Tsubaki commanded Tatsuya to stop for a moment, entered her house, and came back with another two cups of tea for herself and the Visored. She then enabled him to continued with his story. However, the boy knew where this was going... he gulped, and continued the narration.
-After that, things were pretty much screwed up for me in the Sereitei. Almost all of my comrades and companions thought I was some kind of monster, that I could go on a rampage... Soon, my case became known to the other captains of the Gotei. They started discussing what to do with a Shinigami like me. Some wanted me out of the squads, others, they wanted me dead, and a small group, including Captain Toshiro, believed that they could help me out.
But having learned of the intentions of the other captains, I felt there was no place left for me in the Sereitei. Even Minami and Ken, who were on my squad, stopped talking to me, probably due to the order to only approach me in an emergency. I was treated like I was on quarantine. So I decided to leave the Sereitei for good. I waited for the perfect moment to leave, while I started training with my Shikai to become more powerful. I would need power if I wanted to survive.
One night, I decided that my moment had finally arrived. A letter had been sent to me last night, and I believed that it would be something like "Your judgement has been appointed....", but it was indeed from Minami. This letter is what I wanted to get. I need to check something... if she still... No matter. Well, at that time, I completely ignored the item, and left. I met at the Sereitei's entrance with my ex-captain, who allowed me to leave.
After that, I roamed the world of the living. I slayed every Hollow I saw, trying to protect both humans and souls, and buried many pluses to Soul Society. You, and I mean Shinigami in general, probably didn't like it very much, because you tried to spot me. I managed to escape from your patrol teams as they were my rank when I escaped. For you, I was a minor threat, after all.
But one day, the Gotei decided to bring me back, and thus, they sent a stronger team of three Shinigami. They appeared all of a sudden and I couldn't escape them, so I was forced to fight. When they revealed their identities, I was pretty much shocked. The leader was a Shinigami unknown to me... but his companions were other matter. -Tatsuya's voice tone raised a bit as anger filled him again:
-You had the guts to send my old friends try to capture me! I couldn't believe it! I didn't want it to be true, even when they attacked me! It was a three on one, and although I offered as much resistance I could, I ended up on the ground. Probably, I lost because I didn't want to attack Ken or Minami... and that bastard stood there, after commanding them to fight me, knowing I wouldn't be capable of hurting them! And he was right...for a while -his voice tone lowered to the previous level - -When I was on the ground, I asked my friends why did they do that. Ken looked away, and I could heard a cold "Don't make this more difficult, please..." from the back. It was Minami's voice.
Then, I comprehended... They were against me. They wanted me to return to Soul Society, to this place, where I would be saw as a freak for being an uncontrolled Visored. A fiend... that was the word the unknown Soul Reaper used. I was about to collapse... when I heard a phrase: "-Looks like the monster has been tamed... You'll nicely play the role of beast in a circus, don't you think?
At that moment... I snapped. I can't remember anything after that... Only that when I woke up... I saw my mask on the ground... and the unknown's Shinigami blasted, bloody corpse lying in front of me. All the surrounding area had been devastated... it was clear who had done that, isn't it?
The Kazan drank all the tea to regain the throat's humidity after that long speech. -Well, now it's time for you to judge. I want to get that letter and leave. Or would you capture me ir kill me for the death of that son of a bitch?

A light breeze blew through the garden as Tatsuya came to the end of his story, making the flowers sway as if they were part of a great ocean, at the same time a sad smile crossed Tsubaki’s lips, and this one didn’t fade away.
Why would I judge you? Because you’re a visored? Because you took the only decent option left to you after those you held close abandoned you? Because you killed a shinigami? None of those things need judging, in fact, I’ve been through most of those things myself, if on a larger scale. Let me tell you a little about myself. Nearly three hundred years ago, I lived in the rukongai, all I did was brew tea, but one day I spoke out against a noble, and suddenly the entire rukongai was against me, I was literally thrown out of my job, no one would speak to me, my home was even vandalized, all by the same people whom I had stood up for against the noble, I was forced to live in the rukongai forest for…a very long time. As for killing a shinigami, as I said, I’m the lieutenant of squad two, I specialize in assassinations, and with leaving a bloody corpse… At this Tsubaki’s hands began to grip the railings, the wood splintering slightly beneath her grasp.
I have very few memories before I came to the soul society, but one…I was young, it was the night of my death, and a man who was…important to me…was being tortured in front of me, my name on his dying breath. Just like you, I snapped, I took a pair of chopsticks and went at him, I ripped him apart, and even after he was dead, I kept going…I couldn’t stop…not until my own head was taken from me…So no, I won’t judge you for killing a man who didn’t deserve the position given him, and no I won’t judge you for being a visored, which frankly is more of a boon than a curse in my opinion, especially the way things are going.
However, I will say this. I take back what I said about you having no right to wear that uniform, a person willing to keep fighting hollows and keep working as a shinigami even after being outcast deserves to wear that uniform. Tsubaki closed her eyes, she didn’t know why she was opening up to this stranger, she hardly ever talked this much to anyone, not even her own captain. Why am I telling you this…anyway. Listen Tatsuya. I unfortunately can’t just let you go to get that letter on your own simply because you won’t be recognized, so I’ll have to go with you, also, afterwards…I want you to come back here, I have something to give you.

The boy certainly didn't expect to hear that answer from the woman. She, indeed, understood him, as she had been put through something similar! A feeling of joy and ease expanded inside the boy's mind. At last, someone was on his side... it had been much time since things were like that...
Tsubaki also told him that being a Visored could be more of a boon than a curse... Then that could mean... "-So... I will be able to control my Inner Hollow? -he thought, kind of relieved for a moment, experimenting with the possibility in his mind.
His thoughts were interrupted, however, by the woman's speech. However, I will say this. I take back what I said about you having no right to wear that uniform, a person willing to keep fighting hollows and keep working as a shinigami even after being outcast deserves to wear that uniform. -she told him.
After that, he commanded the boy to go get the letter, but with orders to go back to her garden... she wanted to give him something. -"What could it be...?" -Tatsuya wondered.
He did not loose any more time, and went straight to his old room, now remembering the location. When he opened it, he was pretty much surprised: nothing had changed! They hadn't touch his things; in fact, the only difference was the thick dust layer that covered the items and furniture.
The boy shifted to his bed and found the letter. He picked it up, blew the dust again, and stored it inside his Shihakusho. Afater that, he undid all the route back to Tsubaki's garden.
He jumped down again, and walked, smiling and lost in thoughts, towards the woman, awaiting for what she wanted to give her.

When Tatsuya came back Tsubaki had was bent over, pulling open a hatch in the veranda floor. You realize that I did say that I was going to have to escort you? Anyway, come down here. Tsubaki walked down the staircase that was revealed below the door, coming to a large metal door that she opened to reveal an extremely large misty room, a room filled with hundreds of bonsai trees and other plants, so many that it seemed as if one was standing in a miniature forest. Follow me. Without waiting to see if Tatsuya had even come down the stairs she began to walk through small paths between the plants, searching left and right for two certain plants.
She found the first one after a few moments, a small plant with black and white flowers, laden with red berries. Now this is the first plant I'm offering you, but first I need to ask a question, are you yet in control of your inner hollow?

Tatsuya scratched the back of his head and smirked at the woman's little scold for going on his own to get the letter. -Oops, sorry! I got a little bit carried away... -he said, following Tsubaki, who was leading him to an unknown location.
After little time, they arrived at a small room with a metallic door, which was opened by the Lieutenant, revealing a misty room with hundreds of plants, being many of them bonsai trees. The Kazan was surprised: would that place be the source of Tsubaki's delicious tea?
He was looking around, when he caught a glimpse of the Tasori, who was already moving. The Visored walked on a quick pace in order to keep her at sight. That room was certainly big, and he didn't want to get lost.
Suddenly Tsubaki stopped, and looked at a plant with black and white flowers, loaded with red berries. She told him that she would give it to him, but she had to ask something first. -Are you yet in control of your inner hollow? -she asked him with a serious look.
The boy gulped when she mentioned the beast inside him. He quickly recovered, though, and answered. -No... I am not in control of it... That is why I am so afraid of myself. Losing control is a posibility, so I do my best to keep calmed.
And why is it exactly you are asking me this?

So he hasn’t, I thought as much. I asked because if you had managed to gain complete control, then this plant would be useless to you. [/color] Tsubaki picked the plant up and pulled off one of the berries. Now listen closely, I developed this particular plant as a poison to hollows, in a concentrated form it breaks down their reishi, but unless it is concentrated, it merely suppresses hollow reiatsu, so here’s why you can use it. By eating one of these berries you should be able to suppress your inner hollow and prevent it from taking control for a short period of time, one to three hours at most. However, there is a warning attached. Do not get dependent on these berries, do not take more than one in a twenty four hour period, and do not take them needlessly. In a critical moment, you could need your hollow abilities to survive, whether you like it or not, so you need to gain control over your own hollow as quickly as possible, at which points you won’t need these, but when you train you cannot be under the effects of the berries, and if you do take more than one berry in a day, it could get dangerous, you may even seal your own abilities for an unknown amount of time if you are careless, perhaps permanently. Now there is a failsafe however.Tsubaki began to gently dig at the base of the plant, revealing a black pod. Once per year this plant produces a pod with nine black berries, these berries act as an antidote, meaning in an emergency you can negate the effects of the other berries, but remember, only nine per year, so use them wisely. Tsubaki handed the plant to Tatsuya as she pulled out another plant, this one with midnight black flowers, she reached down near the roots and broke off a small bulb, at which point the flowers turned white. Now this, this is the real plant that might help you, it’s the result of one of my best experiments, and don’t worry I have more, now, can you guess what it does?[/blockquote]

Tatsuya couldn't help but to gasp when the Tasori revealed that the plant she had handed to him produced a kind of berries that could keep his Inner Hollow under control whenever he felt uncapable to do so. A nice help in order to control it... although it wasn't a natural plant, as the Lieutenant had grown it specificaly to surpress a Hollow's reiatsu.
There were, however, side effects, and much like a human doctor would do, Tsubaki explained the Kazan a list of things he couldn't do with the berries. She explained that getting overdependent on them could be dangerous, as it could surpress the Hollow forever. -"Surpress it... permanently?" -he thought, touching the posibility for a moment.
However his thoughts were interrupted by the Lieutenant's speech, which had been resumed: there was a failsafe to the effect of the berries, in the form of a pod that produced another type of berries that instantly canceled the surpression caused by the red berries.
Without time to think about it, she handed it over the boy, who could only look at it, as the woman started speaking again.
-Now this, this is the real plant that might help you, it’s the result of one of my best experiments, and don’t worry I have more, now, can you guess what it does? -she said, looking at him and smiling lightly.
-Let me see... I bet it's something that has to do with my Inner Hollow... and if the other one was to surpress, and I can't train with it, then I guess this will allow me to gain control over my Hollow powers in an easier way?

Tsubaki smiled a little more at Tatsuya's assumption, there was really no way for him to know and it was a good guess, just incorrect. No, this one doesn't do anything with your inner hollow, and again, be extremely careful with those berries, I want to be clear, if you take to much they can possibly suppress your own shinigami powers as well, so don't get dependent. Anyway, this one is an early warning system.
These flowers change color whenever an unrecognized reiatsu comes near, turning a dark black, the reason it's white now is because it is not set to any single person. If you want it, then you can set it to your own reiatsu, the best way to do this is to simply place a little of your blood on the base, this will cause a small bulb to grow at the base, and it can be returned to a blank state, like it is now, by breaking off the bulb. What this basically means is that if you anyone other than you gets near this plant then it will turn black, giving you a warning in case anyone else is sent to get you, of course this only works in a small area, about the size of a normal kitchen, and those who can mask their reiatsu can sneak by, but it can be helpful. With that Tsubaki handed the plant over to Tatsuya and looked him in the eye.
However, if you ever betray the trust I'm giving you, I will personally hunt you down, and you won't escape me.

The boy was pretty surprised by the effects of the new plant the woman had entrusted him. Why was she so caring about him? He couldn't comprehend: he had just met her... but the truth was that he liked it. He had been on his own for a very long time.
There was however one problem with that: the boy didn't have a home. He wandered the Living World, surviving as he could, without a place to return to. Although that should change... but not for now. At that moment, he couldn't use that plant, as he roamed in open places.
The other one, however... There was something to it. It would help him surpress his Hollow. However, when the time to control its powers came, he would be untrained and with high chances of losing against his inner beast. Tatsuya couldn't afford that. Furthermore, he couldn't stand it. He had to be stronger than it, on his own.
-...however, if you ever betray the trust I'm giving you, I will personally hunt you down, and you won't escape me -the Lieutenant finished her speech with a glance towards the boy's deep blue eyes. The boy responded to the glance, prolonging the eye contact for a few seconds.
After that, he handed the two plants to Tsubaki. -Thank you, Tsubaki-chan. No one has been like this with me for... well, for ages. However... Although these presents are amazing, I can't take'em. The warning plant, because I don't have a home. I travel quickly around the world, and survive as I can. However, I've grown quite fond of Karakura Town lately... maybe I'll try and get a place to call home there. But that will have to wait until I'm stronger.
Also... now comes the other one. The Hollow surpressing plant. I am sorry, and believe me, it's not that I don't like it, but I won't use it. I am not afraid of my darkness. I'm not afraid of my Hollow- and I'm going to fight it on my own, and I can't have any help, because for him, that would mean I'm not strong enough to fight him alone.
I hope you understand... -the boy said, leaving the two flowerpots in the gentle hands of their developer. Then he looked at the kind Lieutenant and spoke again:
-I'm sorry I don't have anything to give to you... apart from my grattitude and a smile, that is. Also... I want you to know, even if I declined the offer of having those two plants, I accept your trust. I won't let you down, that's a promise. After all... what else can I do than keep saving Pluses and slaying Hollows? That's what I've been doing for so much time... -he sighed --...perhaps it's about time of thinking of a new goal, isn't it?

Tsubaki took back the plants and smiled, placing them back on the shelves where she had gotten them. She was surprised that she had found someone who piqued her interest and appeared to have common sense. She turned back around and looked at Tatsuya. She couldn't understand what it was about this person that made her open up to him, while she hadn't told him everything about herself, not by a long shot, he had managed in one night to get more information out of her than some people had in decades.
Good choice. It's always best to attempt to get a hold of your power before it becomes more of a problem than it already is.Tsubaki turned around and looked back at the door and sighed. Look, it'd probably be best if you got going, if people are still looking for you then you don't want to be here come dawn. Tsubaki turned back to her plants and picked up a pair of shears before sighing again as she began to prune some of the plants.
You know, you're the first person in a very long time I've opened up to? In truth, most people don't even know anymore than my name and position. Tsubaki put down the shears and looked up, eyes closed. Why... Suddenly she reached into her pockets and pulled out a small brown packet.Take this, it's tea, you'll find out it's flavor when you brew it. Tsubaki handed Tatsuya the bag and started for the door, pausing at the stairwell. Close the door...and don't...don't be afraid to come back.Tsubaki rushed up the stairs and out of sight, in a moment the sound of her sliding doors closing could be heard for just an instant until silence once again reigned.

Tatsuya watched as Tsubaki took the plants and placed them back, before turning again to him. She seemed to think for a few seconds, and then spoke again to the Visored. Good choice. It's always best to attempt to get a hold of your power before it becomes more of a problem than it already is. Look, it'd probably be best if you got going, if people are still looking for you then you don't want to be here come dawn -she said, picking the shears and pruning some plants.
-Yeah, you're probably right. I doubt the other members of the Protection Squadrons are as empathic as you are, Tsubaki. I've already got what I wanted, so I'll be... -he was then interrupted by the Lieutenant. -You know, you're the first person in a very long time I've opened up to? In truth, most people don't even know anymore than my name and position. She then handed Tatsuya a small brown packet, which she said to contain tea that Tatsuya would need to brew in order to discover its flavour.
After that, she rushed at the stairs in a motion that confused the Kazan greatly. She seemed... nervous, all of a sudden. Why would it be?
He was wondering, but then he noticed that the door hadn't open. The Tasori was still looking at him, and then, for the last time, directed her words to the Visored. -Close the door...and don't...don't be afraid to come back -after that, she dissapeared behind the door, leaving an even more confused Tatsuya inside her private garden.
-"What was that just now? Did I do something that upset her? Maybe I should've taken the plants..." -he thought, closing the door behind him, and trying to search for the Lieutenant, but he stopped, having decided that, if she was a bit mad at him, it would be better to leave her alone.
He went upstairs too, and walked towards the garden, ready to jump at the roof again, in order to search the place he had come from. However, he smiled, and drew his three metres long Zanpakuto, Taiyoko. He put the tip on the ground, and wrote one word, having no difficulties in the task although it would be almost impossible to write with that.
Tatsuya then jumped on the roof, and looked at his "masterpiece" "THANKS" was the word that could be read even from the top of the walls that surrounded the building. Half smiling, the Visored departed, ready to return to the World of the Living.
