Shit, Jace swore to himself when he saw the bullets miss their target. He didn't count a graze as a hit; it was all or nothing for him. He hadn't been able to hit the Togabito with the pole, either, though he hadn't put much stock into the possibility in the first place. Maybe he had been showing off just a little. I know I have sucky aim, but... As the Togabito was talking, Jace was off in his own world, staring into space for a second. He was having second thoughts about fighting. It wasn't fear od death or injury. He just didn't want to end up being useless and getting in the way. That would just be embarrassing. But it would be even more embarrassing to back down.
Luckily, Jace had made his mind up fast, because the Togabito soon lunged at the blond. At first, he had to wonder if he was being ignored. That would have seriously pissed him off. But before he had a chance to get angry, he felt an odd... distortion behind him. The feeling was familiar enough that he wasn't going to stand around thinking about it. He hastily stepped to the side and pressed his back against the alley wall, just in time to see a bunch of shiny sharp objects go flying through the air where he had previously been standing. One of the needles had grazed his arm and tore his sleeve as he moved, but other than that, Jace had evaded the attack.
Although he was a bit suspicious after the sneak attack, it soon became apparent that there was nothing else heading his way. Now the Togabito was attacking the blond, with his back to the Proxy. Jace figured that he could get something ready while the two were distracted. He flicked his wrist, sending glittering silver droplets scattering across the ground. Those, coupled with the silver from earlier were enough to form a substantial amount of blades. Said blades started to rise from the ground where the liquid was spilled, reaching various heights before pointing themselves at the Togabito. In total, there were fifteen blades, each between two and three feet in length. They formed a barrier of sorts that would prevent the Togabito from moving backwards without jumping at least twenty feet. Even if he did jump, Jace could still send the blades after him.
Unknowingly, he had created a trap of sorts. The blond had released an odd scream. It was really loud; Jace's initial reflex was to cover his ears. But this scream would probably make the Togabito retreat backwards, where the blades awaited him. Of course, that had never even been Jace's intention. He just wanted to get this over with. So as soon as the Togabito was far enough away from his ally, Jace planned to send all of the blades shooting toward him.
