flat tone. Her words coming from a head that seemingly did not exist. Saito, taking his place a few meters from her fired off a Kido spell, and it hit the target, although it seemed it hadn't hit in the correct place as a frown quickly met his features.
Another Lieutenant soon stepped into the halls of the Kido Corps training area. Static Fellstrike, Lieutenant of Squad 9. Surprisingly enough he was actually about half her age, and not older than her as most other Captain's and Lieutenants tended to be. Although she didn't know him well enough to know if he acted his age or older. She turned her body towards Static, since just turning her head wasn't enough to tell someone they had her attention. "Hello Static, pleasure to see you today. How are you?" She said, as she looked out over the targets. There was a long bench a few feet behind her and she decided to sit down. Yes, she had wanted to do some training today, but she also wanted to get to know Static better. She knew her Lieutenant enough, but there was still quite a division between them, or so she thought.

Dagger had made some distance and was nearly at a lane where he'd be out of sight when the captain made his presence known. Stopping in his tracks he turned about to face her. His face stern and flat and his posture stiff and at the ready, as he had been taught from his years of training, "I am well Captain Minatsuki." With an abrupt 180 his face shifted from a focused scowl to a smile and his voice shifted to a much more friendly tone, "How are you today, Captain?"
She sat down and it seemed clear enough she was summoning him. Slowly retracing his steps, Static made a path closer to Rin, his gaze not wavering as he did so. He wasn't sure what she wanted, but all that had been taught to him so far stretched out to have him listen and take in wisdom. After all, most of these people have been here for a long damn time.

Truth be told, Nakai would have liked to get to know his captain better, but found it a little awkward talking to her. He was her senior by several centuries, but could not surpass her skill in combat. He was fairly certain he was the more stylish of the two, but when all was said and done, being able to pull off a cocktail dress better than someone else was hardly going to serve a purpose when fighting the Arrancar. He didn’t know how to speak to her – he was, obviously, far more experienced, and had seen war many times over. But Rin was his superior in rank – and it just felt strange.
Nakai took aim once more, and fired off a few more shots, though only one of them managed to hit the centre. Scowling, he dropped his hands, and studied the target. What was he actually doing wrong? Maybe he was just getting old. He was getting on a bit, even if he didn’t show it. But, given the ages of other Shinigami, this seemed unlikely.

Static, said he was well, and she merely nodded her head. Doing the motion a little more exaggeratedly, allowing him to see her neck moving up and down. He asked her how she was today, and she let out a brief yawn before speaking. "I am well. A little bored though. I came here after my paper work was finished, hoping to get a bit of training in." She said, as Static approached her more closely, and she looked up to him. Looking over at Nakai, she noticed that how he was aiming Kido. Aiming for the mid section, and only hitting it once out of three. She could feel his frustration, and wondered if it was part Kido, and part that he was much older than she was. While, she may have not been as old as him physically, she was as old as him mentally, if not older.
Absorbing all the knowledge of her previous Captain and Lieutenant, which very few people knew about. She was several hundred years old mentally, but far from this fact physically. It was all a matter of her body physically preparing itself for the mental knowledge she held, which she was constantly working on every day with some results. Getting up, she approached Saito, and stood behind him. Offering some words of wisdom. "It's not just firing the Kido and aiming. You have to feel the attack through your entire body. Channeling it through your core, all the way up your side, and out your hand." She made a motion with her hand, showing him she as smiling.
As she stepped up beside him, and as she spoke the words, she was raising her arm and aiming for the center of the target at the same time. "Byakurai Number 4." She said calmly, as a bolt of lightening launched from her finger tips and struck it dead center, the attack channeling into the ground. "It's all about centering yourself. Clearing your mind. Letting go of your frustrations. It's something the previous Captain and Lieutenant taught me." She said, turning her head to him, making a motion that she was smiling again.

The two were learning and experiencing a moment of growth, that wasn't exactly what Static had come for. He would love to get better, his time here would aid in his abilities, but he was here to blow off some steam and test a few spells he had seen before. Taking a quiet few steps a few lanes over to stay in ear shot distance, in case the captain spoke to him again, before looking down range. Lifting a flat palm towards the field, no particular target, Fellstrike began his chant "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh," a swirling red energy began to form at his palm. Forcing as much of his energy as he could into the swirling, yet shapeless, mass of energy as his chant came closer to a shout, "all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man!"
Everyone had said the spell was out of Static's reach, but mass of spirit energy was decently round and it was plenty large at the size of his skull. "Inferno and pandemonium," he called out, the red orb growing dark as it started to shrink down. ooc: I was out of my house for a week... <-< I mentioned it in the cbox, sorry I didnt pop it up in some place official. I am mostly back now though, still a bit busy... buuuut can check in once a day/other day.

While his chagrin at his apparent incompetency was evident in his mannerisms and expression, Saito took his captain's advice. She was, after all, his superioir in both rank and skill. While her age and appearance left him a little bewildered, he had seen stranger things, and his captain was more a curiosity than anything else, to him. "Understood." He said, acknowledging Rin concisely. He did no bother to say anything else - he had no questions, and had not shown up to make idle chitchat. It was quite possible that this antisocial attitude was why his subordinates didn't really respect him. Maybe it was the fact that he was prettier than most of the women in the corps. Whatever the reason, it was of little consequence to him.
Saito calmed himself, and allowed what thoughts he had to settle. He needed to concentrate. Kido wasn't something that even he could just do instinctively - it required patience, skill, and copious amounts of practise. He felt his energy run through his veins, a river of power coursing through him. He focussed it through his body, his arm, his hand, and then his finger. The sound of the chant filled the room, for what little time it had, and the shot was fired. And yet, despite this, Saito still failed. He wasn't getting worse, but he was still no nearer the mark than before. He scowled, annoyance at his own failure still niggling at him. "I'm a lieutenant," he thought to himself, "So why can't I hit this one bloody target? I'm one of the best, damn it!"

Out of the corner of her eye she watched Static. It seemed he was doing better, even though he didn't use Kido as often as she did or her Lieutenant did, he was definitely getting better for the few times he did actually come around. Her headless head peered down at the range as she watched Saito try again at the Kido spell. Merely saying he understood from the bit of advice she had given him. Inwardly she sighed, but didn't let it show on her outer appearance. Sometimes, she wished she could age herself hundreds of years physically so more people wouldn't feel as uncomfortable around her, or feel like she was talking down to them. It wasn't enough that the knowledge she had obtained from her previous Captain and Lieutenant exceeded eight-hundred or more years, but she also had to look it.
There had been a lot of tension in the Kido Corps since she became Captain. Paired with the fact she was headless, and how her Bankai had oddly developed there was rumors throughout the Gotei 13 of how she really became to be. She supposed maybe she should of stayed inside today and continued to read to better herself. It seemed no amount of training or reading would ever really better her or make her stronger. She watched him try again, almost seeing him go through the mental process that she had described to him, and to her surprise he missed. She was about to put a hand on his shoulder to console him but stopped part way and let it drop to her side as she simple spoke. "Practicing on a non-moving target, while not in the heat of battle is more difficult than one who is moving and wanting to kill you. I know, your skills. I have endless amounts of faith, that if the time ever came to hit the target, I know you would hit it."
She stood a little behind him and off to the right. Her hands were behind her back as her right hand held her left wrist as she looked down the training field. Knowing that Saito was probably disappointed in himself, and maybe even thought she was disappointed in him. But, that wasn't true, if Saito had learned anything from her, he knew that it was very hard for her to be disappointed in her subordinates because not all of them could absorb and hold information as readily as she could.(OOC: Yay, I got my 3rd post to keep my character for the month! )

Saito's frown switched to a face of distinct disapproval as he heard his captain's words. He knew what she was talking about, he'd been on the job long enough. Though he knew she didn't mean it, he found her words to be patronising, as if he didn't know what he was doing. He knew perfectly well how to fire off Kido - it was his primary method of attack. This wasn't even a particularly advanced technique, and it was one that should have been easy to aim. And yet he had missed the shots he had taken. He knew he wasn't perfect, but the target wasn't even moving.
He knew that practising on a moving target while in a scrap was different to just firing off whatever he pleased at a target lurking at the end of a firing range. He knew that his captain had faith in him. But he didn't care for her words, and if it wasn't for the need to act civil, and if it wasn't for the fact that she was his superior, he would have unleashed a monotone tirade against her. He would have ensured she didn't speak to him, and just allowed him to continue. He didn't know whether this was due to some past event affecting him now, or whether it was just stubborn pride, but that was how it was for him. It was nothing to do with her age - it was Saito and Saito alone. Or so he told himself.
Saito took aim once again, but to his surprise - and dismay - he missed. To add insult to his injury, his aim seemed to be getting worse with each shot. He couldn't understand it - whether it was his repeated failures causing his aim to worsen and thus trapping him in a vicious cycle, or some other factor, something was throwing him off, and the expression on his face was not the one of a happy camper. When he finally did lower his hands, he just shook his head, and leaned on the counter. He didn't speak, but then again, were words really needed?

Post by Kakiya Angelo on Oct 30, 2013 22:00:01 GMT -5
Clapping at the young male who fired a Kido spell but sadly missed his target, a hooded figured found himself in a specialized area made for Kido training. Captain Angelo removed his hood, revealing his untamed dark hair. This place was laid deep with the Kido Corps and Kakiya was amazed that such an area existed for this type of training. He leaped of the rock which he sat upon. Kakiya began to examine the details then noticed the three figures currently using the area. But they were no averages soul reapers. It was the Kido Corps' Captain and Vice-Captain but the last one name seemed to escape his mind. "Oh don't mind me. I'm just taking a small glance." Kakiya stated with a his signature smirk upon his face. There was a lot of similar equipment like the Second Division and quiet frankly, he liked to tasted out the equipment with his blades or fist.
He didn't wish to use Kido. Mainly because he wasn't that skilled even though Kakiya was a Captain. Kakiya strolled over towards the Kido Captain while stroking his cleaning shaved chin. "So, Kido Captain...what was your name again? Forgive me but I'm not the best with names." He admitted towards the group with no shame at all. Beside, it wasn't he saw these people everyday. Especially, when his face was always suck in papers or drowning in hot tea. Or perhaps, he never bother to learn this people names but either way Kakiya will learn of them now.
With his Zanpakuto being it his shikai form, it made it easy for him to carry, something he enjoyed. Removing, one of his dual-knives from it's steath, he began spinning. He stopped spinning the blade and began to focus, causing blue energy to wrap the dagger. Kakiya throw the dagger at one of the human-size doll targets without looking. Immediately, the doll shattered upon the dagger making impact. A large grin emerged. The idea of himself still being able to do such a feat was simply mind blowing. All that training from his former division served him some real good. Now, he wondered how the others would reacted. Kakiya extended his hand, prepared to shake his follow Captain's hand, after what he believed was a good entrance and showcase of his skills.

The air around Static let off an unsettling glow as he finished his chant, "that none shall escape." The shrinking, swirling, mass of energy shifted from a deep red to shrill green as the incantation went south. Much faster than before the sphere condensed down onto itself. Fellstrike called out, "Hado number thirty one!"
Before naming the spell the orb imploded on itself and from the nothingness an explosion of spiritual energy and pressure swept over the lane and area around him. Kicking up a thick dust cloud and covering the walls of the lane in ash, the dirt enveloped the air of the practice hall as Static continued to fuel the space where the explosive nothingness appeared. His attire was filthy and his face lightly covered in dirt and ash he focused, nothing would keep him from his goal. With the eerie feeling gone and the weight of a lieutenant's full spiritual force excreted he pushed and formed another red ball to his outstretched palm, his hand singed and blush from burns.

Rin watched Saito after giving him her bit of advice. She expected him to hit the target and had a small smile on her face, hoping her words of inspiration helped him a bit. She stood in the same exact position, and he fired off another of the same Kido, and missed... again. Her lips pursed, as she stood there, looking down the range. He lowered his hands, and shook his head. Then proceeded to lean on the counter, she didn't say a word. There was already tension between the two this morning, and she had barely talked to him today. She mentally sighed, as she continued to look down range with her headless form. Her head abruptly turned with the sound of clapping, as she glared, but luckily no one could see her glare, her smiles, or any facial features for that matter. Captain Angelo, Captain of Squad 3, the man proceeded to jump down from the rock he had been seated on and he started to speak. There was a smirk on his face, one that she had seen several times before with her briefest encounters of the man.
The Captain approached her, stroking his cleaned shaved chin. Rin Minatsuki was probably one of the more modest female Captains. She wore her full Captains robes, a book tucked into the robe with her book marked weapon. She even wore gloves, and she didn't show an ounce of cleavage. The only skin that could be seen, was the prominent features of her neck, and well, it ended there since her head was invisible. He asked her what her name was again, and said to forgive him for he was not good with names. "Rin Minatsuki. You are.. Captain Kakiya Angelo of Squad 3." She said, her hands still behind her back. Since she had remembered every single member of the corps, no matter how low or high a rank they were. She watched him remove one of the knives of his zanpaktou from a sheath. As he spun it for a moment, and focused, a blue energy wrapping around the dagger, without even looking. As it hit the doll and immediately shattered it. A large grin, as if he was satisfied with himself for making it look so easy.
She shook his hand rather reluctantly, as she spoke. "Nearest to me is Saito Nakai, my Lieutenant. Over there, is Static Fellstrike, Lieutenant of Squad nine." She said, giving his hand a surprising grip, as she quickly let go. Her hands going back to behind her back. "I had no idea that, this was how Captains greeted one another. I'll have to come down to the Third Division training grounds and destroy something, some time." She said, her tone completely flat. As she looked right at him, although for all he knew she could of been looking past him. Whether this mattered or not, she didn't really care, but, she hated replacing equipment. These devices were especially designed to withstand Kido attacks, not melee ones.

After firing off a few more - unsuccessful - shots, Saito simply relented. For the time being, of course. His mind was in disarray, and he needed to gather himself before he made himself look like any more of a fool. He was sure he was doing a fine job of it at that point, but didn't want to drive the point home that much. So, in light of this, he took a seat on a nearby bench, and leaned back. He had filled his days with hunting hollows, paperwork even his captain was too busy to deal with, and training. Perhaps he needed a break - a shopping spree at the new clothing store he'd seen? He certainly had the funds.
Saito took an instant dislike to Kakiya, the moment he walked in. He had never particularly liked the man - he had never particularly liked anyone, but Kakiya was a person that truly irritated him. The way he moved, acted, talked - it all added up to Saito wanting to run him through while he slept. The crossdressing Hollow hunter kept acting on such thoughts at bay, but he was still sorely tempted when he sensed his presence. It didn't matter that he didn't remember his name, though.. It was actually better that way - the fewer people that knew him, the more discreetly his missions could go.
Sait ended up just ignoring Kakiya's destruction of the doll. If he was frank, he was actually expecting the man to do something as downright arrogant as that. He really didn't know how to react - what was there to react to? That aside, this was something for his captain to handle. He still had to do the inevitable paperwork that came in for him, before Rin snatched it up. If he was honest, he was just looking to do something he could he paid for. He didn't care what, as long as it was monotonous and not tiring. He needed to regain composure - his aim was way off. and was getting worse with every moment he berated himself.
