He wasn't allowed to go to the human realm this time around, so he was stuck wandering around his home without his zanpakuto for once. He eventually found a somewhat peaceful place in the Seiretei, a empty park near the mysterious Kido Corps building. Wow, this is amazing, why is it so empty around here? He thought as he walked around the park, looking at the several small koi ponds and rock gardens. It was like someone had made this park to specifically be a stress reliever...That normally would have set off alarms in the Visoreds head, but it was so quiet here, he couldn't help but enjoy the peace and quiet.... |

It was a rather boring day for the Kido Corps Captain. She felt rather exhausted after a long morning of paper work and an intense training regimen she had endured through yesterday. Today she had woke up extra early to get any paper work out of the way, although she was sure when she came back to her desk that there would be even more to deal with. Oh well, that was something that could be handled later. For now she went to her book shelf and decided to take a book off from it. The book in particular she decided to read was a novel titled, "Spice and Wolf." She had started to read it but stopped part way through because she had picked up another book at the time. Now she decided she should just reread the book altogether. Grabbing the book off her shelf she quickly exited her quarters and made her way to the park beside the Kido Corps building. In an area of this park was an area surrounded densely by cherry blossoms. So densely that one couldn't see through them. There was a path that lead through the cherry blossoms to a clearing in the middle.
In this clearing was a small table complete with a bench on either side. She figured this was a better place than any. Laying herself on the table she went to her side, as she opened up the first page of the book. Smiling at the graphic there as she started to read. Quickly she was absorbed into the tale. Anyone finding the Captain might surely be shocked. Her right arm was supporting her head, although it appeared her right arm was supporting nothing since she really didn't have a head, in fact it was quite invisible for the time being. Another fact was that Rin often got deeply absorbed into her books. So deeply absorbed that someone could be standing right in front of her and she wouldn't even know they were there unless she said something.
Another thing about Rin she could be called a prude by most. Her Captains Robes were slightly modified to the point that no skin was shown beneath the neck. She even went to such lengths as to wear skin tight gloves that were easily able to grip pages because of the material they were made of. It was just how Rin was, the only time she ever revealed skin was when she was drinking. The Captain also had quite a history with drink and food. She was known to always finishing her sake, and especially finish a meal. Sometimes she'd eat a meal and request another, they never really understood where all that food went since she was small as a stick, oh well.

Intrigued, he started to follow the path and eventually came upon a clearing with a seemingly headless woman reading a book! Admittedly the headless woman initially made him do a double take, but he had seen stranger things during his stay in the Human world. He looked at the book more closely and saw the title, "Spice and Wolf" It was something he had heard many good things about while he was in hiding. Intrigued he walked over to the table and sat down on the opposite side of the woman and slightly increased the amount of reiatsu he was giving off, hoping to get her attention as it seemed simply sitting by her wouldn't do so. I wonder if this place is supposed to be private... He thought as he waited for her reaction, smiling, although nervously as he messed with the fur collar of his coat. |

Resting in her left hand was her book mark as she flipped pages. The bottom three fourths of the book mark was white while the top fourth was black. This was the appearance her sword took when it wasn't being used for battle and it was very useful to have it this way since she used it often. Rin was oblivious to the male who had walked into the clearing and had taken a seat across from her. Suddenly, she felt a bit of reiastu, the reiastu was tainted with hollow. Without even thinking her body reacted. As the book mark in her hand now took the shape of her sword and she swung it. Although the sword stopped mere inches from the boys neck. Looking up at him from the book he could see her head visibly move, but of course it was hard to judge her reaction since she had no facial features at all to be seen. Seeing who the boy was her sword admittedly turned back into a book mark. As she placed it into the spot she was currently at in the book. "Ah, my apologies, you startled me a bit." Her eyes glanced back down at the book as she closed it. Then she looked back up at the boy.
"Tyler Yamasaki. Squad 2 unseated. Am I correct?" She asked, no be knowing to him she had a smile on her face. Since people often got confused on how she was reacting to them she decided to pull out a piece of paper from the confines of her cloak along with a pencil. She drew a circle and in this circle a happy face. Turning it around so Tyler could see. "My name is Rin Minatsuki. Kido Corps Captain. I kind of made it my job to memorize everyone's name in the entire soul soul society." She said, now taking the picture and erasing the smile to put a smile that had teeth showing. A grin was on her face as she drew it and looked at Tyler. A Vizard, how peculiar, she wouldn't of acted the way she did if she didn't notice his hollow reiastu first.

Though when she saw he wasn't a hollow it returned to a curious form, that of a bookmark. He was just about to introduce himself when she said his name, squad, and rank as if she had known him this whole time! When she showed him a picture of a smiley face he assumed that it was her facial expression at the time. She then told him that she had memorized the names of everyone in the soul society while erasing the smiley face and replacing it with a grinning one he grinned himself. You're right, Im Tyler Yamasaki, Unseated Visored of Squad 2. He said as he looked at her book again. You know I've always wanted to read that but I never had the time to track down a copy of my own. Is it any good? He asked her, Wondering if he should take the time to go and buy a copy of his own to read. He then felt Nero wake up from a nap, causing him to try his best to mentally block out the hollow in his head while waiting for her answer.
But it seemed his efforts would be proven not good enough as he felt all of his barriers shatter. So why is everything so quiet dumbass? Not tough enough to go picking fights with people? He asked Tyler, making a jab at his strength. He would then promptly be ignored, causing the visored to start one of his old habits, twisting one of the iron bands he kept on his index fingers for no apparent reason. |

It was nice to see that Tyler was clever, and was understanding why she was drawing these faces on this piece of paper. Tyler introduced himself again, as he mentioned he was also a Vizard which wasn't hard. Anyone who could feel reiastu could tell this. Watching his eyes look at her book he said he always wanted to read it, but never had the time to track down a copy of his own. Then proceeding to ask her if it was any good. 'Yes, it is really good actually. It's really cute, and it makes you smile, and its... refreshing to see the interaction between Horo and Lawrence. Most books kind of just push two people together. I have a feeling that this is going to be a relationship that grows over the course of its several books." She said, tapping her pencil against the smiling face that was on the paper. Rin was still grinning, when it came to books she could talk about any number of books for an indefinite period of time. So far she had only gotten a little past the part were Horo and Lawrence first met, but she just had a feeling this was going to be one of the best book series she had read yet. Although she did just finish the Game of Thrones series, but that was great for a whole other reason.
"As soon as I finish the book I'll let you borrow it okay? It only takes me a day or two to read a book and there is like.. I think.. eleven in the series so far or more?! Agrh, I am so excited. I bet these books are gonna be great." She said, as she looked down at the book. It had Horo the Wise Wolf on it and she just looked so freaking cute. She wished she could bring her to life, to just give her a big hug and pinch her on the cheeks. Sadly enough she couldn't. But if she ever wanted to she could at least visit the world. Looking down at the book she knew she had to put it away or risk opening it again and ignoring this man altogether. Taking the book she opened her Captains robe slightly, as she slid it into an inner pocket. "So, what brings you here today Tyler? Just enjoying a nice day in the park or did you come here for some quiet time?" She asked nicely and sincerely as she made eye contact with Tyler, not that he could tell anyways.

So when she said she would let him borrow her copy of it after she finished it, which would likely be either tomorrow or the day after Tyler started grinning even wider than what he just was. Wow, Thanks! It's been so hard for me to find a copy of that particular book lately. he told her as she asked him what brought him to this park. Well, Honestly, I found this place on accident. I've basically been given the day off because everyone in my squad refuses to let me do anything, despite my relationships with my superiors, So I was looking for a place to just calm down and forget all of that, and I found this park. He told her as he looked around at the peaceful area around them, thoroughly enjoying this change in pace for once, because now It was a change to a slower pace rather than a faster one, which was what he had been dealing with recently. And honestly, It had stressed him out more than he let himself believe... |

Tyler mentioned how it was hard for him to find a copy of the book and she knew how hard it was for her to find this copy too. She ended up going to the human world and ordering it online and getting it shipped to a PO Box. Since it was near impossible to find the actual book at a book store. They had the later books but not he beginning books. After much searching she also got the next seven books in the series, putting her up to eight books she had in the series thus far. Now she was listening to him as he mentioned that he had honestly found this place on accident and that he had been given the day off because everyone on his squad refused to let him do anything. Hrmm... how peculiar. He was pretty new, and she hadn't heard the entire story about him but she supposed it had to do with the fact that he was a Vizard. Although she could relate to being different since she had been this way for quite a while now. Tyler was just looking for a place to calm down and forget about that, and now here he was. Looking up at Tyler she started to speak. "I know what its like to be different. I don't have a head after all.. well.. I do, its just invisible...." She said trailing off for a second before she started up again. "When I was younger, I got cocky, and tried to do Kido that was to hard for me. Some how the Kido back fired and well.. it made my head invisible. We've been trying to fix it for years but to no avail this is how it is for now."
She let out a soft sigh at the little problem she had caused herself so long ago. It was funny how things could happen like that and continue to affect you years later. "Oh well. I am used to people thinking I don't have a head. Or that I eat souls, or cart people off to their deaths or what ever. There is a lot of rumors floating around about me, but I doubt you've heard of any of them yet considering the fact that you are pretty new here." She said, tapping her pencil against the image to show that she was smiling again as she looked up at Tyler. Hopefully someday he could over come his differences and learn from them like she did. Considering the fact she was so young and held a Captain position was impressive on its own. Although she would of never held the position if it wasn't due to the fact of the knowledge she had absorbed from the previous Captain and Lieutenant. She may have been around the age of this boy, but she held the knowledge of almost eight hundred years she figured. If she added her previous Captain's age and Lieutenants age along with her own.

Then when she told him some of the rumors about her he simply smiled and shook his head. Even if I had heard any of them, I wouldn't have believed them. You see, Im not the kind of person that believes everything people say if I find it hard to believe. He said with a grin as he looked up at her again after looking at her paper again. He was glad to have met Rin, She seemed like the kind of person that you could get along with pretty easily once you got used to the whole Invisible head thing.
He really didn't have anything to talk about now that she had finished talking, but this conversation made him realize how much he missed having a good book to read, and how long it had been since he had last read anything good. Needless to say it made him happy that he would at least have something to read soon. He sighed before finally breaking the silence. You know, this conversations made me realize how much Iv'e missed just having a good book to read. He said with another smile. |

It was good to see that this boy wasn't stupid. A lot of the people here believed that she ate souls among other things. Although, she supposed she was one of the oddest people here and the youngest Captain also. The next words that came out of his mouth said he missed having a good book to read. A large smile was upon her lips, and she reflected this on the piece of paper. Standing up from the table, she motioned him to do the same. In a heart beat she was standing behind him. Moving up beside him she grabbed his elbow then they disappeared together. Next thing you know they were standing in front of her office. Sliding open the door Tyler would notice the wall to ceiling book shelves that expanded the entire room. Everything was listed in alphabetical order by author. All the shelves were made out of mahogany, the same as her desk that was on the far side of the room to the right. Walking forward through the room she expected Tyler to follow, as she slid open the door into another room.
In this room, were the same floor to ceiling book shelves. Except in this room there was a table big enough for six to sit around. It was black, all the floors thus far had been hard wood but the floor around the table was carpeted for comfort and pillows to sit on. In corners of the room there was large comfy seats and end tables. There was one of those cappuccino machines situated in the room on the far right with disposal cups, and there was also a large mahogany cabinet that housed her tea set and several different kinds of tea. "If you ever need a book to read. Come to me. I'd gladly lend one out to you. As you can see, I have thousands. Fiction, non-fiction, history books, psychology, anything you want I.. probably have it. If not I can always order it." Going over to the cappuccino machine she grabbed two cups and pressed the button. Dispensing the hot liquid into two cups as she sat down at the table, putting the other cup on the far side of her. "Here's a cappuccino for you. You can look around if you wish. Everything is alphabetized by author. You'll see the other Spice and Wolf novels on the book shelf, I got all the ones that I can get so far." She said, bringing the cup to her face. The steam from the cup parted around where her face would be, as she sipped at it gently.

He saw wall to wall bookshelves full of books! There had to have been at least a thousand novels in here! He actually had stopped listening to her the minute he walked into the room, but that didn't mean he wasn't paying attention, when she handed him the cappuchino he managed to shut his mouth and take the cup, bringing it to his mouth and taking a sip before placing it on the table. He had seen a single book, one he had been planning to read the day he had died, but then he had never gotten a chance to even start it. He smiled as he gently pulled the book out of its place on the bookshelf, the title was Beautiful Creatures, a book that he had heard was really good.
When he finally managed to stop staring at the book itself he turned around and placed it next to his cappuchino. Then he turned around and looked at Rin, smiling wider than he ever had in his life. This place is...Is...I cant describe how amazing this is! It must have taken you ages to get all of these books! he said, his tone showing how amazed he was that any one place could have this many books! |

She sat down, gently nursing the cappuccino. As her eyes gently followed him around the room. Opening up her Spice and Wolf book, she was going to catch a few more pages as he looked. From her book she looked up from it to see where he was at. At this time he was pulling a book off a shelf called Beautiful Creatures, it wasn't one she had read yet, but she believed it was on her list of books to read. Tyler soon came back, placing the book down by his drink. He smiled widely at her as he started to speak, saying this place was amazing and it must of taken her ages to get all these books. She nodded gently, as she drank some more of her cappuccino. "Some of these boos were already here. My previous Captain also enjoyed books as I do." She said, nodding a little more as she said these words, and her head could be seen because of the steam rising around it since the cup was still in her hand. "Anyways, I think that book is on my to read list, but your okay with taking it. The book has to do with two people finding out their ugly history of their families or something of the sort. I probably only glanced over the back, I more than likely picked it out since the art on the book is quite eye catching." She went back to sipping at her cappuccino.
"I am glad you enjoy my collection. There is where I spend most of my time, engulfed in my books. This, and I am constantly practicing various types of Kido, and always trying to better myself to the best of my abilities. Considering the fact, I am one of the youngest Captains in the Gotei 13. I am around your age believe it or not." She said, wisdom speaking in her voice despite out young she was. Likely it would come a shocker to Tyler that she was right around his age, since most of the Captains were much older than she was, heck, even some of her seated officers were older than she was. Some people disliked this fact, but the fact of the matter was, she had obtained her Bankai and they found out despite her being as young as she was that she had the knowledge of almost a thousand years under her belt considering the fact that she had absorbed the knowledge of both her previous Captain and Lieutenant.

Thats really close to what it is, but for the most part its about these two people finding love in each other, then they find out the histories between their two families. He said as she explained what she did in her spare time, but when she explained that she was about his age he was shocked! She was his age, but she had both her shikai and bankai?! This woman was turning out to be quite the interesting person. I see. You must have worked really hard to get where you are, and honestly I respect you even more for telling me this, especially since as hard as I've worked, I only managed to get my Shikai, so the fact that you've gotten both your shikai and your bankai is quite impressive. He told her, respect creeping into his voice as he took another sip of his cappuccino, the steam curling around his head as he drank the coffee. He would put the cup down on the counter next to him as several memories of his flashed by in his mind, causing him to take on a sadder expression without realizing it. |

She nodded at his response to what Tyler said about the book. Tyler was indeed quite surprised by the prospect that their ages were so close in relation. She wasn't exactly sure how old he was but she was sure they were close. The information of his age was in his profile but she hadn't cared to memorize the ages of each individual person. Even if she was a sponge to knowledge, there was a lot of things she simply had no need of memorizing. Tyler talked about how hard he worked, and how he had only obtain his Shikai so far and was far from his Bankai. She merely nodded her head to his response, as she started to sip more at her cappuccino. Putting the cup back down, she spoke, "I didn't obtain my Bankai through normal means. It was a time of war. My Captain and Lieutenant had both been struck down. I had quickly rose to the position of third seat. I learned by Bankai as a result of their deaths, and saved many people in the process because of it.' She said with a nod, although, all these nods couldn't really be seen by him.
Since she was in fact headless, he was only seeing the gentle movements of her neck and little else. "I've worked hard to get where I am. I self-exiled myself in these premises for a year before I finally came out. I feel like I can stand on somewhat equal footing with other Captains now. Still, people doubt my abilities. But I'm worthy of the title Captain, even if others think I don't.' She sighed a little bit, as she picked up the coffee cup again and started to sip from it.

The story interested him. When she finished talking she told him how she deserved the title of captain, even if others didn't think she did. Well I for one agree with you, from what you've told me you sound very capable, and if others don't like you being a captain? Well then-Excuse my language for a moment-They can just fuck off. He said as he took yet another drink of his Cappuccino. From what she had told him, despite the differences in their power, they were actually pretty similar. He could see where others didn't like her, but honestly, they really were petty reasons. And in his mind, the positives outweighed the negatives. |
