i'll do what i want | This seemed to be happening a lot. The day would start off relatively normal, and then, boom, shit happened. This time though, it wasn't a huge deal. No transvestites or serial killer chicks were coming after Gray, at least. It was just some weird-looking winged Hollow. The odd thing was, it was just flying in one direction, not going after anyone. Still though, in due time it was sure to attack someone, so Gray figured he would have to take care of it. It seemed that the Shinigami weren't around to do their job, like usual.
At least it was in the air; this made it easier to keep track of. But it was too high for Gray to hit. If only I could use that green light again, this would be easy. He thought, remembering how he had been able to jump very high very quickly in one instance; but it had only been a fluke.
Soon, Gray noticed that they were getting close to a forest. Good. With no people around, he could use Ice Cannon. That would hit the Hollow for sure.
It was annoying. As he ran through the trees, branches and undergrowth keep getting caught on his clothes, slowing him down. Plus, it was harder to see the Hollow with the topmost branches in the way. He couldn't afford to lose it now that he had come this far. In a matter of seconds, clothes flew into the air, and Gray was running full-tilt through the woods wearing nothing but his boxers, and those could possibly be cast aside soon enough. Not like anyone else was around, so who cared?
Then the Hollow slowed down and started circling. Knowing that this was as good as over soon, Gray brushed aside a large swath of leaves and stepped forward. He was planning to plant his foot firmly on the ground and get into the stance to create the Ice Cannon, but it didn't work out. As it happened, there was a lake right beyond the bushes, and Gray fell right in with a splash.
He got to his feet with a dark look on his face. It was only knee-deep where he had fell, but still, he didn't really like getting wet. And the Hollow had been circling right over the lake. Was it actually trying to make him fall in? "You think you're smart?" Gray growled, bending his knees a little and putting his hands together. The air immediately grew colder, and a thin sheet of ice covered the water around him as he got ready to use his Fullbring. Never once did he wonder if the Hollow had come to the lake looking for something. HAN ;; 8 . REI ;; 8 . HAK ;; 10 . SEI ;; 8 .BUK ;; 12 .HOH ;; 7 |

Tahno sighed in mild irritation. He had come to Kagamino in search of some rare artifacts. This was the most recent lead he had to go on and all he wanted was to pursue it. But he hadn’t even been in the city for more than ten minutes before he’d become aware of a large Hollow in the area. It wasn’t being aggressive nor did it seem to be looking for anything in particular. It was just kind of there, observing. And as far as Tahno could tell, it was the only thing in the city he really needed to be concerned about. For a brief moment, he considered just leaving it alone. He knew it would be difficult to track down any information on these artifacts if he waited too long and it was imperative that he acquire them. On the other hand, he could not in good conscience let this monster roam freely about and continue posing a risk to everyone around it. So, with another sigh, he let off a brief flare of reiatsu to attract its attention. Having caught its interest, he turned and headed for the city’s edge. He wanted to minimize as much collateral damage as possible. He also wanted to avoid being seen while doing so. Skirmishes were inevitably messy and the last thing he wanted was to be seen in disarray.
Once he had cleared the city limits, he paused briefly to withdraw Tianshang Shengmu from one of the many pockets of his coat. He quickly pulled his hair back and pinned it in place with the old jade comb. “Brzy budeme hrát, Tianshang Shengmu. Brzy budeme zářit.” Once the comb was secured, he leapt forward with a burst of Bringer’s Light. He steered himself towards some woods in the distance. It would be dirty and muddy, but at least he would be far from anyone. It wasn’t long before he was beneath the canopy of trees and only minutes later he arrived at a lake. Pulling on the water’s soul, he walked out to the center of it. This was the perfect playground for Tianshang Shengmu. He knew she worked better with her own water, but she never said no to readily accessible ammunition. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the Hollow to arrive.
Finally, the winged monstrosity came into sight and began circling the lake. Tahno smirked as the jade comb began to glow with an eerie green light. He had no intention of prolonging this one. One shot of Matky zuřivost and this would be finished. However, as he began to pull on the water there was a loud splash to his left – in the direction he had come from, in fact. He felt the water shift beneath him as the ripples from the splash reached him. Hollow and Fullbringer alike turned their attention to the source of the splashing – a young, mostly naked boy standing in the knee-deep water at the lake’s edge.
“You think you’re smart?”
Tahno watched curiously as ice began to form around the boy. There was also spiritual energy practically radiating from him as the ice spread around him – proof of yet another Fullbringer in the world. He would have found it fascinating were it not for the fact that the boy was interfering with his work. Tahno shook his head. The boy wasn’t even aware that Tahno was there. What an idiot. “Matky disciplína – bič.” Lifting up a hand, he pulled some of the water from the lake to create a single long whip. With a single flick, the water snapped out and slapped the boy squarely on the forehead. A few moments later, the whip had come back. “Matky zuřivost.” It split into what looked like a thousand long needles. He just held the needles above his head for a moment as he looked at the boy. “It certainly seems to be smarter than you,” he said, firing the needles upwards at the Hollow as it roared and dived towards him. It managed to dodge about half of them with ease, letting out a pained and furious roar as the other needles hit their mark. It swooped low over the water and Tahno leapt upward with a burst of Bringer Light. “Matky disciplína – oštěp.” Tianshang Shengmu flared brighter as the water under the Hollow formed into lance and pierced its belly. He landed lightly on the water’s surface again and watched calmly, filled with a perverse pleasure as the Hollow floundered in the deeper waters near the lake’s center. “Kéž Pán grant vám mír, spadl jeden,” he murmured. “Matky disciplína – řezačka na papír.”

i'll do what i want | Still focused solely on the Hollow, Gray shot his right hand forward, his palm pointing towards it. He was about to launch an attack of sorts towards it when suddenly, he saw something speeding towards him. Before he could react, it hit him in the forehead. The frosty aura around him vanished as he stumbled, his hand shooting up to his forehead. "Ugh." The Hollow had been too far away to hit him, so what was that just now? Letting his hand drop back to his side, Gray looked up and saw a man standing on the water with a bunch of water hanging over his head. Normally, he would have found it odd that the water was shaped into a multitude of sharp objects, but after finally realizing the huge Reiatsu this guy had, it became obvious that he wasn't a normal human; if the fact that he was standing on water wasn't enough.
Gray narrowed his eyes at the man's remark. Seeing the water needles, Gray now knew what had hit him earlier. So first, this guy had hit him for no reason, and now he was insulting him? That wasn't going to fly. He watched as the Hollow was brought down into the water by the man's attacks.
"What do you think you're doing?!" he called, obviously not too happy. He didn't care about him killing the Hollow, except for the fact that he had come out here for nothing now. But now wasn't the time to be complaining about something like that.

As the guillotine blade slammed into the Hollow’s head, the boy demanded to know what Tahno was doing. At first, he paid no mind to the query. He wanted to make damn sure the Hollow was dead and gone first. He could still feel the thing’s reiatsu as the water remained turbulent. “Zemřít a najít klid,” he murmured. He raised the guillotine blade and slammed it once more into the Hollow’s head. This time, there was a satisfying crack followed by a chilling howl and the dissipation of the creature’s reiatsu. At last, the end had come. Not as swiftly as he had hoped, but there had been a child present and interfering. Speaking of which…
Tahno finally turned his attention to the boy at the lake’s edge. He was slightly closer to it after having leapt away from the diving Hollow. He quirked an eyebrow as he looked the boy over from head to toe. What on earth had the child been thinking running through the woods in nothing but his boxers? Really, that was just irresponsible. “My business here is none of your concern. Run home now, little boy. Children like you should not be playing around with the things that go bump in the night.”

i'll do what i want | For a moment, it looked as if the man was just going to ignore Gray. It almost looked like he was talking to himself over there, but Gray didn't care about that. He just wanted an answer to his question, which was more or less an accusation. He had already been about to take out the Hollow, he didn't get why this guy had to step in. On top of that, the man had slapped him with water and basically called him stupid. It wasn't Gray's fault that there just happened to be an oddly well-concealed lake there.
He heard the howl of the Hollow as it died. Then the man finally acknowledged him. Gray couldn't really say that he was pleased with the response he got, though. "Huh?" was all he said for a moment. Was this guy for real? "If you hadn't noticed, I was about to take care of that," he said, referring to the Hollow. "I didn't need you to interfere. I think it's you who had better run home, before I give you a reason to." he said the last part in a darker tone. The other man had pretty strong Reiatsu; a lot stronger than Gray's. But that didn't mean he was going to get away with what he did. Though, if the guy just left - which probably wasn't going to happen - like Gray said, he would let it go. HAN ;; 8 . REI ;; 8 . Tahno couldn’t help but chuckle at the boy’s arrogant, immature response. The child was about to take care of it? He was obviously quite dense. He hadn’t even noticed the Hollow’s single-minded pursuit of a more interesting target. Honestly, had he not realized that Tahno’s power far outclassed anything the boy could bring to bear against the monster? Hell, a fight between the two of them would just be a joke. The boy might have control over ice – and this would be an ideal playground for him – but he was young and probably inexperienced. From his stance to his attitude, everything about the boy screamed untrained newbie. “You?” He laughed again. “Perhaps if you had paid closer attention to the Hollow, you would realize that I lured it here with my reiatsu. Did you not think it strange that the creature simply flew in one direction with singular intent – completely ignoring everything else? Your interference was unnecessary from the start.” As suddenly as the mirth had appeared on his face, it vanished. “I do not have time to waste on a weak, arrogant brat like you. I suggest you leave before I lose the last dregs of my patience with you.”

i'll do what i want | Gray's expression changed to one of anger when he realized that the man was looking down on him, not only literally, but figuratively. Not only that, but he had lured the hollow with his reiatsu? Who knew what could have happened if it had come upon an easier target along the way. Someone could have died just because this guy was too lazy to get off his ass and go to it. If there was a hollow nearby, Gray would go after it; he really didn't care where it was going or why. He had seen too many people die because of hollows, he wasn't about to just let them run rampant. And yet, here this asshole was treating it like some sort of competition. Gray couldn't believe it.
"But you have time to waste sitting here and waiting for them to come to you? Tch." he said, still looking pretty annoyed. If he hadn't been so infuriated about what the man had just told him, Gray probably would have left. He wasn't one to go around fighting random people unless they really screwed with him, like that Natsu. In this case, he was obviously outmatched, but did he care? Not particularly. Even if he didn't win, he wouldn't mind throwing down with this guy. He would make sure he landed at least a couple blows before he left, just to show him a little something about respect. Gray didn't let anyone look down on him without paying for it.
He was still knee-deep in water, but he didn't mind much anymore. He wasn't wearing a lot of clothes, so he wasn't weighed down. He just hoped that he didn't lose the last of his clothing. It would be awkward to fight this guy while naked, if it did come to a fight, which he was pretty sure it would. "I think I'll stay here. If you have a problem with that, well, I don't really care." Gray said with a smirk, obviously goading the other man on. His Fullbring was already activated, so he could react fairly quickly and make a weapon if he needed to. In fact, he already had one started, as was made obvious from the white frosty aura around his right hand. HAN ;; 8 . REI ;; 8 . HAK ;; 10 . SEI ;; 8 .BUK ;; 12 .HOH ;; 7 |

It seemed the boy was going to simply continue antagonizing him instead of taking the sensible course of action, if the boy’s angry expression was any indication. Tahno supposed that only made sense. He already knew the child was an arrogant idiot. So a lesson needed to be taught after all. It was a boring proposition. The child was neither a threat nor a challenge, despite the fact that he appeared to have an ice Fullbring. He tucked his hands into his pockets, silently contemplating the boy as he tried goading Tahno into a fight. Speed and dexterity would not be interfered with, due to the child’s current state of undress. And while Tahno’s Fullbring was still active, it seemed the boy was gathering reiatsu in his right hand – probably in preparation for an attack. Tahno sighed. “Fine, kid. You want to be a nuisance, so be it.” He stretched his left hand out and pulled a large orb of water from the lake. As it moved towards his hand, it shifted and compressed until it resembled a baseball bat more solid than any that a player would dare to use. “I will simply have to beat the nuisance out of you,” he said as he wrapped his other hand around the bat’s handle. In the span of a heartbeat he had flashed across the distance separating him from Gray, coming to a stop in a lefty batter’s stance – and within batting range. With only a moment’s hesitation, he stepped slightly forward with his right foot and swung at the boy’s right arm.

[cs=2][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px, bTable] COLD like ice that which stops even the time of life itself |
[cs=2][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; border-top: 3px solid #111; margin-top: -10px, bTable] Oh, I'm the nuisance here? Gray was pretty sure that Tahno was the one who had been instigating right from the start. Did he really expect people to do whatever he told them to? Even when he acted like such a tool? What a joke. He might have been able to treat other people like shit, but it wasn't going to fly with Gray.
"Yeah, right," he said in response. When Gray saw the water form into what looked like a bat, he was a bit mystified. He can make weapons from water? That was pretty close to his own ability. Subsequently, his other hand also started to give off the same white aura as the other. Dual wielding seemed like a better idea now.
Just as the mist around his right hand formed into a shortsword made of solid ice, Tahno disappeared from his previous spot. Judging by what he had said beforehand, there had to be an attack coming, and apparently it was coming fast. Instinctively, Gray raised the newly formed blade, only for it to be smashed apart by the bat. He even felt the force up his right arm from the man's swing. He was a bit shocked, but he hadn't expected this to be easy from the start; in fact, he didn't even expect to win this.
Instead of backing off, Gray swung up with his left, attempting to hit Tahno wherever he could with a similar weapon. He had opted to not solidify it, instead keeping it in a state where it would freeze over whatever it hit. If his weapons were going to get destroyed in one hit, there was no point in using them any other way. Oddly enough, he had not discarded the broken sword, as if it still had some sort of purpose.

As Tahno swung, he couldn’t help but appreciate the fact that the boy had decent reflexes for an untrained mládě. From the rapid formation of an ice shortsword to the deft attempt at blocking Tahno’s incoming swing, it was clear the boy had at least some experience with fighting. But at best, that would have been against lower-level Hollows. Still, he was both glad and disappointed that he’d hit the sword and not the arm. He preferred to incapacitate or destroy his opponents quickly rather than drawing out a fight. This wasn’t a training spar, after all. And since his swing had failed to connect the way he wanted, his body was twisted slightly awkwardly.
When Gray swung with his left hand, Tahno instinctively jerked his arm up to block the incoming strike. For a moment, there was the odd sensation of soft wet chill wrapping around his arm before it solidified over his right forearm. Before it could spread any further, he jerked his arm away and broke the ice that had formed a chain between him and Gray’s hand. He jumped slightly backwards to gain both space and time. Close combat was probably not the wisest route to take if it was so potentially easy to ensnare him in ice. And he had plenty of water to work with. Why bother with short range tactics when the entire lake could be a source of attacks?
Grinning, he released the water in his hand and let it drop back into the lake. He spread his arms slightly and took up his usual fighting stance – legs shoulder-width apart and his feet firmly pressed into the ground. As his fingers spread out, the water around him snaked up into six long whips. “You’re fast. Let us see how fast.” His hands flicked and all six whips lashed at the boy from several directions. He kept this up for several minutes, snaking the whips every which way to both strike Gray and avoid becoming frozen by the boy’s ability. It probably seemed that he was toying with the boy – and he sort of was. But it also offered Tahno the opportunity to test the boy’s reflexes. Now that he was settling into the groove of battle, he was reminded of his orders. Capture all able-bodied fighters for the Consecro. And it was undeniable that Gray was an able-bodied fighter. So he wouldn’t completely break the kid’s body. The Micans would be pissed if he did. Still…a few cuts and broken bones wouldn’t be the end of the world, right?
As he continued lashing at Gray with two of the whips, he let the other four drop back into the lake. After a few moments, he jerked his left hand up – dropping the last two whips and pulling the water beneath Gray’s feet upward in a spray of a half-dozen razor-sharp spearheads.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true]There's no need to change the past. Because of the past, we are who we are now. Every second, every action from then is linked to us here and now◣ | ◣Gray felt a spark of hope when his second blade started to freeze Tahno's arm. He had managed to hit the guy, so maybe he at least had some semblance of a chance. Still, he wasn't going to let himself get overly optimistic. The fight had only just begun, and there was the opponent's ridiculously strong Reiatsu to think about.
Gray was disappointed, but not exactly surprised when Tahno jerked his arm away and distanced himself. He was going to start fighting long-range now; Gray just knew it. Why else would he back away? Soon after, more whips of water - like the one that he had been hit by earlier - rose up from the lake. He was right, of course. But being right wasn't going to help the Fullbringer very much in this scenario.
Gray didn't say anything back to Tahno, instead eying the water whips, waiting for them to move. Though he had been waiting for it, Gray was still surprised when they finally did lash out. He hadn't expected them to be so fast. Getting struck a few times by the whips, Gray fell back against the lake bank. Mostly due to sheer rage at being toyed with again, he recovered within seconds, eyes snapping open to glare up at Tahno. He was still holding the broken ice sword from earlier, but not for long. Gray threw the broken blade towards Tahno point-first. Once it came within a couple feet of the opponent, Gray would forcibly deconstruct it, causing the what was left of the blade to explode and cover anything close to it in a thin sheet of ice.
Before he could do anything else, the water where he had been standing earlier surged upwards in the form of several spears. Luckily, the Fullbringer had been knocked mostly out of the water by the whips before hand, but his legs were still in the water. Before he could pull away completely, one of the spears made a deep cut above Gray's right ankle. Stifling a cry of pain, Gray dragged himself back into the bushes to buy himself some time, if his exploding sword hadn't done that already.
Shit... he got me pretty good, Gray thought, seeing that he had left a trail of blood and was still bleeding profusely. If he had still been in the water when the spears had formed, it would have been a lot worse. Was this guy trying to kill him? Looking up through the trees first to see if there was another attack coming his way, Gray got to his feet, stumbling only a little. White mist engulfed his left forearm, while red mist covered his right. Seconds later, ice blades jutted back from both of Gray's forearms, though the one on his right was red because he had used his blood to make it. The red blade would be a lot harder to break in comparison to any other blade he had made thus far due to what it was made of.
The fact that he had riskily used his own blood to form a weapon, and the fact that he was prepared to use Seven Slice Dance showed that Gray was taking this fight seriously now. Initially, he had never thought that the other male would try to kill him. But he had thought wrong. Gray didn't plan on dying here, so he wasn't going to go easy, even if he was outmatched.◣ | ◣TAGGED: Tahno ◣WORDS: 572 ◣NOTES: xxx

It was almost boring how easily Tahno pushed Gray back to the shore. Surely the boy could put up more of a fight than this? He met the boys glare with a steady, calculating gaze. Beyond the fact that he was thinking, there was no indication as to what was running through the Obelisk’s mind. The truth was that he had settled into the Artemis mindset – the hunter had come out to play. And the hunter knew it was folly to let the enemy see your thoughts and read your feelings during a battle. Such things were too easy to exploit. Calm and collected won wars more easily than blind emotions. This was a fortunate frame of mind to be in, for the boy lifted his sword and threw it at Tahno like a javelin. It was an interesting tactic, but swords were not javelins. It flew at him and he deftly leapt to the right, pulling at the water’s soul to speed him along.
What he wasn’t expecting was the explosion of ice that came a moment later. He hadn’t moved far enough to avoid the resultant spray of frigid water. It rapidly froze over him from shoulder to toe. He frowned very slightly as he looked at the thin sheet of ice covering him. Lord help him, he despised the cold. It ate away at you, driving you closer to oblivion with each slight drop in temperature. He hated the sensation. He jerked his arm roughly, easily shattering the thin sheet that covered his arm and part of his torso. He repeated the process with his leg, dispelling nearly all the ice – but the chill still remained. He took a deep breath and glanced up to see that Gray had disappeared from sight. He shook his head slightly, trying to clear it. Calm and collected was the path he needed. No matter how furious he felt, he had to bury it. Otherwise, he would just leave Gray for dead after this little bout was finished. No. He would triumph and he would bring this child back with him. He was the hunter. He did not let prey escape so easily. He sighed. “Je čas rozbít váš duch to trochu, chlapče.”
He suppressed his reiatsu, his signature vanishing as he dashed across the lake and deftly leapt into the trees. It was sometimes surprising how little his long, heavy coat seemed to hinder his movements. One would think it would be a source of vexation – one to be disposed of the moment a fight started. The reality was that his skill was due to constantly wearing the coat, at least in part. He had become more aware of his body, of how it moved and strained – and had long since learned to compensate appropriately for the additional hindrance posed by his clothing choice. It had only become easier as time had passed.
He climbed high into the trees, ensuring that he was well hidden by the leaves. He paused for a moment to track down Gray’s reiatsu. As he searched, he pulled water from the lake up into the trees with him and formed a short bow. An orb of water hovered beside him from which he could form arrows when the time came to do so. And he wouldn’t have long to wait or far to go. He could sense that the boy hadn’t gone far, which was surprising. Tahno had probably caused at least a slight wound with his spears. That would definitely slow the boy down, especially with the very real worry of blood loss. It was a shame that the Obelisk was just getting started.
He jumped through the trees, treating the forest as just another giant obstacle course. Moments later, he was settled on a branch high above Gray’s position. For now, the Obelisk was content to watch. The boy glanced upwards – probably to check if an attack from above was imminent. A wise move to take, but Tahno had no intention of striking just yet. Let the boy think he might have a chance at posing a challenge to the Obelisk. He would have laughed, but he wished to remain concealed as he continued to observe. He was glad for his decision. He had always found it fascinating that Fullbringers developed such varied powers. Even more interesting was the fact that even individuals possessing the same basic Fullbring could manifest it in wildly different ways. Tahno was not overly experienced with ice-wielders, but the few he knew had never formed blades of water and blood before. Well…he assumed it was water and blood, since the left was white whilst the right was a bloody crimson. It seemed the boy was preparing for something interesting. And it probably meant he was serious about this fight. Good – Tahno hated when people took battle lightly. “Jako znamení úcty, nebudu vám snadnou práci. Ukaž mi, že stojí za úsilí,” he whispered as he formed and knocked an arrow. He drew in a breath, held it for a moment and let it out slowly as he fired the arrow straight at the crimson blade.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true]There's no need to change the past. Because of the past, we are who we are now. Every second, every action from then is linked to us here and now◣ | ◣Soon after he had retreated into the bushes, Gray felt Tahno's Reiatsu lighten up to the point where he could not tell where the other man was anymore. The disappearance was so sudden that it had to be intentional; it wasn't as if the other guy had just up and left. He was probably going to try a sneak attack. As if he didn't already have a huge advantage without being undetectable. Bastard. Frustrated, and not knowing what he could do, Gray found himself starting to get on edge. No. Calm down. It wouldn't do to get all riled up. He would only make more mistakes then. But if he didn't want to die, Gray was going to have to do some fast thinking. Fighting Tahno wasn't really going to work out now that he had no idea where he was. He couldn't run even if he wanted to; the other man would catch him. For now, all he really could do was wait.
Just when Gray thought that maybe Tahno had left, he saw something shine briefly out of the corner of his eye. Shit! Before he could react, something hit the red ice covering his right arm. As a jarring feeling ran up his arm, the ice cracked and broke away where the arrow had hit, causing red crystals to fall to the ground and dissipate. "And now I know where you are," Gray said under his breath as he raised his right hand in the direction from which the arrow had been shot. Hoping that Tahno hadn't already switched locations, Gray shot a blast of freezing white mist from his hand, aiming to freeze the trees to his right. He had no idea if he would actually hit the other man, but he had to try and flush him out somehow. He wasn't going to just stand around and wait to get shot at.
After his attempt at freezing the trees, Gray slipped around a tree that was behind him and leaned against it, hopefully putting a barrier between himself and Tahno. Really, he wasn't going to get anywhere, fighting in a forest with someone he couldn't detect. Sure, Gray could try to hide his own Reiatsu, but Tahno already knew where he was. There wasn't any point.
The throbbing pain in his ankle reminded Gray that he was bleeding all over the place. It soon stopped as Gray froze the wound over. Why didn't I do that before... he thought, before peeking around the edge of his tree to see if he had managed to get Tahno out of the trees.◣ | ◣TAGGED: Tahno ◣WORDS: 432 ◣NOTES: xxx

There was always a deep sense of satisfaction when Tahno’s strikes hit home. When the arrow struck, he couldn’t help but smile. It had been a beautiful shot and the crimson blade simply shattered on impact. He had already lined up a second shot when the boy fired a blast of white mist in his general direction. That could be problematic. He leapt to another tree, sliding slightly as he landed awkwardly on the thin sheet of ice that covered the lower branches. “Zkurvysyn!” he muttered. He had to neutralize the ice somehow. Not only did he hate it, it just unnecessarily complicated the hunt.
He glanced down. Gray had once again disappeared from view. However, the boy’s reiatsu was still close by. He was probably hidden behind a tree somewhere below – anything to create a protective barrier between prey and predator. He let the globe of water and bow he’d formed drop to the ground; the splattering sounded like a deluge of rain falling down. He was going to chase the boy around a bit, but he required Tianshang’s water. He controlled it better, despite the extra energy required to summon it. He reached up towards the comb and began ‘pulling’ water from it. As he summoned the water, he murmured, “Matky zuřivost.” The water began splitting apart into a thousand needles, each razor sharp and ready to rip through the enemy at Tahno’s command.
He quietly moved to an iceless tree and dropped down to the lower branches. Matky zuřivost moved with him. He paused, wondering if he should remain in the trees or move back to the forest floor. He didn’t have that great of an advantage from the higher ground. And it was ultimately more dangerous since Gray could simply freeze the trees – creating the risk of slipping and falling. The last thing Tahno needed was a twisted or broken leg…or a broken neck. After a moment, he decided he would stay up above for the time being. A little ice wouldn’t kill him so long as he was cautious. So he sat in his tree and waited patiently for Gray to poke his head around or take off running. He knew it would only be a matter of time, even if such action was not in the boy’s favor. Gray struck the Obelisk as being a bit dense, at least tactically speaking. Or perhaps the kid was a brilliant strategist…yeah, no. The thought almost made Tahno laugh aloud.
Sure enough, Gray eventually poked his nose around the tree he was hiding behind. The moment the kid’s face appeared, Tahno fired a half-dozen needles forward. They struck in a neat circle about two inches to the left of Gray’s face, sending bark flying as they drilled a few inches into the wood. Moments later, Tahno had moved yet again and fired at the ground near Gray’s feet. Another dozen needles sent up a small wave of dirt as they slammed into the earth with frightening speed. He immediately followed up with half-dozen needles aimed at the white blade on Gray’s arm. Tahno knew the kid could rearm himself pretty quickly, but it was best to keep the enemy off-balance and unarmed as much as possible. He then aimed three needles at the boy’s injured ankle, hoping to shatter the ice covering it and pierce through the ankle.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true]There's no need to change the past. Because of the past, we are who we are now. Every second, every action from then is linked to us here and now◣ | ◣Before Gray peeked around the tree, he heard what sounded like rain falling, but it only lasted for a couple seconds. What the hell was that? he wondered if it was an attack of some sort. But what could rain do? In any case, he couldn't just hide behind the tree the whole time. It wouldn't be too long before he was found.
When Gray did look around the tree, he was greeted by a spray of bark. Something - or several things - had hit the tree right next to his head. Holy shit! Needless to say, he didn't stick around for too long after that. Just as more needles were hitting the ground close to his feet, Gray pulled on the ground's soul and jumped. He disappeared with a flicker of green luminescence and appeared on a branch higher up, crouching and peering down to make sure no attacks were following him up. He had only guessed that there was a branch somewhere above him, so Gray was surprised and glad that he had actually managed to land on one.
Hoping that the other man didn't pinpoint where he was right away, Gray scanned the trees below him. Everything was obscured by leaves for the most part. But like before, he had been able to see which direction the attacks had come from in that split second. He's over there, somewhere. The Fullbringer was staring off in the direction he knew the other guy was in. For a moment, he considered using Cannon to just freeze the entire area again. But there was no real guarantee he would hit anything. Plus, the recoil would most likely knock him out of the tree.
Damn it... Given the obvious power difference between himself and Tahno, Gray didn't have too many options. There was no way he would win outright; he knew that. Running away wasn't even an option if the other man could catch up to him so easily. If he could only freeze him for more than a few seconds...
Gray had a better chance going after Tahno at close range, by the looks of it. Trying to fight someone he couldn't see just wasn't going to work out. At the very least, Gray could guess which tree the other man was in. It was the only one that was close enough for the needles to have come from. Assuming he was right and that Tahno would still be there, Gray jumped out of his tree towards it, using Bringer Light again. He crashed through the branches and landed on one of the largest branches, obviously not caring too much for subtlety. Lo and behold, his opponent was just a branch down from him. Aware that he had probably already been detected, Gray wasted no time in dropping off towards the other man, swinging down towards his back with the white ice blade. Whether he hit or not, Gray let his Reiryoku coat the blade so that his slash would leave a wake of ice to freeze whatever was close to him.◣ | ◣TAGGED: Tahno ◣WORDS: 510 ◣NOTES: xxx
