To start off, Dark Kido are different from normal kido; but not in actual power or efficiency, only in the means they use to actually cast a spell. Dark Kido are pre-written spells inscribed into the user's body in the form of pitch black tattoos and glyphs, the forms of which may vary, but all of which are generally similar for their specific spells. Users with a wide arsenal of Dark Kido naturally have more tattoos, to enable them to contain more techniques. Instead of speaking an incantation as a means of focusing and releasing reiatsu into the act of Kido, Dark Kido uses a different means - a pulse of reiatsu rapidly producing an organized formation of energy extracted from the user, controlled by nerve responses forced upon the caster. It always manifests as a very hot searing pain from within and often inflicts some form of physical harm on the user, the severity of which changes based on the strength of the spell being used. In addition it takes roughly the same amount of time as an incantation would.
Dark Kido was produced after Kido, at first simply by rogue researchers in the pursuit of alternate and possibly more effective means of casting spells. Originally spells of this nature did not harm the users, but were weaker than conventional kido, rendering the technique obsolete at creation. But some rather demented officials whom were heading the project refused to let it end there and went to extremes to set their creation equal to conventional kido, using pain and injury to enhance the intensity of their spells, which led to Dark Kido. It was at first intended for those who had lost hearing or the ability to speak, but it was also found later that some users simply preferred it for personal tastes. Conventional Kido could vary more with the user's skill, while Dark Kido tended to remain consistent, as incantations could neither be skipped nor modified with it thus making it easier on beginners or those with a hard time memorizing countless paragraphs of arcane speech. However, it was largely unpopular and discouraged for it's unpleasant nature, never quite spreading far in usage.
The spells below are simply a sample for now. If this concept is approved, I would like to make more for both Hado and Bakudo. One who has Dark Kido must also have the appropriate tattoos inscribed on their body, though it does not matter where. More spells means more tattoos.
Number: 13
Classification: Hadō
Cost: Minor reiatsu cost; causes a small cut to form on the back of the user's hand from whence the spear is aimed each time it is cast, costing the user physically as well as spiritually.
Range: 1-140 feet; may increase with the user's power.
Incantation: Dark Kidou use non-verbal incantation; reiatsu is instead pulsed through black tattoos on a selected body part which is inscribed with enchanted black tattoos instead, using direct nerve impulses - pain specifically - as a substitute for an incantation. This takes about the same amount of time as normal incantation; neither superior nor inferior to conventional kido, it is simply an alternative from older times.
Description: A black, cone-like lance projects from the user's body in a streak of black energy, taking firmer shape as static-like red glyphs spiral around it's form. Each lance is approximately seven feet in length and 10.5" inches in thickness; the lances do mostly physical damage, skewering and smashing through targets at high speeds. However, once produced, the user may also put them "on hold", in which case they simply float near the user until launched forward. Up to three lances may be produced with one casting, but each one produced increases the cost of this spell. Highly effective against barriers, particularly if they are kido.
Name: Anryu Tenha (Dark Gemstone Celestial Destruction)
Number: 49
Classification: Hadō
Cost: Relatively high; also causes three cuts to form on the user's arm closest to where the tattoo used to cast this spell was placed, spiraling around the limb up to the shoulder. Each cut produces moderate bleeding that can become dangerous with repeated uses of this spell, costing the user physically as well as spiritually.
Range: Short to medium (1-70 feet)
Incantation: Dark Kidou use non-verbal incantation; reiatsu is instead pulsed through black tattoos on a selected body part which is inscribed with enchanted black tattoos instead, using direct nerve impulses - pain specifically - as a substitute for an incantation. This takes about the same amount of time as normal incantation; neither superior nor inferior to conventional kido, it is simply an alternative from older times.
Description: The user extends their fingertips forward, upon which a floating pitch-black sphere will form, surrounded by a hazy indigo-purple shroud of evanescent fog. It rapidly expands to form a much larger sphere directly in front of the user, roughly thirty feet in diameter, as it's outer shell hardens into a solid obsidian form. An indigo glow shines dimly from the sphere for just a moment before it violently explodes from within, unleashing black fire and sharp shards of black gless from the shattered sphere, dealing both physical and reiatsu-based damage to enemies within seventy feet of the sphere. Enemies caught within the sphere before it becomes solid take the most damage, though it is likely not fatal to those of equal power to the user. Oddly enough both the glass shards and the corrosive black fire of this spell avoid the user, inflicting no further harm on them beyond what casting the spell already requires.
Name: Manju Maon-Ken (Thousand Strike Demonic Chime Fist)
Number: 47
Classification: Hadō
Cost: Somewhat high; six shallow puncture wounds will form around the user's wrists upon performing the spell as well, all of which cause minor bleeding. Three uses increases the damage to moderate bleeding, thus costing the user physically as well as spiritually.
Range: Short; no more than 20 feet from the caster.
Description: From the six puncture wounds inflicted on the user's wrists, a black fog will gush forth from the caster, taking solid form in front of them as a pitch-black silhouette of the one who used this spell. This pseudo-duplicate moves toward a nearby enemy as a black smoky streak of putrid reiatsu, before morphing into a vaguely demonized shape and assaulting them with a flurry of high speed punches. Each punch feels exceptionally cold to the touch and is painfully numbing, likely to inflict heavy bruising and soreness soon after being struck. While the spell never quite strikes a thousand blows, an exceptionally powerful user could reach the triple digits in their own casting, but at the cost of suffering deeper puncture wounds upon themselves in using this spell.
